I will forever hold a place in my heart for The O.C., which means I'll also always have a soft spot for its core cast members. That's why I'm practically giddy that Rachel Bilson (aka Summer) is making her return to the small screen this Fall on the new CW series Hart of Dixie. Bilson stars as Zoe Hart (yes, it made me think of Grey's Anatomy too), a doctor who gets uprooted from NYC to the Deep South. The previews have the bad accents you'd expect from the premise, but at least Zoe kind of seems like Summer Roberts all grown up. The real question is whether or not Scott Porter can be her Seth Cohen.

The CW Renews One Tree Hill, Axes Hellcats, and Picks Up 4 Pilots

I've got a lot of good news (and a little bad news) for fans of The CW: the network has renewed fan favorite One Tree Hill and freshman series Nikita - but Hellcats didn't make the cut. The network will present its full Fall lineup later this week, but I've already got the details on the new pilots, which include the return of small-screen stars like Sarah Michelle Gellar and Rachel Bilson.

The Secret Circle: From Vampire Diaries creator Kevin Williamson, this supernatural series revolves around a girl (Life Unexpected's Britt Robertson) who discovers she's a witch when she moves to a new town. The series is based on a trilogy by L.J. Smith, who also wrote The Vampire Diaries books.
Hart of Dixie: The O.C. alum Rachel Bilson returns to TV as a doctor/native New Yorker who heads to the South when she inherits a new practice.
Ringer: Sarah Michelle Gellar pulls double duty as a woman on the run who takes on the identity of her twin sister - but, as it turns out, her twin has problems of her own.
H8ER: A reality show hosted by Mario Lopez that pits celebrities against their biggest haters. The pilot features Snooki and Kim Kardashian.

The pretty young things of the CW had their turn to party last night after a day of presenting their new fall schedule at Upfronts presentations in NYC. The cast of The Vampire Diaries stuck together on the carpet, where Nina Dobrev showed off her tan fresh from a bikini-filled vacation in Turks and Caicos. Ashley Tisdale is joining the network's array of beautiful faces as she started to promote her show, Hellcats. Chace Crawford represented the Gossip Girl crew after Monday's very dramatic season finale. One Tree Hill was saved from cancellation once again, and we're not complaining that it brought Robert Buckley out to the bash. Finally, 90210's AnnaLynne McCord expressed her love for her boyfriend - Twilight's Kellan Lutz, if they're still going strong - on her t-shirt. Beyond Ashley, there's a handful of other fresh faces among the crowd, and Buzz is introducing us to the CW's newest stars!

TCA Tidbits: The Vampire Diaries and Life Unexpected

The Winter TCA is chugging right along, bringing this morning's exciting news about Glee's renewed second season. Before that, though, I had the opportunity to learn a bit more about the CW's Spring programming with panels on The Vampire Diaries (get a sneak peek at upcoming episodes here) and Life Unexpected. Here's more:

The cast and showrunners of The Vampire Diaries were all smiles on the panel and seemed to have a close-knit relationship. In fact, Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley repeatedly mentioned how close they are, even dressing alike and hanging out together after work - love that.
As far as plot goes: Vicki isn't coming back, though her death will continue to have an effect on Jeremy and Matt. Matt's mother will be making an appearance in the upcoming seasons, along with Mia Kirshner, who will play Alaric's dead wife in his flashbacks. We'll also learn about his agenda in Mystic Falls.
Alaric isn't the only one with plans. Creator Kevin Williamson revealed,"Damon has an agenda. He’s going to save Katherine. He’s going to do everything possible he can to get to her. And so, that tomb is still in play."
Nina spoke a little about the love triangle heating up, saying, "Well, it’s not a love triangle with only two people. And now that the necklace is off, she’s very vulnerable. And in this next episode that we’re going to see, there are going to be a lot more of Damon and Elena." Williamson added, "One of the things that’s going to be really interesting in this upcoming episode is Damon and Elena sort of have some alone time. They have a little bit of an adventure where they’re sort of - you know, there’s no Stefan. There’s just the two of them." Hot!
After the panel, Paul said there's been nothing specific in the script about werewolves just yet, though he thinks the idea is "fantastic." Kevin Williamson also said that though Elena is turned into a vampire pretty early on in the books, we won't see Nina Dobrev playing any bloodsucker besides Katherine anytime soon.
