Potentially NSFW: See Jennifer Lawrence's Labor-Intensive X-Men Transformation

It's been 10 years since Rebecca Romijn played the blue-skinned Mystique on X-Men, and now Jennifer Lawrence, who stars in the most recent film in the series, X-Men: First Class, is the lady covered in the royal-hued paint. But getting the scaly, marbled getup just the right hue and texture is no easy feat. In fact, in a behind-the-scenes video featured on the flick's soon-to-be-released Blu-ray and DVD, it's revealed that each time Jennifer's body paint and prosthetics were applied, it took a team of six makeup artists about seven hours to complete.

Of the experience with her makeup team, Jennifer said, "It's like a sleepover, except I'm naked and being painted." Watch as Jennifer is airbrushed, splattered, and latexed; there's no CG here, folks. But beware: some parts include brief, albeit rather modest, nudity and may be NSFW.

When X-Men: First Class debuts in theaters today, we'll meet the mutants as their younger selves in the 1960s. However, the onscreen mutants we know best are the ones that have appeared in the four previous movies, like Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart. So before you hit the theater and meet the mutants decades ago, first go back to 2000 and meet them in the first X-Men movie. In the trailer below, you'll see Stewart as Professor X in all his bald glory, as well as Rebecca Romijn stealing the show as Mystique. Can't get enough? Mutant Yearbook: X-Men Characters Then and Now

X-Men: First Class launches into theaters this Friday, and since it's a prequel set in the 1960s, we get to meet the mutants before they have fully developed their special powers. Since a few of the characters have appeared in previous X-Men movies, I thought we could see how they've grown up. Check out the actors who have played the older and younger versions of the comic book heroes.

The New X-Men: First Class Trailer Features More Teenage Mutants, Awesomeness

I was already psyched when the original X-Men: First Class trailer debuted, and now that there's a longer preview, my excitement is getting pretty out of control. Like the first trailer, we see lots of young Magneto and Professor X (Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy) - but this time, there's an equal focus on the youthful students of Xavier's School For Gifted Youngsters.

This means more footage of Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, Lucas Till as Havok, and so on. You also get to hear more angsty dialogue (being a teenage mutant kind of sucks, guys) and see a little bit of romance between Lawrence and Hoult. To watch the new preview, just

Well, That Was Fast: Deadpool Spinoff Now in the Works

I was just wondering which other character (after Wolverine and Magneto) in the X-Men universe should be the focus of an origins movie, and while the majority vote in that poll goes to Gambit, Fox has announced today that Deadpool will be the next character to get his own movie. Ryan Reynolds will reportedly reprise the role he brought to life in the recent box office hit X-Men Origins: Wolverine:

Deadpool is known as "the merc with a mouth," a character that under Reynolds lived up to his billing in Wolverine until the end, when the movie deviated from the comic book persona, imbuing him with several superpowers and sewing his mouth shut.

It is understood that Reynolds would regain the ability to mouth off, with the movie going back to the roots of the character known for his slapstick tone and propensity to break the fourth wall. The character also was disfigured in Wolverine, though it's unclear at this time how much the studio would want to mess with Reynolds' handsome mug.

"Slapstick tone?" "Reynolds' handsome mug?" I might just love it already. What do you think? Can Reynolds carry a whole movie like this on his own?

After Wolverine and Magneto, What Other X-Men Origin Story Do You Want to See?

We have Wolverine's beginnings down at this point, thanks to this past weekend's blockbuster, and the story of how Professor X and Magneto came to be friends is already in the works. Now I'm curious which character in the X-Men universe should be next in line to get the "origins" treatment?

What about Storm's story? Her roots in Africa are intriguing. I also think it would be interesting to learn more about both Jean Grey and Cyclops's childhoods. And after seeing Deadpool and Gambit over the weekend, I think both characters have the kinds of rich backgrounds that could fill out an entire movie.

What do you think? After Wolverine and Magneto, whose origin story should Hollywood get to work on next?
