One Dolce & Gabbana Dress, Three Vogue Covers

This admittedly gorgeous white Dolce & Gabbana dress has graced the covers of French Vogue, German Vogue, and Vogue Spain. That makes it the unofficial best dress of the Spring 2011 season, and we'll be seeing versions of it in stores everywhere soon. Take a close look at the covers, and tell us: do you like that everyone is of the same mind, or does it bother you that three major fashion mags chose the same dress?

Although Ikea does a terrific job creating stylish, affordable furniture, the pieces start to lose their luster when you realize that everyone and their mom owns a "MALM." Thanks to a new retailer, Mykea, you can dress your bare bones Ikea furniture pieces to impress. The company sells "design covers," a cross between wallpaper and decals, specially sized to fit Ikea's most popular furniture pieces, like the Billy Bookcase, the Expedit Coffee Table, etc. You can choose from a wide selection of designs by various artists or you can actually submit your own designs and make a 10 percent commission off of the sales of your work. Pretty fab, huh? The only downfall is that Mykea only ships to select countries in Europe - hopefully they'll cross the pond one day soon.

Buzz In: Which Song Covers Do You Like Better Than the Original?

Cover songs typically get a bad rap, but every once and a while a remake of a catchy track comes along that's worthy of its predecessor. (Just take Sinead O'Connor's version of Prince's "Nothing Compares 2 U," for instance).

Kelly Clarkson did her own renditions of The White Stripes's "Seven Nation Army" and Kings of Leon's "Use Somebody" in concert earlier this week, and her samplings weren't half bad. (Check 'em out here). It got me thinking about the other great remakes out there - I'm a big fan of Cat Powers's cover albums, Sia's "Gimme More," and even some of the takes on Rihanna's "Umbrella" that ran rampant two years ago, like Mandy Moore's.

A Wonderful Playlist of "What a Wonderful World" Covers

Yesterday's news of Forest Whitaker's Louis Armstrong biopic immediately made me think of the last time I heard the song that will be the movie's title: "What a Wonderful World." My ears pricked up when I heard the song as covered by Joey Ramone in the recent Simon Pegg comedy How to Lose Friends and Alienate People. I wasn't thrilled with the movie as a whole, but I like a lot of the music in it - especially this track.

Nobody can do "What a Wonderful World" quite like Louie did, but that hasn't stopped a bajillion musicians from trying. Just doing a quick search on imeem brings up many varied covers, from Ghoul's death metal version (which doesn't sound like a wonderful world at all), to Eddy Arnold's lovely version that is currently being used in a teaser trailer for Oliver Stone's movie, W.

I sifted through the extensive list and picked out my favorite versions of the song and still, no matter how many times I hear it (which is many now), it brings a dippy smile to my face. Stephenie Meyer's final installment in the Twilight series, Breaking Dawn, sold 1.3 million copies in one day, the AP reports.
The new Metallica album, Death Magnetic will be released on a Friday - September 12 - rather than on a Tuesday, which is the norm, writes Billboard.
Stephen Root of Office Space and NewsRadio is joining Pushing Daisies for four episodes as a character with connections to both Ned's dad and Chuck's dad, Entertainment Weekly reports.
According to ComingSoon, Universal Pictures will make an action-adventure Island of Lost Souls, an adaptation of the Danish film De fortabte sjaeles o.
So You Think You Can Dance has been officially renewed for a fifth season, Variety reports.
Zap2It has the news that Robert De Niro will join Mel Gibson for the dramatic movie Edge of Darkness.
E! reports that, according to Shonda Rhimes, the rumors that Izzie will have a brain tumor on Grey's Anatomy are totally bogus.

Which is Your Favorite "Hallelujah"?

When American Idol contestant Jason Castro sang a cover of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" in the semifinals a couple of weeks back, he apparently touched off a new revival of the song: The Jeff Buckley version of "Hallelujah" hit the No. 1 spot on the iTunes Music Store download charts following Castro's performance and remains in the top 30 almost two weeks later, and Castro's own version has also been selling well.

Apparently, this "Hallelujah" rediscovery isn't unusual. The song, once a cult favorite, tends to reappear every few years as different generations discover it through avenues ranging from Shrek to The OC.

That got me thinking: Do you have a go-to version of "Hallelujah"? Do you prefer Cohen's original take, or Buckley's well-known version, or John Cale's, which has been featured on Scrubs? Or is your favorite another cover altogether?

Well Played: Rilo Kiley Covers "Let My Love Open the Door"

Covers can be an iffy thing. Nothing sucks more than having a song you like butchered to pieces, and conversely, it's a bit of an awesome surprise when a song you like is redone well. Thankfully, Rilo Kiley recently did a super job covering Pete Townshend's "Let My Love Open the Door" at South by Southwest.

It's a sweet, feel-good song in general and the cover doesn't mess with it too much, which is great. I like it way more than the Steve Carell-Dane Cook cover in Dan in Real Life, that's for sure.

Honoring Elvis: Three "Suspicious Minds" Covers

Today marks the 30th anniversary of Elvis Presley's death, and it seems wrong not to honor The King with a musical interlude. I got a little depressed browsing the photos of late-model Elvis - man, did he look rough in the end - so I'm cheering myself up with one of my favorite Elvis songs, "Suspicious Minds," which is widely credited with fueling his 1968 comeback.

The high-energy anthem has been covered an astounding number of times in myriad different ways. As a kid, I loved the Fine Young Cannibals version (hey, I'm not ashamed; my parents had the CD), so I thought I'd share it. Free Downloads! Six Covers by the Cold War Kids

Cold War Kids already won me over with a stellar debut album, Robbers & Cowards, and the awesome interview the band did for BuzzSugar. But now, the boys from Long Beach have done something even cooler: They've posted free MP3s of six cover songs that the band played at a recent breast-cancer benefit show.

What's in Your Pillow?

So I've already told you the ugly truth behind Dust Bunnies and if you suffer from allergies to this not so cute problem, you really should re-evaluate your pillow situation.

How long have you had your pillow? Consider this: After about 10 years about 10% of your pillow's weight comes not from the fluffy stuffing, but from dust mites, mold, fungus and bacteria. Gross, huh?

Try these tips to keep your pillows:

Replace all household pillows (even those in guest rooms) every three years.
Wash your pillows in the washing machine on hot and then throw then in the dryer. Drying immediately is important to stop any mold growth.
Storing pillows in attics (basements, storage lockers, etc) is not the best idea as dark damp places are breeding grounds for allergens.
Try to keep pillows off the floor, dust bunnies and mites congregate on the floor (especially hard wood floors).
Consider buying a pillow encasing like SatinSoft Supreme Allergy Pillow Cover ($8.99). Buy them on the National Allergy Website.

Fit's Tip: Next time you start a pillow fight, imagine accidentally busting open a 10 year old pillow on your best friend's head. Ewwwww.
