Cast the Girl With the Dragon Tattoo

Production on the much-anticipated American version of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo is moving forward - even though the cast hasn't been finalized yet. The film is set to be released on Dec. 21, 2011, and Daniel Craig is still the front-runner to play Mikael, but the role of Lisbeth is still up in the air. Carey Mulligan's name is still on the list, but check out the other contenders and tell me who gets your vote.

Breaking Dawn in 3-D - Awesome or Unncessary?

While you're still trying to figure out how Twilight's Breaking Dawn will work as two movies, here's a little more food for thought. Apparently Summit is toying with the idea of making the movies in 3-D. That means Edward's sparkly skin, Jacob's six pack, and all of the epic battle scenes could be even more in your face (literally) than ever before.

On the other hand, this also means (spoiler alert!) a potentially graphic birthing scene and a CGI half-vamp baby in more dimensions than we can stomach. 3-D tickets will certainly rake in even more money for the franchise, but will the extra effects really make it a better movie? What do you think of Breaking Dawn in 3-D - awesome or unnecessary?

Movie That Spoofs Spoof Movies in the Works

Didja get that? It's a spoof movie, but it's not spoofing serious movies - it's spoofing spoof films like Date Movie and Not Another Teen Movie (and the upcoming Wayans Brothers comedy, Dance Flick). Hence the title: Not Another Not Another Movie. This project is already making me chuckle, I can't wait to see it - especially since it stars Chevy Chase, whom I love. The Hollywood Reporter explains:

Chase plays a studio head who quits his floundering company, leaving his ex-con sibling ([Michael] Madsen) in charge. Soon their equally inept gangster friend ([Vinnie] Jones) takes over and assigns a production assistant (David Leo Schultz) to direct a spoof of spoof movies. [Burt] Reynolds plays an actor playing the director of the chaotic film within the film.

So, everything clear now? What do you think of this idea? A little too meta, or perhaps too silly? Or right up your alley? What will it look like to spoof spoof movies?

Jennifer Lawrence and Her Boyfriend Hang Out in London

Jennifer Lawrence and her boyfriend, Nicholas Hoult, spent the afternoon in London yesterday. Jennifer started the day in a white maxi dress and later headed to her hotel to change into a black version. She wore the long look to the Duke of York's Theatre with Nicholas by her side. Jennifer's been keeping a low profile since the record-breaking release of The Hunger Games in March, though she did travel to take care of press last month. She'll get back to her role as Katniss Everdeen when filming on the second movie in the franchise starts this Summer, and she may be welcoming a new costar. It's rumored that Robert Pattinson is wanted to play Finnick Odair in Catching Fire, but we'll have to wait for an official announcement from Lionsgate before we can celebrate the exciting news.

Skyfall Teaser: Daniel Craig Is Back Again as Bond

Ready or not, James Bond is back! The first teaser for Skyfall is here, and while there's only a small bit of dialogue and not a lot of hints about the plot (though a word association game makes it sound like the title "Skyfall" is a mission that Bond has no problem completing), there is enough of star Daniel Craig looking slick and sexy to get me excited about this installment.

The ominous music and images we do see - including a shadowy figure I'm assuming is the villain played by Javier Bardem - make Skyfall seem more intense and high-stakes than the last film, Quantum of Solace. That's good news, since I didn't love that Bond movie. I can't wait to see if this movie is as good as his first outing, Casino Royale, when Skyfall comes out Nov. 9. Watch Ron Burgundy and the Boys in Two Anchorman 2 Teasers!

It's been eight long years since the original, but Anchorman 2 is so on, you guys. The movie is finally coming out in 2013, but two short teasers are here - and as brief as they are, they're both pretty funny. Will Ferrell's legendary Ron Burgundy is back on deck with his fellow news anchors, Brian Fantana (Paul Rudd), Champ Kind (David Koechner), and Brick Tamland (Steve Carell), and as usual, Brick needs help coming up with anything to say in both of the clips.

Like I said, they're short, and we also have no idea what the plot will be, but I dare you not to get excited that Anchorman 2 is a reality. Watch the teasers and let me know what you think after the jump.

Gael Garcia Bernal Brings No to Cannes and Talks "Quality Time" With the Kids

Gael Garcia Bernal is one of the celebrities at Cannes this year, and he's been busy talking up and celebrating his new film No. The picture is set in 1988, the year the Chilean people ousted dictator General Pinochet through a democratic vote. Gael plays René Saavedra, an ad man who accepts the potentially dangerous job of spearheading the TV campaign for the people against Pinochet, those who will vote "no" in the election.

Reviews of Gael's No have been quite good, and both he and director Pablo Larraín confessed to being really excited about the response. Pablo told us he cast the "wonderful" Gael as the leading man in the film because Gael has the mysteriousness to play René, a job that had to carry the whole production. Gael spoke about the challenges of creating a movie based on real events, his plans for a break, and how his career decisions are affected by his two kids, 1-year-old daughter Libertad and 3-year-old son Lázaro. Gael said:

On the challenges of making a movie based on a true story: "Any film is an interpretation of what happened, whether or not you're doing a true story. And in this film, we're doing a bio-film but a complete free interpretation where my character didn't exist. He's an amalgam of two characters, Garcia and Salcedo, who actually were the main publicists in the 'No' campaign."
On going full '80s in the film: "It's funny because now we laugh a lot. Always in retrospective, things that we took so seriously look so funny. The fashion, the microwave oven fascination - I remember when the microwave oven came out. I remember my mother talking about it . . . and it was like, 'What is that?' Nobody understood it. Invisible heat?!"
On how his life is way different now from the '80s: "We were fascinated by the TV as well. Because TV was such a big part of our lives back then. Now it's not so. For me it's not a big part at all, not for the last fifteen years. Only for football games and maybe the news. I don't watch TV at all. Before it used to be everybody. It was the only way you'd get the news, apart from newspapers."
On family time: "Last year I only did No, this film. I do produce stuff in my company in Mexico, and help out with a documentary film festival that we have. And that takes a lot of time. But I fortunately have the time to take it easy and spend the quality time that one should spend with their kids."
On if being a parent affects his career choices: "For the first time, yeah. There is one project that is there, maybe, and I think about it because I know that my kids are going to like it."

Buzz Blabber: Grey's Anatomy Finale Is a Big Upset

Battleship: Needs a Lifesaver

I don't remember aliens making an appearance in my own childhood sessions with Battleship, but I suppose when you try to make a toy into a feature-length film, you're afforded a few liberties. Unfortunately, the producers of Battleship may have spent too much time finding creative ways to explode things and not enough time on a plot, ending up with underutilized actors, in a wishy-washy destruction story.

Battleship starts out in 2005, when the US establishes the Beacon Project, an effort to reach out to potential life forms on a planet that has a similar climate as the Earth. The government sets up a powerful signal on Hawaii capable of sending transmissions to the foreign territory. Little do they know the frequencies are being received, and not by friendly folks. Enter brothers Alex (Taylor Kitsch) and Stone (Alexander Skarsgard). Stone is clean-cut and responsible while Alex is generally a mess. We first meet them in a bar scene that turns to Alex breaking into a convenience store to steal a chicken burrito for his future girlfriend, Sam (Brooklyn Decker). Thanks to Kitsch's surprising physical comedy skills, the scene is the highlight of the movie. It all goes to the aliens after that.

See Ashton Kutcher as Young Steve Jobs

We were pretty surprised when it was announced that Ashton Kutcher would play Steve Jobs in a biopic about the Apple founder, but seeing is believing. We have the first few images of Kutcher on the way to the set of Jobs, wearing the signature look of the deceased tech giant: black mock turtleneck, jeans, and New Balance sneakers. Check out the pictures and let us know if Kutcher's makeover has you convinced he can pull off the role.
