Lorraine Hansberry's 1959 play A Raisin in the Sun is already a true theater classic: It was the first play written by an African American woman to be performed on Broadway, and the original cast — including Sidney Poitier and current Oscar nominee Ruby Dee — was recognized with four Tony Awards. More than 40 years later, a 2004 revival starring Sean Combs, Phylicia Rashad, and Audra McDonald took home two Tony awards of its own.
Now, the majority of the Broadway cast has reunited for a television adaptation for ABC, which will air next Monday, Feb.

Doubt, Milk, and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button all picked up another batch of nominations Thursday when the nominees for this year's Screen Actors Guild Awards were announced in Hollywood. Doubt led all nominees with five nods (four for acting, one for the best motion picture ensemble), while Milk and Benjamin Button had three apiece. Like last week's Golden Globes, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are among the acting nominees, Robert Downey Jr. got a nod for Tropic Thunder, and Heath Ledger was nominated posthumously for The Dark Knight.

Hollywood was up bright and early this morning for the announcement of the nominees for the 2008 Primetime Emmy Awards. - Raisin looks sweet. ABC's TV-movie adaptation of A Raisin in the Sun performed well on Monday night. It wasn't a blockbuster by any means, but at a time when TV movies generally don't draw huge audiences, an average of 12.7 million viewers is nothing to sneeze at.
