Get ready, New York City: Soon you will be unable to escape the sticky gelatinous web that is the Spider-Man 3 promotional bombardment. The Big Apple is gearing up for what will be known as "Spider-Man Week in NYC," which will take place from April 30 to May 6 and include the first U.S. screening of the film at the Tribeca Film Festival.

What can I say about Spider-Man 3? It's good. It's a comic book movie.

It's obvious that Spider-Man 3 has cost a pretty penny. The oft-quoted price tag is $250 million, yet a piece in Radar magazine has us wondering if it's actually more like twice that much.
Reporter Kim Masters writes:
With marketing and promotion factored in, the total price tag will approach half a billion dollars—positioning Spider-Man 3 as the most expensive movie of all time.

Before Hiro, Peter, Claire, and the rest of the "Heroes" gang, there was Tobey Maguire in spandex. Tonight, these superhero forces will combine when a new Spider-Man 3 trailer premieres sometime during the new episode of "Heroes."
What's more, after "Heroes" ends at 10 p.m.

We have to wait until May 4 to see Spider-Man 3, but here's something you can watch to pass the time. Snow Patrol has just released an adorable music video for "Signal Fire," the band's contribution the Spider-Man 3 Soundtrack, which comes out May 1. The super-indie compilation also features the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, the Killers, and the Flaming Lips.

We knew Spider-Man 3 was going to have a big first weekend — but how big? Well, the movie brought in an estimated $148 million, making it the biggest opening weekend ever in North America, according to Variety. The numbers quickly ignited sequel talk, with a Sony executive gushing that there would be "a fourth and a fifth and a sixth and a seventh" Spidey flick.

Continuing the barrage of promotion for Spider-Man 3, several new clips from the movie are now available online, thanks to IESB.net. These aren't trailers or bits from previews we've already seen but rather full, never-before-seen scenes, some of which, I have to admit, are pretty damn cool, including:
- MJ and Peter's date night on the giant spider web.
- Spidey rescuing Gwen (Bryce Dallas Howard, looking super-blond, by the way) from certain death.
- Then, a pretty funny jealousy scene in which Gwen and MJ put Peter in an awkward situation.
- Topher Grace's character having little chat with God before he Venomizes.
- A tense fight amidst the subway cars between Spider-Man and Sandman.
The videos are not embeddable, so you'll have to visit IESB's site, but it's well worth it if your saturation point for Spidey stuff hasn't yet been met.

Lately, I've been almost as excited about the Spider-Man 3 soundtrack as I am about the accompanying summer blockbuster. The movie, of course, comes out out on Friday, but the soundtrack hits stores tomorrow, and you can listen to the entire album online now at AOL Music.
It really is a pretty daring soundtrack for a big summer movie.

It's a good thing that Spider-Man 3 looks like it's going to kick ass, because after all this build-up, the movie has a lot of hype to live up to. I already told you guys about the trailer that premiered during "Heroes," but now everyone is excited about the even newer (and final) version that just hit theaters.
This preview has a few more shots of Venom (Topher Grace) that we haven't seen before, with a little bit less footage of Sandman.

As Spider-Man 3 begins its march toward box-office domination, Sam Raimi might be heading in another direction. According to Entertainment Weekly, Raimi is very interested in helming The Hobbit, the Lord of the Rings prequel, now that Peter Jackson's feud with New Line has left the project without a director.
That could mean an uncertain fate for Spider-Man 4.
