According to Charlize Theron at the Q&A session after the Sundance premiere screening for Sleepwalking, the movie's script really spoke to her, enough to make her want to produce and star in it. I have to wonder what, exactly, the script said to her that made it seem like a real standout project. It's not that this coming-of-age story with strains of poverty and abandonment is bad, necessarily, it's just forgettable.

Yesterday I proved to myself that I really could spend an entire day watching movies and not get tired of it. In fact, it started to work like a drug — the more films I took in, the more I wanted to watch. So, maybe it's a good thing that I leave Park City today!

In this week's Grey's Anatomy, things went from bad to craaaa-zy as the two wildest plotlines of the season — the interns' secret surgery center and Izzie's relations with Denny's ghost — got even more out of control. That said, though, I can't remember the last time I was so excited to watch Grey's. I do love a good trainwreck, so maybe that's it, but there are also some good things in this episode in between all the nutso stuff.

The title of this episode of House ends up loaded with meaning: It's the potential name of the baby that Cuddy so desperately wants; it's a major component of the case; and it may be the emotion we're supposed to feel when something big happens in the final minutes. Am I being too vague? Well, this is one episode I wouldn't want to spoil, so to chat about it, just read more

Here's what I loved about this week's episode of Desperate Housewives: Julie finally tells Dylan what everyone's kinda thinking — just quit whining already about what happened to your dad, what your mom's big secret is, blah blah blah. I also really liked this episode because it was funny (naked Orson will probably always be hilarious to me) and super soapy (arson at Rick's?!). And I just think Gaby is the best mean girl on TV right now.

For me, there are two big issues with writer/director Peter Tolan's feature-length debut: some crazy, disconcerting tonal shifts and a crazy, disconcerting casting choice. There's also a third, less important issue adding to my perplexity about Finding Amanda which is that Matthew Broderick lifelessly sleepwalks through his role.
Tonally, the movie seems to have no idea what it wants to be and vacillates between screwball comedy, dark humor, high drama, and bleak character study.
