Hollywood has remake fever, but the news that Fantastic Four is going to be rebooted just two years after the last film came out strikes me as a little unnecessary.
2005's Fantastic Four and its sequel starred Jessica Alba, Ioan Gruffudd, Chris Evans, and Michael Chiklis, and while the films did OK, they didn't exactly break Spider-Man records. No news yet on whether the aforementioned foursome will reprise their roles or if they'll all be replaced.

Not only can Steve Carell get animals to board an ark — he can also entice people to go to the movies. Carell's Evan Almighty took the No. 1 spot at the weekend box office, bumping The Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer from its temporary throne.

While there are several new releases coming out this weekend (Evan Almighty, A Mighty Heart, 1408, and others), it's hard to say if any of them will definitely knock The Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer off of its box office throne. What do you think?

This weekend the Fantastic Four sequel, Rise of the Silver Surfer, "flamed on" to take the top slot at the box office, raking in an impressive $57.4 million. This just beats the first Fantastic Four movie's opening weekend which brought in $56 million last year.
In second place was Ocean's Thirteen with $19 million while Knocked Up followed behind at No.

The Fantastic Four movie that came out before this summer's Rise of the Silver Surfer made some money in the box office, but was given pretty bad reviews.
As poorly as those reviews may have been, though, it fared much better than this even earlier Fantastic Four movie did, despite its stellar cast and super-impressive special effects (sarcasm alert). I dug this photo up on Wikipedia, and I'm so glad I did.

This sequel to the first Fantastic Four movie finds the superheroes battling the Silver Surfer, a liquidy metallic guy who can change matter and who apparently "eats planets." According to this new trailer, "Everywhere this thing goes, eight days later, the planet dies." So, it's going to be a challenge taking care of this surfer dude.
