The WB Celebrates Turkey Day with Friends, The OC, and More

Over the course of its 10 seasons, Friends served up some pretty classic Thanksgiving episodes. Now, with this year's turkey day fast approaching, The WB.com has put all nine of the Thanksgiving episodes together in one place.

Yes, that includes the football game episode from the third season and - maybe biggest of all - the Brad Pitt appearance from season eight, which not only just shook things up at the friends' Thanksgiving dinner but also got Pitt an Emmy nomination.

And that's just a little taste of what the online network is offering for the holiday. There's also a Thanksgiving- and food-themed Friends trivia quiz, plus a whole lot of Thanksgiving episodes of other WB shows. Before the end of the week, Thanksgiving-themed episodes from Everwood, Gilmore Girls, and The OC will all be online.

The WB is Back - Online

Who didn't love at least one show on The WB? Back in the day, it was the one network that spoke to my generation, with shows like Dawson's Creek, Felicity, and Gilmore Girls all reaching the ranks of must-see TV. But ratings dropped over the years, and in 2006, The WB and and UPN merged into the new CW; The WB was no more.

Until today, that is. As of now, the network is back as The WB.com, with full episodes and full seasons of favorite WB shows (and Warner Bros.-produced shows that aired on other networks). At its launch, the lineup includes the whole first season of Veronica Mars, 10 episodes of The OC, and a sampling of episodes from Friends, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Gilmore Girls, among others.

The site's also loaded with special features for folks who like to make their own videos, including a clip maker called the "Wblender," and a bunch of quizzes and games (I'm a little embarrassed to admit I just killed some time playing The OC Memory Match, which is just an online version of the childhood game Memory but with pictures of those pretty, pretty Orange County kids). Sorority Forever - from McG, this show is a mystery/drama set in a sorority house. It'll premiere Sept. 8.
Blue Water High - Up now, it's about an Australian surf academy.
Whatever, Hollywood - Up now, this show's about three best friends making online videos (how meta!).
Untitled Josh Schwartz Project - Schwartz and music supervisor extraordinaire Alexandra Patsavas are teaming up for a show set in the LA music world.

What Was Your Favorite WB Show?

The WB network, once home of greats like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Dawson's Creek, met its demise in 2006 when the CW was formed. But starting next month, the WB will be revived - this time as a website that will stream classic WB series and new content from producers including Josh Schwartz and McG.

It's not clear yet exactly which shows will end up on the site (I'm assuming the popular ones are a lock - but what about the short-lived ones like Grosse Point?) The site will also show series produced by Warner Bros. Television that aired on other networks, including Friends and The OC. I'm most excited about having Dawson's Creek and the other shows of my teen years at my fingertips any time I want.

That got me thinking: Which show from the heyday of the WB was your favorite?

Zap2It reports that Showtime has picked up The L Word for a sixth and final season.
A Ponds ad featuring Chinese actress Tang Wei has been banned in China - not because of the content of the advertisement, but because of "official displeasure" at Wei's involvement in the Ang Lee film Lust, Caution, Variety reports.
Justin Chadwick, director of The Other Boleyn Girl, is in talks to direct a contemporary London thriller titled The Property, writes ComingSoon.
According to Variety, Cate Blanchett will play Blanche DuBois in an Australian production of A Streetcar Named Desire.
Gnarls Barkley's video for "Run" has been re-edited to pass the Harding Test - guidelines intended to prevent TV images from triggering epileptic seizures - and can now air in the U.K., Billboard reports.
According to Hollywood Reporter, the Warner Bros. Television Group will resurrect The WB network in the form of a new website that will feature video of old WB favorites, like Gilmore Girls and Everwood.

Sarah Michelle Gellar Talks Ringer, Motherhood, and Her CW "Homecoming"

Sarah Michelle Gellar will make her return to the small screen for the first time since Buffy the Vampire Slayer on the CW's new drama series, Ringer. To raise the stakes, Gellar will be playing two characters - identical twins named Siobhan and Bridget - whose checkered pasts and secrets create drama for both. At the TCA press tour, Gellar was joined by her costars to talk about how she knew she was ready for TV (her daughter Charlotte had a lot to do with that), and why she'll always be proud of Buffy.

Gellar has been focusing on movies since her Buffy days, and she attributed that to feeling very "burnt out" after the show ended. As for what brought her back to TV, she said that she started watching a lot of television on DVD and realized that "all the amazing roles for women were on television."
The birth of her daughter, Charlotte, also played a role. Gellar said, "Once I had my daughter, I realized that I was done living the nomadic lifestyle. I want to be home and I want to put her to bed, and be there for her first day of school, and nothing offers that more than television. I realized I missed it. I think if I hadn't had the time away I wouldn't be able to appreciate the experience the way I am appreciating it now."
Though Gellar won't be doing the same kind of stunts we saw on Buffy, she noted that she likes holding a gun because "Buffy never got a gun."

The Vampire Diaries Creator Kevin Williamson Says It May Not Be OK For Elena to Love Both Damon and Stefan

The Vampire Diaries stars dished a lot on their characters and where season three will take them at their Comic-Con panel, but no one knows what's next for the supernatural series better than the creator himself, Kevin Williamson. The show's writer and producer sat down for a chat, and he revealed what's going to happen with the Damon/Elena/Stefan love triangle, why he decided to kill off Aunt Jenna, and more.

When we pick up, what will happen between Damon and Elena?
Kevin Williamson: Stefan has taken off with Klaus for a greater agenda: Klaus is up to something. And that's sort of the first chapter of our story and what that entails. It'll sort of be Damon and Elena's search for Stefan and how their relationship changes. At the end of season two, Katherine uttered that one line: "It's OK to love both of them," and we'll sort of watch that play out. And what does that mean? It meant one thing for Katherine; what's it going to be for Elena? Because you can love someone brotherly, you can love someone like a friend, and I just think [regarding] romantic love, it may not be OK to love both of them.

I think that's the journey. She's on a big journey, because yes, 100 percent yes, she's attracted to this man [Damon]. Yes, she's in love with Stefan; it's the epic love that's never going to change. So she's going to be torn. It's so tragic, these characters. And Damon is like this reluctant character who doesn't want to be the hero, it's not his role in life, he's not good at it. Elena's going to be there pushing him on to be the hero, but his nature is to kill people, so it's going to be interesting.

Buzz In: What TV Series Have You Watched More Than Once?

In the following post from OnSugar blog Screen Time, gtettey shared the TV series she's rewatching. Read her post and then share the shows that you have revisited in the comments!

While most shows have taken yet another midseason break until April, I've taken the time to get reacquainted with old friends. No, I haven't been looking through old yearbooks and calling the numbers left under "K.I.T." or facebooking my old college roommates. I've been watching old TV shows that have been replaced by all the shows that are now on break. Swap Buffy with The Vampire Diaries, ER with Grey's Anatomy, and Beverly Hills, 90210 with, well, 90210 and you get what I mean. You don't have to have a huge collection of TV on DVD box sets to watch some of your favorite shows; thanks to the Internet most of them are just a click away.

I usually take slow times, like these, in my TV lineup to re-watch some of my favorite defunct shows. For some reason, Roswell always makes a comeback during the Summer, My So-Called Life makes an appearance as often as possible (because who doesn't love an excuse to watch Jordan Catalano), and Freaks and Geeks gets sprinkled somewhere in between. But these aren't the only shows that I love to see make a comeback on the small screen. After a failed attempt to watch Jack & Jill on YouTube (there's only a couple episodes posted), I moved on to another NYC-based WB show: Felicity. Did the urge to watch Felicity have anything to do with Scott Foley's role on Grey's Anatomy? Of course! Now that I'm on the last three episodes of the series, I'm sad to see to old friends leave, but glad to see the new ones return. Although most shows, namely those on The CW, return the week of April 18, a couple start back up a few weeks early. Thankfully, The Vampire Diaries returns, along with Isobel, on April 7 and Grey's Anatomy begins the week earlier. Let's hope Noel (Scott Foley) is made a regular on Grey's, because without him I have no use for Teddy. He's the only thing keeping her storyline interesting.
