Seeing all the publicity around Kit Kittredge: An American Girl has me thinking about how normal the film's young star, Abigail Breslin, seems. She's already got an Oscar nomination and some headlining roles under her belt, and so far it's hard to imagine her winding up like so many other young actors these days, getting attention for their downward spirals rather than their stellar performances. So, as a plea to keep Breslin on the up-and-up, I thought it would be fun to check out some young stars who made good. No, they didn't all win Oscars; some had dark years or briefly faded out of the spotlight. But overall, they grew into seemingly nice people with Hollywood careers to be proud of. Channing Tatum and His Magic Mike Costars Go Shirtless For EW

The stars of Magic Mike will show the world their strippin' moves when the film hits theaters in June, and a handful of the guys are giving us a sneak peek on this week's cover of Entertainment Weekly. Leading man Channing Tatum is joined by costars Matthew McConaughey, Joe Manganiello, and Matt Bomer for a hot photo shoot, and of course, an interview. Once you're done ogling the eye candy, here are a few highlights from the interview:

Tatum on the vibe on set: "Actors, generally, if we finish our scenes early one day, we go home. It wasn't like that on this set. Especially during the dances - we were there cheering everybody on."
Tatum on McConaughey getting his thong ripped off by rowdy fans: "It was a collection of women being like, 'I have to tip him,' and then the weight of all the dollar bills in their hands just took [his thong] off."
Manganiello on how True Blood prepped him: "When I came in for a meeting with the casting director, she hadn't seen True Blood. So she said, 'Are you going to be comfortable with partial nudity?' And I go, 'Have you seen my show? I'm the poster child for that.'"

When basketball star Shaquille O'Neal was still a kid, he knew that he had to get good grades before he could to play sports.

"In our home we had a rule: No pass, no play," his mother, Lucille O'Neal, told Yahoo! Shine in an interview. "If you didn't pass the grade, then you weren't allowed to play the extracurricular activity." That dedication to his studies is still strong: On May 5, the four-time world champion and 15-time All Star player earned his doctorate in education from Barry University in Miami. That's earned, mind you, not honorary. According to The Miami Herald, Shaq, 40, spent the past 4 1/2 years working toward a doctoral degree in organizational learning and leadership with a specialization in human resource development, studying before and after NBA games and between segments as a sports analyst on TV.

What to Expect Director Kirk Jones Shares the Personal Stories He Worked Into the Upcoming Film

Chances are you probably have a dog-eared copy of What to Expect When You're Expecting laying around your house. The "pregnancy bible" has been the first stop for information for expectant mamas since 1985, and while the nonfiction book has undergone four significant updates since its debut, few readers probably foresaw it being turned into a movie - unless it was a film being shown in childbirth classes. But under the direction of Kirk Jones, himself a father of three boys between the ages of five and 21, the book makes the feature film transition, telling five interconnected story lines about couples trying to start their families. With stars like Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Lopez, Elizabeth Banks, Anna Kendrick, and Brooklyn Decker all part of the ensemble, the movie is getting significant buzz prior to its May 18 opening. I sat down with the director to discuss his interest in the project, and what it was like directing so many stars who aren't parents themselves.

LilSugar: What attracted you to a movie about pregnancy and babies?
Kirk Jones: For 27 months of my life I've been attached to my wife who was pregnant. One of the things that attracted me to the movie was explaining what that journey is like for guys as well as girls. Understandably, over the years women have been the focus of pregnancy subjects in movies because they're the ones physically going through the changes and all that. Some of the language and comedy in the park with the dudes was raw and fresh.

LS: Did What to Expect When You're Expecting impact you at all when you were expecting your first child?
KJ: When you have that first one, everything is so scary! If you bought a refrigerator from a store, you get more instructions on how to work it than you do a baby when you come out of hospital. Its like bye-bye; good luck!

LS: Did you bring any of your personal experience with your wife's three pregnancies into the film?
KJ: I did. Unfortunately, it was the slightly more tragic one. As is really common, my wife and I, as have a number of our friends, experienced a miscarriage. So when I first saw the script I don't think that story was in [it]. So one of the contributions I made was asking if that story could be included, because I thought if we're presenting pregnancy, we should present the whole story and not just sweet, happy bits. And then just being on set, because I've been there and I just remember the funny little things that happen. Having been through it, I felt kind of qualified to add things here and there.

OnSugar Blog: If the World Revolved Around Families . . .

Lots of moms like to think out loud, and Jo Aaron is one of them. Here is one of the latest posts to her Mommy Brain blog.

While innocently looking for a restaurant suggestion online the other day, I stumbled across an anti-parent, anti-child blog entry that just annoyed me. It was an angry (and narrow-minded, in my opinion) piece about how awful it is when this particular person has to dine with families at his favorite restaurants. He/she literally suggested that families shouldn't be allowed to dine in restaurants at all, and most definitely not the ones that are any good.

Here are my guesses:

#1, this person is somewhere between 21-26.

#2, this person will have a completely different blog in about 5-10 years when he/she has kids of his/her own and realizes that going out for dinner is like parental heroin . . . you know, your fix is having someone else prepare and clean up your meal while all you have to do is watch the kids and make sure they don't drive the other patrons nuts. Because that's the easy part. Right.

So, while I get that I shouldn't be carting my kids off to the Pump Room for a 9PM Saturday night reservation, I don't think it's such a crime to have them enjoy a 5:30PM reservation at a local haunt regardless of how cool and trendy it is this week. Instead of digitally flicking this guy or gal off by replying to his/her post, instead I thought I'd make a list of all of the ways that the world would be a better place for those of us with kids . . . maybe this will drive it home:

If the world revolved around families, there would be no such thing as lines at the grocery store. Instead of spending 15 minutes telling our kids to stop touching everything in the checkout line, like candy, magazines, or batteries, we'd just breeze through the aisles, yell our credit card numbers out to the teller as we beelined to our cars. No fuss, no muss.
If the world revolved around families, there would be a Starbucks with dozens of drive-thru windows and on-duty baristas somewhere between my house and school.
If the world revolved around families, there would be TVs with DVD players and current Disney movies playing in every waiting room in the United States. This includes all airport terminals as well. And speaking of airports...
If the world revolved around families, there would be such a thing as teleportation like on Star Trek (yes, I'm a nerd), so that families would never, never, never, ever have to deal with air travel at all.
If the world revolved around families, no one with kids would ever have to go to the DMV, post office, or emergency room.

Tips For Entertaining Your Kids at a Wedding

Kids and weddings don't always make the most natural partners. Brides often dislike pint-size guests' affinity for screaming out at inappropriate times and their tendency to hog the spotlight (don't they know she's the star!?), while kids can find the hours-long events mind-numbingly boring. Finding a way to make everybody happy can be tough, but follow our advice and odds are, the whole family will enjoy your next wedding - and the bride won't regret adding your children to the invite.

Before you go, communicate! Prepare your child for the day's events. Will the reception be short or long, and will they be expected to sit quietly and pay attention? How long do you plan on staying at the reception and is it outdoors or in? Let your kids know in advance what's coming, and they'll be more likely to be on good behavior.
Bring along quiet activities for the reception. Soft books for young children or a noise-free, inconspicuous hand-held video game for older ones can be a lifesaver for ceremonies, especially if they include lengthy religious services.
Think food. Hopefully the couple has thought ahead to order kid-friendly meals, but just in case, pack extra snacks for kids who might not like the steak or chicken options, or prepare for your kids to fill up on wedding cake.

A First Look at the Rosie Pope Collection For A Pea in the Pod

It really is looking like this is the Summer of the British Invasion. With British boy bands burning up the charts, the London Olympics just a few months away, and the Queen's jubilee celebration about to begin, we can't turn around without spotting the Union Jack! Now the maternity world is set to be conquered by none other than Pregnant in Heels star and British expat Rosie Pope. As we told you earlier this year, Rosie Pope is creating a capsule collection for A Pea in the Pod filled with designs similar to her own high-end boutique pieces, but at a fraction of the price (pieces from the collection will start at $85).

I caught up with the expectant Rosie (she's less than two weeks away from delivering her third child and the second season of her show) to see the collection firsthand - and it's beautiful. The 15 "desk-to-dinner" pieces - including a shirt dress, shifts, silk tops, blazers, and cardigans - are designed to make moms-to-be feel more glamorous than ever before. And as for the design details, Rosie said she was inspired by what Kate Middleton wears. For all of the bending down the nonpregnant Duchess must do when greeting people, she chooses tops with higher necklines and lower backs, thus avoiding wardrobe malfunctions. Rosie employed the same principle for her new collection, hoping to keep pregnant women's growing assets covered up, but not in a frumpy way. When asked about an overall theme for the collection, she noted that it definitely has sex on its mind - just like many of her clients on the show this season! Anna Paquin debuted her tiny baby bump on the red carpet at the White House Correspondents' Dinner in Washington DC tonight. She and husband Stephen Moyer are expecting their first child together and announced the exciting news just last week. The couple, who have been married since 2010, will welcome the baby this Fall. Anna's pregnant belly was covered in a sexy black Herve Leroux gown for tonight's event, which has also brought out Kate Hudson, Kim Kardashian, Claire Danes, and other stars.

Happy birthday, Jessica Alba! The erstwhile action star and devoted mom of two turns 31 on Saturday, and to celebrate we are taking a look at how Jessica's stayed fit while enjoying life throughout the years.

Bootcamp style: It's all about high intensity for Jessica. She enlists the help of Barry's Bootcamp, a favorite with starlets in LA, to get fast results. Each workout contains high-intensity cardio intervals and strength training for an all-in-one session that saves time.

Reluctant workout: Even though she works hard in the gym (which isn't always a good thing: to get ready for a photo shoot soon after having her first child, she exercised so hard she said she cried!), she's no fitness fanatic. "I'm not a big workout person," she told Self. "Every single day, I tell my girlfriends we're starting a regimen. And then it's, like, 'Want to get dinner? Want a glass of wine?'" Jessica does, however, know how to keep workouts fun; she alternates between the gym, her treadmill at home, swimming, and yoga to keep from becoming bored.

Diet-free zone: Jessica doesn't like to diet, so instead she eats clean all the time. “Diets are for the birds. I think you have to eat in a way that makes you feel your best. I include a lot of vegetables and lean protein and fruit and grains in my diet," she told Self.

The importance of sleep: Running a company, being a mom, and starring in films can jam-pack anyone's schedule, so Jessica gets her workouts out of the way early in the morning. Sometimes, however, she knows it's healthier to catch up on sleep than continue to tire out her body. "Slacked off this am on the work out but the sleep was the best I've had in three weeks. Tomorrow its ON . . . " she once tweeted. Listening to your body is the best way to tell if you are skipping a workout because of a lame excuse or because you actually need to rest.
