The Great Gatsby comes out this Christmas, and we couldn't be more excited for Baz Luhrmann's adaptation of the novel, starring Leonardo DiCaprio as the title character. Now that we've seen the first Great Gatsby trailer, you can check out the first few images from the film, which include a glittering ensemble photo of the cast including DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, and Carey Mulligan in '20s party dress, an intimate moment between Gatsby and Mulligan as Daisy, as well as a shot of Gatsby hanging out with Maguire's Nick Carraway. The Great Gatsby Trailer: DiCaprio Always Looks So Cool

The trailer for Baz Luhrmann's film adaptation of The Great Gatsby is everything I hoped it would be: visually stunning, stylish, and sexy. Of course, he has the benefit of his source material being set in the 1920s, a period that offers amazing costumes, cars, and sets, especially when the story focuses on the elite and their lavish parties. At the center of those parties is Jay Gatsby (Leonardo DiCaprio), a mysteriously wealthy man who enjoys throwing big, fancy events but doesn't seem to relish the attention that goes with them. He prefers to watch from afar, particularly when it comes to Daisy Buchanan (Carey Mulligan), a naive but beautiful young woman in an unhappy marriage, whom Gatsby admires.

If you had to read the story in high school like most of us did, then you know how narrator Nick (Tobey Maguire)'s story goes. There's sex, scandal, and tragedy as we learn more about the inner workings of the upper class. This is all hinted at in the preview, along with Luhrmann's signature polish that's reminiscent of his smash hit Moulin Rouge. My only gripe is that the Kanye song feels a bit out of place, but that hardly impedes my excitement for this movie. Carey Mulligan and Tobey Maguire Get Ready to Welcome Leo Down Under

Carey Mulligan and Tobey Maguire popped up at Fox Studios for The Great Gatsby in Sydney, Australia today. Tobey was sporting facial stubble while Carey had a smile on her face as she chatted on the phone. Their costar, Leonardo DiCaprio, wasn't spotted with them Down Under, but he's apparently on his way after wrapping up a trip to Mexico with girlfriend Erin Heatherton. The couple's getaway meant that Leo missed the SAG Awards, where he was nominated for his leading role in J. Edgar. He hasn't skipped out on all of award season though, since he did attend the Golden Globes and the Critics' Choice Awards. Carey took part in her own red carpet fun this month when she joined Michael Fassbender in London for the Film Critics' Circle Awards.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire were in tuxes while Carey Mulligan wore a beaded flapper dress tonight in Sydney, Australia. The threesome dressed up to film an outdoor scene together as they continued work on The Great Gatsby. The costars shared some lighthearted moments during their latest evening shooting the drama. Filming on the adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's famed novel began in August, and while Isla Fisher and Joel Edgerton have also put in work on the movie Down Under, Leo, Tobey, and Carey have been the most frequent fixtures on the set as the leads. Leo and Carey have both kept busy jetting back and forth to Australia as they portray Jay Gatsby and Daisy Buchanan, respectively. They've traveled quite a bit over the last two months, with Leo busy promoting J. Edgar and Carey hyping the release of her latest film, Shame.

Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, and Carey Mulligan were in their '20s finest today to shoot The Great Gatsby at Sydney's Centennial Park. The three stars have been in Australia for the last few months working on the Baz Luhrmann adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic book, though Carey broke from the Oz set to do a recent bit of press in the UK for her movie Shame. While in London, she visited The Graham Norton Show and chatted about her costar Leo's dancing abilities. She said Leo, "claims not to be able to dance . . . [but] I know he can, because I saw him dance in Titanic." Leo has also traveled abroad to chat up his movie J. Edgar, which has suffered from some less-than-stellar reviews. He was in NYC last week when he turned 37, and the lucky actor was able to celebrate the milestone in the company of multiple Victoria's Secret Angels.

He was joined by Tobey Maguire for the day of filming, which included a few scenes in a fancy yellow car. Leonardo's been in Australia working on The Great Gatsby since August, though it's not his big-screen project that's currently putting him in the spotlight. Leo reportedly has a new lady in his life following his split from Blake Lively. He's been spotted with Romanian model Madalina Ghenea after being linked to several Australian women earlier this month. Leo will soon switch gears to start promoting J. Edgar, since the biopic is being released on Nov. 9.

Filming has been underway for a few weeks, but this is our first look at Maguire in the role of Nick Carraway, who serves as the narrator in the novel. He was joined by costars Joel Edgerton and Isla Fisher, who play Tom Buchanan and Myrtle Wilson, respectively. The real excitement will be in seeing Leonardo DiCaprio and Carey Mulligan (as Gatsby and Daisy), but for now, this is a pretty sweet sneak peek.

They'll soon welcome another member to the cast since model Gemma Ward has been confirmed to play Myrtle's sister Catherine. Isla and Tobey have their families with them Down Under while they work on the film adaptation of the iconic book. Isla got away from the cameras to spend time with her husband Sacha Baron Cohen and their daughters Olive and Elula earlier this month, and the foursome celebrated Sacha's 40th birthday with a boat ride.

Isla is playing Myrtle Wilson in the adaptation of the iconic book, which is being shot in her native Australia. Isla's fellow leading lady, Carey Mulligan who will take on the role of Daisy Buchanan, has yet to be spotted in character, though the handsome Jay Gatsby and Nick Carraway have been hard at work already. Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire shot Great Gatsby scenes in a gorgeous vintage car today after arriving Down Under earlier this week. The film is being shot in 3D under the watchful eye of director Baz Luhrmann who, like Isla, is from Australia himself, and the reason they choose the location.
