Back when Alanis Morissette covered Fergie's "My Humps," I thought it was funny. Now Australian pop star Sia has done a cover of Britney's "Gimme More", which comes to us via Underwire, and it actually makes me like the song a little more. Slowed down and made into a sweeter tune, Sia's song is less nightclub and more coffee shop.

I've never understood how the ridiculously compelling 1975 documentary Grey Gardens ended up as a Broadway musical. (Given, I haven't seen it, but the whole concept seems wrong somehow.) But now that the trailer is out, I'm getting used to — maybe even fond of — the idea of Grey Gardens as an HBO movie starring Jessica Lange and Drew Barrymore.
Debuting on April 18, Grey Gardens reinterprets the raw slice-of-life captured so gracefully by the Maysles brothers, the documentarians behind Gimme Shelter.

We've now heard all the singers in American Idol's top 36 sing at least once, and I have to say, I'm not sure this season is blowing me away. A few favorites have emerged, but — maybe it's just because there are so many people — most of the singers seem stuck at the same level of mediocrity. Tuesday's performance from the third group of 12 continued that trend: A couple of performances stood out for being good, several others stood out for being terrible, and the rest was just one big, unwieldy glob.

Before Flight of the Conchords and The Lonely Island were recording hilarious parody songs, there was Spinal Tap. The spoof metal band headed up the 1984 This is Spinal Tap mockumentary and vaulted into the spotlight with a couple of classic albums, including songs like "Stonehenge" and "Gimme Some Money."
And now, Spinal Tap is back!

With Christina Aguilera pregnant, Jessica Simpson divorced, and Britney Spears — well, where to start? — we are in serious need of fresh young starlets. Why Lily Allen isn't soaring to the top of the charts and leading a new trend in female pop singers baffles me.

Finally, we can understand all the lyrics to Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" — and while watching a beautifully languid video. It's been more than a month since punk legend Patti Smith released her covers album called Twelve, featuring her take on such songs as "The Boy In the Bubble" by Paul Simon, the Rolling Stones's "Gimme Shelter," Jefferson Airplane's "White Rabbit." But it was worth the wait for this video of Smith's "Teen Spirit" cover, which premiered today on AOL's Spinner.
