TV Tonight: Canterbury's Law
Julianna Margulies hasn't had a regular TV gig since she left ER in 2000, but tonight she returns to the small screen — and this time, she's in charge of her own ensemble. In Canterbury's Law, which premieres tonight on Fox, Margulies stars as Elizabeth Canterbury, a tough-talking defense attorney with her own sad past: Her young son was abducted, and the case has never been solved.
Canterbury's Law has a good pedigree — its executive producers are the folks behind Rescue Me — but in the couple of episodes Fox sent to critics (including tonight's premiere), it suffers from the problem of too many convenient twists.
