The title of this post is scandalous and strange, but so is this film news. Al Gore's daughter Kristin Gore is co-writing a screenplay titled Nailed (not based on either of her novels Sammy's Hill or Sammy's House). Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Biel are attached to star together in the movie.

While Marilyn Manson is running around being creepy and dating a 19-year-old, Trent Reznor is still hunkering down and making good music. With both Nine Inch Nails and Tori Amos releasing new albums, I feel sort of like I'm reliving my high school years, but when it comes to quality hard music, I've always had a soft spot for Reznor.
NIN's Year Zero hits stores today — the band's first album since 2005's With Teeth.

All the indie buzz: The first album from the much-hyped band (Spin called them "the most buzzed-about new band since Vampire Weekend") Black Kids is probably a must-have for anyone trying to keep their iTunes loaded with the latest and greatest.

Fox kicked off network Upfront week in New York this morning by announcing its Fall schedule, and here's a headline right off the bat: So You Think You Can Dance, Fox's summertime dance competition show, is getting a Fall edition as well.
The show will air in an American Idol-like fashion, with a two-hour performance show on Tuesdays and a one-hour results show on Wednesdays. That Wednesday show will lead into Glee, the musical dramedy that has its sneak peek after Idol this week.

For the past several weeks on American Idol, early favorite Lil Rounds had been struggling with criticism from the judges that she wasn't showing off who she was as an artist. Maybe those comments finally got to voters, because Rounds was sent home on Wednesday alongside Anoop Desai. In a call with reporters on Thursday, Rounds said she had a pretty good feeling she'd be heading home but didn't fault the judges for their criticism.

I was interested in seeing Sugar for a few reasons. Knowing that the folks behind it are the same filmmaking duo that gave us Half Nelson, I was pretty sure this wouldn't be an ordinary, feel-good sports movie. And the focus of the story only further intrigued me: Minor-league training camps in the Dominican Republic that churn out baseball players with the efficiency (and emotional investment) of a factory.

The director of Adventureland, Greg Mottola, is no stranger to the Summer comedy. His last film, the funny (and sometimes vulgar) Superbad, was a big hit with audiences and followed two high school buddies through one crazy night at the end of their senior year. Adventureland follows a recent college grad through one crazy Summer, so it's no surprise that the director's movies would be compared to each other.
