The Scavos, Hodges, and Solises are getting some new neighbors. An Italian family is moving to Desperate Housewives's Wisteria Lane — led by Drea de Matteo of The Sopranos.
The Emmy-winning de Matteo, most recently seen on TV in Sons of Anarchy, will be a series regular, playing the "vixenish" new housewife.

In some ways these final two hours of the fifth season of Desperate Housewives seem like one long way to wrap up Dave's story. Then again, as long as his story is all wrapped up, I guess I'm happy! They're a pretty decent two hours, though, and they set the stage for next season: Bree's divorce just got messier (and far more interesting!), Lynette gets some stunning news just as Tom's trying to go back to school, and there's a new girl on the block at the Solis house.

The theme of this week's episode of Desperate Housewives is "masks," which could, theoretically, be the theme of most DH episodes. Susan and Jackson mask the fact that their upcoming wedding isn't for love, Mike masks his lingering feelings for Susan, Tom wants a mask for real, Gaby masks her anxiety that financial ruin will find her again and Bree masks . .

Little MJ is used as a pawn in a couple of the housewives' little schemes in this episode of Desperate Housewives which is all about — you guessed it — bargaining. Everyone wants something in this episode, be it a divorce, a marriage, an invitation to a sleepover, sex every day for a month, or to wear makeup. To chat about all the bargains, wins and losses, read more

In the wake of Edie's death, Wisteria Lane appears to be a little bit more subdued than normal on Desperate Housewives — no major scandals or murders or fights. Just some good old-fashioned deceptions and marriage trouble. I think this week's episode is a step up from last week's, but then again, I'm not sure that's hard to do!

Five shows in their fifth seasons have celebrated the shooting of their 100th episodes — and all with some kind of awesomely huge (or, in the case of Lost, intricately detailed!) cake. Check out my slideshow of pictures from 100th episode celebrations for Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy, House, Lost and The Office. They all look so delicious!

Instead of Mary Alice this week, we have guest dead voice Edie narrating from the grave on Desperate Housewives. The episode follows Lynette, Gaby, Susan, Bree and Mrs. McCluskey as they drive four hours each way to deliver Edie's ashes to her son, Travers. Along the way, they reminisce about Edie, eternal frenemy.

We won't be seeing any new episodes of Desperate Housewives for four more weeks, so I'm glad this week's episode is pretty satisfying! We're finally wrapping up the whole Dave storyline, which I find to be a big relief. I've liked his creepiness on the show but I think I've had enough of his story.

A little Sapphic storyline shakes things up on Desperate Housewives this week as Susan's actions are misinterpreted by the woman she assists at the school. In other news, Lynette is having a hard time getting back into the advertising world and feels like her age (43) is working against her, Gaby is suspicious of a woman working closely with Carlos and Bree is positively infuriated by her kleptomaniac husband.
Last week there was a murder on DH but they don't really get back to that much in this week's episode, which I found a little disappointing.

New episodes of Desperate Housewives are back this week with one that focuses on jobs and what one's job means for one's identity. Also, there's some more Susan-Katherine drama (and Susan finally acts somewhat maturely for once!), Gaby gets even more enmeshed in Carlos's boss's affair, and Edie creeps closer to knowing what the heck is up with dear old Dave.
Personally, though, I can't seem to get over Tom's cancer comment about Lynette at the dinner with a prospective employer.
