Jason Jones Gets to the Truth One Joke at a Time

I've been finding the segments The Daily Show's Jason Jones taped a couple of weeks ago in Iran exceptionally enlightening. His visit with an Iranian family last week did more to reveal similarities between everyday Americans and Iranians than any high-level diplomatic effort could have. Using humor, Jones shows how ridiculous stereotypes about Iranian people are.

Last night, we saw Jones's interviews with the leader of Iran's freedom movement, a Newsweek reporter, and former Vice President Ali Abtahi. Coincidentally, all three of those men were subsequently arrested by the authorities. Check it out above.

The Daily Show ~~faux~~ reporter Jason Jones has traded in his green screen for the backdrop of election-time Iran. Footage recorded by the curly-haired hottie recorded for 10 days in late May and early June will air next week. For the segment called "Jason Jones in Iran: Access of Evil," not only did Jones attend a speech by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, he also interviewed an underground rapper and a feminist blogger.

Some little known facts about the adventurous Jason? He grew up in Canada, minored in botany in college, and is married to fellow Daily Show correspondent Samantha Bee. (We can forget that fact for our purposes).

Samantha Bee and Jason Jones Take Their Funny to CBS

I love when my favorite Daily Show correspondents go on to do other cool things, and so I was happy to see this story that Samantha Bee and Jason Jones are co-writing a CBS comedy project in which they would also star.

Jones and Bee - who are married! I had no idea! - are also creating the as-yet-untitled show, which revolves around the world of a celebrity chef. Jones is set to play the chef, while Bee would play one of two women who keeps his cooking empire afloat.

I'd just been thinking recently that I'd love to see more from Bee, who's one of my favorite Daily Show correspondents but hasn't worked a ton outside the show. Same goes for Jones, actually, though he's going to appear on an upcoming episode of How I Met Your Mother. I'm curious to see what the two of them come up with for this project, especially since the realm of celebrity chefs seems ripe for comedy. Will Jones's character be more Gordon Ramsay or Rocco Dispirito? It should be fun to find out.

Not that Starbucks needs any more free publicity - which is what some folks are calling their retraining shutdown - but last night on The Daily Show, correspondent Jason Jones talked about the shut down. In this clip, Jones tries to figure out what to do during the "full-caffeine eclipse." My favorite parts include when he asks his local deli owner for a fancy drink only to be greeted with a completely blank expression. Or perhaps it was when he wanted to know where the "douchebags with laptops" were.

The MTV Movie Awards fun moved from the stage into last night's press room, where some of the victors posed for the first time with their newly acquired golden popcorns. Best Fight winners Bryce Dallas Howard and Xavier Samuel made do without their fellow honoree, Robert Pattinson, while Harry Potter's Best Villain, Tom Felton, seemed pleased with his victory. Some of the presenters also made time to smile in the reporters' area, with Bad Teacher duo Cameron Diaz and Jason Segel warming things up for Green Lantern's Blake Lively. The Element of Surprise
Ashtanga and Bikram have one thing in common - the sequence of poses are the same no matter who teaches it or what city you're in. Knowing what is coming may bring a deeper awareness to your practice, but it can also bring up negative feelings: you may hate certain poses, or the same sequence in every class may be boring after awhile - it can also cause repetitive stress injuries. Vinyasa is different because it mixes things up, which keeps you and your muscles on their toes. Incorporating different standing, seated, and inverted poses will strengthen your entire body, and prevent the plateau effect you might experience from classes that are repetitive.

Studios often offer Vinyasa classes based on levels such as 1, 2, 3, or combo levels such as 1/2 so you know exactly what ability the class is geared toward. There is something beautiful about listening to the sound of 30 people breathing simultaneously, but when you're not in the mood for Tony the Om-ing Exhaler's deep moaning breaths, you'll be pleasantly surprised to find that many Vinyasa instructors play music during class. Some melodies are subtle and serene, while some teachers really like to pump up the loud, tabla beats. You might also find some teachers share their favorite artists, so don't worry if you're not into Indian Pop music - your teacher might end class with some calming Sarah McLachlan, Norah Jones, or Jason Mraz.

The Muppets shut down Hollywood Boulevard in LA yesterday for the world premiere of their new movie. Kermit the Frog was joined by his whole crew - Gonzo, Rolf, Animal, Fozzy, and newcomer Walter - arriving in a Jeep to kick off the green-carpet processional of stars and puppets. Miss Piggy followed closely behind in her own convertible, wearing Jeremy Scott and Louboutins, and blew kisses to the crowd. We talked to Piggy and Kermit about their return to the big screen, and the pair joked that this film brought them closer together.

We also spoke with some of the human stars including Amy Adams and Jason Segel. Jason said it was a dream come true to work with the Muppets and he plans on inviting all of them, including his puppet brother Walter, over for Thanksgiving dinner so they can reenact the landing on Plymouth Rock. Many of Jason's How I Met Your Mother costars also stepped out to support his latest venture including Alyson Hannigan, Josh Radnor, and Neil Patrick Harris, who has a small role in the film. New Couple Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudeikis Head Back to NYC For New Year's Day

Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudeikis were arm in arm for a coffee date in the Big Apple yesterday. The pair celebrated New Year's Day in NYC after returning from a holiday trip together to Jason's hometown in Kansas. Olivia and Jason went public with their romance while visiting his family in the Midwest, attending a Kansas University Jayhawks game together on Thursday night, both of them decked out in team gear.

The pair have apparently been dating for at least a month, with Olivia attending SNL afterparties hand in hand with her new guy. Olivia, whose divorce from Italian prince Tao Ruspoli was finalized this Fall, was linked to several hot Hollywood guys after she split from her husband. Nonetheless, Jason is the first she's stepped out with since then. Jason's last high-profile romance was with January Jones, but the pair parted ways early last year, several months before she announced that she was expecting her first child as single mother.
