What Is the Best Teen TV Drama of All Time?

This week's New York Magazine has declared Gossip Girl to be the best teen drama of all time. (The magazine's cover went even further with its proclamation: "Best. Show. Ever.") Really, now? I love the show - but is it better than, say, My So-Called Life or Dawson's Creek?

I'm putting the question you, dear readers. The restrictions: Nothing from a decade when most of us weren't alive, no matter how groundbreaking (sorry, Peyton Place); nothing that was nominated for awards in the comedy category (see ya, Freaks and Geeks and The Wonder Years); and nothing where the majority of the action took place in college (no Greek or Felicity). Got it? Now vote!

There's no telling what sort of spells the teen witches will get into on the holiday, but for now, check out Cassie and her friends in their costumes, which run the gamut from little red riding hood to, um, sexy bee.

Easy Halloween Costume Idea: The Hunger Games' Katniss Everdeen

Need a quick, easy Halloween costume idea? Look no further than District 12, home of The Hunger Games heroine Katniss Everdeen. We know what you're thinking: Isn't that book series for teenagers? Yes and no: though teens were its initial target audience, the strong sociopolitical commentary and action-packed drama appeal to readers of any age. (Seriously, a friend with a PhD in English Literature can't stop talking about the trilogy.) Creating a Katniss costume is a simple, 10-minute project.

Hair and makeup: Arrange your hair into a long braid (here's how) and make it look dirty with some hair wax. Katniss has an olive complexion, but if you don't, apply a bit of matte bronzer to fake some sun on the cheeks.

What to wear: An earth-toned hoodie and boots will provide a basic Katniss uniform, and you'll just need a little craftiness to add the props. Check secondhand shops for a bird brooch that can function as a Mockingjay, and create a quiver out of some twine and a cardboard tube mailer.

Take it to the next level: If you wear contacts, this is a great excuse to try gray lenses to match Katniss's eyes. No matter how you customize the costume, may the odds be ever in your favor.

Pilot Scoop: The Secret Circle

Tonight you can finally watch the premiere of The CW's drama The Secret Circle, the new series based on the novels of L.J. Smith (who also wrote its lead-in, The Vampire Diaries). The witch-centric new show is from Kevin Williamson and stars CW alum Britt Robertson, and if you're interested in checking it out tonight, make sure to read my pilot scoop below for a hint about whether it might be your new favorite show.

What it's about: When teenager Cassie (Britt Robertson) loses her mother to a fire, she moves in with her grandmother in her mom's hometown. A group of classmates takes an odd interest in her, and they quickly reveal why: Cassie is a witch, descended from one of the witch families in town, as are each of them. Cassie completes their coven, and they want her to join them so that they can get the full use of their powers.

Where it works: The pilot is deliciously creepy, thanks to a mysterious villain on the scene (Gale Harold). The show also does a good job of setting up an interesting story that seems to have a lot of potential. Plus it's great to see the endearing Robertson back on her own show after Life Unexpected was canceled.

Where it doesn't: This is a show about teen witches, so the camp factor has the possibility to be high. Some of the dialogue the characters use to set up the premise is pretty cheesy, but maybe it won't be so bad once the show establishes what it's about.

Am I hooked? Oh yeah. After just one episode, I wanted to know more about the town's rich witch history and the sinister characters.

When is it on: Thursdays at 9 p.m.

It appears Katie Holmes unknowingly prepped for her role in this week's horror film Don't Be Afraid of the Dark during her days playing Joey Potter on Dawson's Creek. In this late '90s episode of the teen drama set on Friday the 13th, Holmes and James Van Der Beek's character, Dawson, discuss their tactics for trying to scare one another throughout the episode before quickly turning the conversation toward the morbid topic of how they might react to each others' deaths. Watch as Joey impersonates Dawson's reaction to her jumping out of the closet, and stay tuned until the end to see what surprise Dawson has left for Joey under the covers.

Gossip Girls Blake and Leighton Share a Happy Reunion on Set

Blake Lively and Leighton Meester arrived on the NYC set of Gossip Girl yesterday and were shortly met by their costar, Ed Westwick. Blake's back on the East Coast following an eventful week in LA. She filmed new scenes with Chace and Ed on a yacht on the coast, visited a grocery store with boyfriend Leonardo DiCaprio, and represented the Gossip Girl cast wearing a leather Gucci dress at Sunday's Teen Choice Awards. It was a big night for the entire cast: Blake took home the honor of choice TV actress in a drama, Chace Crawford won for choice TV actor in a drama, and the CW series was recognized as choice TV drama. For now, the cast is filming new episodes and when season five kicks off next month fans might tune in for a Chuck and Blair reunion or an unexpected pregnancy plot after the finale's cliffhanger.

Would You Watch MTV's Married Young?

MTV's 16 and Pregnant and Teen Mom attract tons of viewers, as well as criticism that they glorify teen pregnancy. For its next young-people-growing-up-fast docuseries, MTV is leaving the babies out. Starting after the honeymoon, Married Young will follow young couples in their first year of marriage.

If this all sounds familiar, that's because the network ran the series Engaged & Underage a few years ago. One woman married on that show commented on Married Young's Facebook page letting everyone know she's still married two years later, although she hasn't spoken to her mother since.

According to MTV, you're married "young" if you tie the knot before 26, which doesn't seem all that young to me. But considering more Americans are delaying marriage, this could be an insightful take on the pros and cons of participating in the institution of marriage at an earlier age. It could also delve into typical reality drama and mundane bickering. Would you tune in?

Shia LaBeouf Sticks to His Daily Routine Following a Teen Choice Awards Loss to Robert Pattinson

Shia LaBeouf was out and about in LA yesterday stopping to pick up a cup of coffee before continuing on his way. He was among the many hot young guys nominated for choice male actor in a drama at Sunday night's Teen Choice Awards, but lost to Twilight's leading man Robert Pattinson. Shia's latest film Transformers: Dark of the Moon was also shut out in the category of choice Summer movie, with fan favorite Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows taking home the win. Shia is rocking the scruffy look as he hangs out around town with his girlfriend Karolyn Pho, though he may have to clean up soon when he reports to his next set in Vancouver. Shia will be teaming up with Hollywood legend Robert Redford who cast Shia to star with him in The Company You Keep, and production on that film starts in September.

Teen Choice Awards: Selena Gomez
