Anne Hathaway and Neil Patrick Harris Head to Rio

Obviously I haven't outgrown cartoons, because I'm secretly stoked for this animated film news. Anne Hathaway and Neil Patrick Harris are reportedly in talks for Rio, which follows a macaw who breaks out of his Minnesota cage for the lively city of Rio de Janeiro. Sounds like a cute concept, right?

The film already has a release date of April 8, 2011, and it will be filmed in 3D digital animation. No word yet on who the actors will be voicing, but I sort of imagine Hathaway putting on her best "don't cha know" Minnesotan accent as the macaw's owner, and NPH delivering the laughs as a Brazilian parrot in a samba costume. (Hey, just a thought, producers.)

Neil Patrick Harris Is an American Idol Guest Judge

As Paula Abdul moves from American Idol to VH1's divas, new faces are coming in to take her place. So far we've learned that Idol will feature a variety of guest judges, including Victoria Beckham, Mary J. Blige, Kelly Clarkson, Shania Twain, and Joe Jonas. And guess who's the latest one to climb into Paula's old seat: Neil Patrick Harris! Fox has confirmed that NPH sat at the judges' table and weighed in on the singers during today's Dallas auditions. Aww!

I love this guy. And it's a good move on Fox's part, since I normally don't enjoy the auditions as much as the live competition. Now, however, I can't wait to tune in to the preliminaries! What do you think? Will it be good to have the former Broadway singer on the judges panel?

With Neil Patrick Harris as Host, Are You More Likely to Watch the Emmys?

It's official: Neil Patrick Harris will host this year's Emmys! He was definitely high on my list of stars who would make good hosts and to my delight, he was rumored to be hosting the Emmys soon after his stint as host at the Tony Awards. He seems comfortable hosting and he obviously has such charming stage presence. His reaction to the news about hosting the Emmys is pretty hilarious:

"After having had such a hoot hosting the Tonys, I was thrilled to get the call about the prime-time Emmys," said Harris, adding that he looks forward to "adding my own voice" to the ceremony: "But which voice to choose? I'm torn between gangsta, foppish Brit, and robot. Really proud of my robot. We'll see what happens on the night."

I have much respect for anyone who uses the words "gangsta, foppish Brit, and robot" in one sentence.

When the rumors were swirling, some of you mentioned that you'd now tune in to watch the Emmys on TV. Would you have watched it otherwise? Does this make you more inclined to check out the ceremony on Sept. 20?

Neil Patrick Harris in Talks to Host the Emmys

Fresh off his gig hosting the Tony Awards, Neil Patrick Harris may be taking an even bigger stage: September's Emmy Awards. Though the deal's not done, Harris is in talks to host the show, which will air Sept. 20 on CBS.

I know, the "legendary" joke is over. But seriously, wouldn't this be legendary?

Variety notes that picking Harris was "a no-brainer" after his positive reviews as emcee of the Tonys. He's also hosted the Creative Arts Emmys and the TV Land Awards, and he announced last year's Emmy nominations with Kristin Chenoweth, so he's got plenty of experience running these sorts of events.

Pretty much anyone would be a step up from last year's awkward experiment of having the five Outstanding Reality Host nominees run the show, but NPH seems particularly well-suited for the job. Would you be more likely to tune in if he were at the mic?

Buzz In: Which Stars Would Make Great Awards Show Hosts?

If I watch Sunday's Tony Awards, it won't be just because I love Broadway. No, I'll also be watching for Neil Patrick Harris, who's hosting this year's ceremony. Harris cracks me up, and he's got a confident presence behind the mic. When he and Kristin Chenoweth briefly appeared to present an award at last year's Emmys, I found myself wishing they'd just hosted the whole show!

The man apparently just loves hosting, and he seems to be approaching the challenge of the show with a sense of humor - as seen in his top 10 signs you've hired a bad host for the Tonys list on Late Show with David Letterman.

Hosting is a tough gig for anyone, and I'm wondering if there are other stars you think could pull it off. Word comes this week that the Emmys are considering hiring Craig Ferguson as this year's host after last year's debacle with the five reality stars. And hiring Hugh Jackman seems to have worked out pretty well for the Oscars.

So tell me: Which stars do you think would make good hosts - and which shows would you want to see them do?
