Cast the Girl With the Dragon Tattoo

Production on the much-anticipated American version of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo is moving forward - even though the cast hasn't been finalized yet. The film is set to be released on Dec. 21, 2011, and Daniel Craig is still the front-runner to play Mikael, but the role of Lisbeth is still up in the air. Carey Mulligan's name is still on the list, but check out the other contenders and tell me who gets your vote.

Breaking Dawn in 3-D - Awesome or Unncessary?

While you're still trying to figure out how Twilight's Breaking Dawn will work as two movies, here's a little more food for thought. Apparently Summit is toying with the idea of making the movies in 3-D. That means Edward's sparkly skin, Jacob's six pack, and all of the epic battle scenes could be even more in your face (literally) than ever before.

On the other hand, this also means (spoiler alert!) a potentially graphic birthing scene and a CGI half-vamp baby in more dimensions than we can stomach. 3-D tickets will certainly rake in even more money for the franchise, but will the extra effects really make it a better movie? What do you think of Breaking Dawn in 3-D - awesome or unnecessary?

Movie That Spoofs Spoof Movies in the Works

Didja get that? It's a spoof movie, but it's not spoofing serious movies - it's spoofing spoof films like Date Movie and Not Another Teen Movie (and the upcoming Wayans Brothers comedy, Dance Flick). Hence the title: Not Another Not Another Movie. This project is already making me chuckle, I can't wait to see it - especially since it stars Chevy Chase, whom I love. The Hollywood Reporter explains:

Chase plays a studio head who quits his floundering company, leaving his ex-con sibling ([Michael] Madsen) in charge. Soon their equally inept gangster friend ([Vinnie] Jones) takes over and assigns a production assistant (David Leo Schultz) to direct a spoof of spoof movies. [Burt] Reynolds plays an actor playing the director of the chaotic film within the film.

George Clooney and Stacy Keibler Fit in a Date Night

George Clooney broke from his press tour last night to take his girlfriend Stacy Keibler out on the town. The couple grabbed dinner at Dan Tana in LA, and George gentlemanly held the door for Stacy as they headed out to their car afterward. George had a rare night off from talking up his Oscar-nominated movie The Descendants. He recently joined director Alexander Payne for a New York Times "TimesTalks," and also did a fun spot for CBS. George helped bring back CBS News's "Person to Person" segment, a spot created by the subject of George's film Good Night and Good Luck, Edward R. Murrow. George showed off his LA home and revealed he's doing a post-New Year's cleanse.

Casting Update: Who's in For Les Misérables

The casting for upcoming musical Les Misérables is shaping right up, with most of the major parts now filled. The most recent news is that stage actress Samantha Barks will be taking on the role of Eponine, beating out previously rumored hopefuls like Taylor Swift and Lea Michele. The Tom Hooper-directed musical is one of the movies we're most looking forward to this year, so we've been eagerly eating up all the casting news. If you're also a fan of the beloved stage musical set during the 19th century, check out who's been cast in the film so far.

Hugh Jackman will star as protagonist Jean Valjean, a former prisoner who adopts orphan Cosette and turns his life around as the mayor of a small town.
Anne Hathaway will play Fantine, a woman forced to become a prostitute to support her young daughter, Cosette. She dies early on and requests that Jean Valjean raise her daughter in her absence.
Russell Crowe is attached to play Inspector Javert, Valjean's nemesis who becomes obsessed with bringing Valjean to justice.
Amanda Seyfried will play Cosette, Jean Valjean's adopted daughter, who falls for Marius.
Sacha Baron Cohen has the role of villain Monsieur Thenardier, a man who forces Cosette to work when she's a small child.
Eddie Redmayne will play Marius, a young man involved in the revolution, and the object of affection for both Cosette and Eponine.
The role of Eponine, the woman who is also in love with Marius, has gone to an unknown: Samantha Barks, a British stage actress who has played the part onstage before.
Aaron Tveit has a supporting role as Enjolras, a friend of Marius's who is also involved in a student-led revolution.

Michelle, George, and Jennifer Light Up the Directors Guild Awards

It was all about the behind-the-scenes masterminds of film and television at last night's Directors Guild of America Awards in LA. The evening's top honors went to The Artist - check out all the DGA winners here - which further sets it apart as a front runner in the Oscar race. George Clooney stepped out to support The Descendants' Alexander Payne, though the leading man was without his red-carpet counterpart, Stacy Keibler. The two should be back together again this afternoon for the SAG Awards, however. Michelle Williams presented the documentary DGA Award to Project Nim, and she'll be back out in just a few hours for SAG. Michelle and George are both nominees going into that one and had more big news to celebrate this week when they each earned Oscar nods.

Jennifer Aniston was a nominee for her work on the Lifetime movie Five, and she did have her arm candy in the form of boyfriend Justin Theroux. Jennifer and Justin apparently snuggled close during dinner and slipped out to a private afterparty to finish their date night.

Kristen Stewart Heads to Paris While Cannes Rumors Swirl

Kristen Stewart was in her standard travel uniform as she arrived at an airport in Paris on Sunday. She was coming from a visit home to California, where she met up with her Snow White and the Huntsman costars for a photo shoot. Kristen posed with Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron for an upcoming magazine spread, though we've yet to learn which publication. Kristen is gearing up for a busy Spring with the release of her action-packed movie, and apparently there may be some other big news. A Variety film editor tweeted about seeing On the Road writing, "OTR is finished. Took 1 year to edit, and is very, very good. According to a discerning and in-the-know viewer, it's so good that . . ." The tweet sparked tons of rumors, including a popular one that he is implying OTR will open this year's Cannes Film Festival in May.
