Say what you will about Woody Allen and his sordid relationship history, but the man knows how to cast female actors in great roles. Witness Dianne Wiest in Bullets Over Broadway, Mia Farrow in Hannah and Her Sisters, and — of course — Diane Keaton in Annie Hall. Perhaps not coincidentally, those are also some of my favorite Woody Allen movies.

Black Friday is just around the corner, so I hope you're keeping up with my gift guides for a holiday shopping head start.
Today we're tackling your adult sis — sometimes the sister you're closest to in age and interests can somehow be the hardest to shop for. She's hip and a total pop culture junkie like you, so you don't want to let her down.

Every few years, a woman-heavy ensemble hits the theaters, and I always hope it's going to be as good as the standard, Steel Magnolias. This year's flick, Women in Trouble, stars Carla Gugino, Connie Britton, Marley Shelton, Emanuelle Chriqui, and Sarah Clarke as the various women from different walks of life. One's a porn star, one's a masseuse, one's a flight attendant, and many of them are in their bras in this trailer.

The Tuesday night CW block made a particularly strong showing this week. Personally, I thought 90210 had one of its best episodes of the season — nice character development, a few teary moments, and some "oh no she didn't" disses. And as for Melrose Place, I've got two words for you: Heather Locklear.

You may recall that Amy Sherman-Palladino, the creator behind Gilmore Girls, left the show shortly before its final season because of disagreements with Warner Bros — but now, she reveals in a recent interview that she'd like to bring back Lorelai and Rory to the big screen!
I hope that some Hollywood studios are listening, and take her up on her suggestion. While it's just a wish of hers (and mine) at the moment, I miss the pop culture quips and sweet relationship moments that the Gilmore women delivered each week.

Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner may be dominating the promotional circuit right now, but they're not the only cast members with something to say about New Moon. I had the opportunity to chat with costars Kellan Lutz and Ashley Greene, aka Emmett and Alice Cullen, during their recent stopover in SF. They chatted about their characters, the vampire craze, and what it's like to be a "Twilight celebrity."

You can rarely accuse a romantic comedy of being original, and the set up for Leap Year is no different. Amy Adams stars as Anna, a woman who's waiting for her boyfriend (Adam Scott) to propose when she learns that according to Irish tradition, women are "allowed" to propose to men on February 29, leap day. She chases him to Dublin and when she's diverted to Wales, meets a handsome stranger (Matthew Goode) who makes her rethink her scheme and relationship.
