Box Office: Tyler Perry's No. 1 Movie

This past weekend at the box office was one of the most surprising I’ve seen in a long time. Tyler Perry’s play-turned-movie Why Did I Get Married? took the No. 1 spot by a long shot, finally knocking The Rock’s Game Plan into second place. The George Clooney starrer, Michael Clayton, leapt up the list to No. 3 as it expanded to wide release. Clayton just barely came in above the drama/thriller We Own the Night.

The Heartbreak Kid weakly rounded out the top five bringing in $7.4 million. Most surprisingly, the talented, good-looking cast of Elizabeth: The Golden Age couldn’t save the movie from its measly $6 million take. The period piece landed in sixth place.

This upcoming weekend audiences have their pick of drama (Things We Lost in the Fire), more drama (Reservation Road), thrills (Gone Baby Gone), more thrills (Rendition) and horror (30 Days of Night).

Fall Movie Preview: Just Drama

Well it's September, folks, and the summertime movie season is officially over. Now we have a whole new crop of films to check out in the coming chillier months, so in preparation for that, I'm giving you little glimpses of this fall and winter's must-see movies with my Fall Movie Preview series. Today's roundup is full of drama, drama, drama.

December Boys
I am very excited to watch Daniel Radcliffe in his first major non-Harry Potter movie role. Hopefully I can get through the film without seeing him solely as everyone's beloved boy wizard. In December Boys Radcliffe plays one of several orphans vacationing with a couple who will ultimately choose one of them to adopt. The movie opens in select theaters today, September 14, so go here to watch the trailer.

read more Lions for Lambs From the trailer for Lions for Lambs, it looks like Meryl Streep and Robert Redford are compelling in their roles while Tom Cruise is sniveling and obnoxious. Still, Cruise's presence won't stop me from seeing this tense political drama, directed by Redford himself, in which "injuries sustained by two Army ranger behind enemy lines in Afghanistan set off a sequence of events involving a congressman (Cruise), a journalist (Streep) and a professor (Redford)." Lions for Lambs opens November 2, so check out the trailer on the film's website.
Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married? Tyler Perry stars in his own latest film project which may not be a severely dramatic film but, basically, I didn't know which other Fall Movie Preview category to place it in. Janet Jackson joins Perry in this story that examines marriage in all its glory and complications. As Lionsgate describes the plot, "During a trip to the picturesque snowcapped mountains of Colorado, eight married college friends have gathered for their annual seven-day reunion. But the cozy mood is shattered when the group comes face-to-face with one pair’s infidelity. As secrets are revealed, each couple begins questioning the validity of their own marriage." Start wrestling the hard issues on October 12 when Why Did I Get Married? opens.
Into the Wild Sean Penn directed this project, and adapted the Jon Krakauer book on which this film is based. Into the Wild tells the true story of Christopher McCandless who graduates college, gives away his savings and ventures on his own in pursuit of ultimate truth and freedom. He tells no one where he's going, and his family never hears from him again. The movie tells of the people he meets and the adventures he has before reaching the desolate Alaskan wilderness he so wanted to find. The film opens everywhere September 21, so check out the trailer here.
Feel the Noise Jennifer Lopez produces this drama all about rap and dance in Puerto Rico. As IMDB describes it, "After a run-in with local thugs, aspiring Harlem rapper Rob (Omarion Grandberry) flees to a place and father (Giancarlo Esposito) he never knew, and finds his salvation in Reggaeton, a spicy blend of hip-hop, reggae and Latin beats." Check out the trailer before Feel the Noise hits theaters October 5.

Grey's Anatomy Rundown, "If/Then"

Last year we had the Grey's Anatomy musical episode, and this season it's the alternate-reality episode. That's right: as Meredith ponders on the veracity of the phrase "meant to be," we get to see what could have been - or in this case, what was always destined to be. Though this is a filler episode if I ever saw one, it's still pretty fun to see the characters go down different paths (well, except for Jackson, who pretty much stays the same).

Buying the right pair of running shoes can make or break your running experience. Since your shoes are what make initial contact with the surface you are running on - providing the support, cushioning, and durability you need to help you get through your runs - taking the time to find just the right pair is extremely important. Nowadays, the endless variety of shoe options can leave us overwhelmed, which is why it's necessary to cut out the fluff and get straight down to business. And when I say "fluff," I mean the following five things you shouldn't be concerned with when shopping for running shoes.

Group Therapy: My Ex-Boyfriend Is Still in Love With Me

I need help. I dated my boyfriend for over seven years, and was waiting for him to propose once we were done with school. About a year after I was done with graduate school, I flat out asked him what was going on and if he was ever planning on proposing. He told me that he wasn't sure I would make him happy long term because of certain intimacy issues we had. He also told me he was focused on his career and that he wasn't ready to get married anytime soon, which was problematic because his job made it so that we were long distance for the majority of our relationship. None of this was ever communicated or hinted to me before, and I was devastated and heartbroken. I thought, there was nothing more could I do after seven years to convince him to want to marry me, and so I started to mentally check out of the relationship. It took me about three months to finally end things with him.

In the meantime, I'd become good friends with someone new that I met at work. We'd hang out occasionally, but nothing ever happened between us when I was still with my ex (I swear!). After awhile, he confessed to me that he had feelings for me, after which he and I decided to stop hanging out to be fair to both my ex-boyfriend and him. While that may have expedited the process of me breaking up with my ex, it didn't ultimately make me decide to leave him. I left my ex for the reasons above. I started seeing him after my ex and I broke up. Fast forward to the present, co-worker is my new boyfriend.

My problem is, now my ex is telling me that he didn't mean those things he said, and he said them out of fear of growing up and anxiety over our intimacy problems. He says me leaving him was a wake-up call and that he's changed. He tells me I am the love of his life, and that I am perfect, and why can't I forgive him for his immaturity, and the mistakes he made? He doesn't understand why I won't take him back. I don't have the heart to tell him that I'm seeing someone new. As much as he devastated me, I don't want to devastate him. I feel guilty and maybe that I did something wrong by letting myself get close to my co-worker. And even though nothing happened between co-worker and I, I can see why my ex would think I cheated on him (he knew of co-worker before), which would hurt him even more.

I know he has to find out eventually. I was just hoping I could tell him I'm seeing someone new when he was "over" me. I also feel guilty that because I mentally checked out of my previous relationship, it allowed me to fall for someone else so quickly. My question is, when and how should I tell him about my new boyfriend? Was what I did wrong? I just want to do the right thing, which is what I've always tried to do, but I just don't know what that is anymore.

Bachelor Pad's Michael Stagliano on His DWTS Date, Ideal Girlfriend, and How Bret Michaels Is a Hugger

Bachelor Pad 2 recently ended, and the unlikely winners of The Bachelor spinoff were Michael Stagliano and his ex-fiancé Holly Durst, who announced her engagement to fellow contestant Blake Julian during the finale, shocking her devastated partner Michael.

We got a chance to talk with Michael, who braved both Jillian Harris's Bachelorette season and an extremely emotional Bachelor Pad season and has lived to tell the tale. The true star of the show (in our opinion), Michael has the looks, the moves, the humor, and most importantly, has proved he's a genuinely sweet and caring guy. TrèsSugar: If Holly had to be with any other guy in the house, who would you have chosen for her?

Michael Stagliano: Probably Kirk. I frickin' love Kirk, and I think they would have made a good match. He just knows how to treat a woman. I think he's very kind and patient and gentle with women and is very respectful of their feelings.

TS: If Holly hadn't been there, was there anyone in the house you would have had a crush on?

MS: Probably Michelle, so Graham would have had to not be there, too. She's just so ridiculously beautiful inside and outside. She's just so caring and kind and patient, and I just love her to death.

TS: What does Bret Michaels smell like?

MS: I don't remember a specific smell. He's a great hugger though. In that date, which is an hour, I probably hugged him 7 times. He's so cool and so outgoing and loves hugs, and I love hugs.

TS: Are you single?

MS: I am single. I'm very single.

TS: There are rumors about you and Dancing With the Stars's Chelsie Hightower . . .

MS: As a pseudo date, we are going out to dinner on Thursday. But we're not dating, we've just been texting a lot, and she's just super cool, and sooooo good looking it's hard to breathe around her. But we're not official or anything yet at all. We're just going to hang out, cuz she's cool . . . and I have a giant crush on her.

TS: If you could do it all over again would you get as honest as you were with Holly about your feelings with the cameras rolling?

MS: I really like love, I love love. So falling in love again was great. It ended up turning into some heartache. The three months in between when I broke up with Holly and when the show started I was super closed off to love, and it was awful, and I didn't want to date at all. After the show, and the way it ended, I was ready to date immediately. So if anything, I'm really thankful for the fact that it happened.

Sarah Jessica Parker Loves "an Interesting, Complicated Life"

Sarah Jessica Parker chatted about I Don't Know How She Does It at a recent press day in NYC along with her costar Greg Kinnear. The duo, who play a married couple in the film, have great chemistry, and they joked about how they each do it all - and even suggested a silly drinking game for movie-watchers! The I Don't Know How She Does It reviews aren't the best of either SJP or Greg's careers, but they both brought plenty of enthusiasm to our chat.

PopSugar: The film addresses the idea of having it all. How do you relate to that notion?

Sarah Jessica Parker: You know, this idea of wanting to be all things to all people, I'm very familiar with that desire. And trying to be very much a part of a marriage and a part of a parent-child relationship, and also to be very much invested in work, and what that really means and how is it really possible. I love that I was given the opportunity to tell that story in this movie.

Greg Kinnear: I had to lift a lot of children [in the movie], and suffered a lot of back pain because of that, and I can relate to that . . . Harvey Weinstein will find out in his legal department in the next couple of months. It's the same thing, it's just the story of trying to balance - a lot of balancing in this movie for everybody. You know you pick up on this story of two people having this great thing happen in their life and trying to make everything in-between work, it's not easy.

PS: Do you have a secret to making it all work?

SJP: I don't. I wish I had some kind of really reliable blueprint but I don't. I think the truth of the matter is things change every single day and you sort of have some master plan, but children change and people get sick and schedules change and babysitters can't be there; all the planning in the world doesn't really allow humans to behave as humans and, so no. You do the best you can. I like an interesting, complicated life, I prefer it to almost anything else, so I have no one to blame but myself. Greg, who do you have to blame?

GK: I have no one to blame but Sarah Jessica Parker.

Brad Pitt Talks About "Pretending" During His Marriage and Diving Into Family Life With Angelina Jolie in Parade

Brad Pitt is in Parade's new issue, which is out this weekend, as he gears up for Moneyball's release on Sept. 23. Brad, who also covers EW's latest edition, didn't shy away from tackling big topics during his interview with the magazine. The actor opened up on adopting with Angelina Jolie "right out of the gate" and what she's like as a mother, and he even briefly touched on one of his past relationships. Brad discussed his marriage to Jennifer Aniston and suggested that their relationship impacted his career. Here are some highlights:

On how his marriage to Jennifer Aniston affected his work: "I spent the '90s trying to hide out, trying to duck the full celebrity cacophony . . . It started feeling pathetic. It became very clear to me that I was intent on trying to find a movie about an interesting life, but I wasn't living an interesting life myself. I think that my marriage [to actress Jennifer Aniston] had something to do with it. Trying to pretend the marriage was something that it wasn't."
On he and Angie adopting right away: "When Angie and I first met, we came together quite quickly and we decided we were adopting. Now the rules are that because we are not married, I can't adopt. Angie adopts. We decided we were adopting a daughter. We were going to do it right out of the gate. We were not going to mess around. Angie said, 'No shopping [for kids].' I thought that was astute and beautifully put. It took the pressure off of adoption and brought a magic to it. We had set our parameters-we had room in our family if anyone needed a home. We got the call, and that's our eldest daughter, Zahara."
On why he doesn't read about himself: "I really don't want to know . . . I mean, how many stories have you read that aren't true, stories about me and Angie being married or fighting or splitting up? And when we don't split up, there's a whole new round that we've made up and we're back together again! We'll get married when everyone can. We're not splitting up. And we don't have a seventh child yet . . . I used to go mental over it and try to fight it. But it was a futile battle, so I just gave up on it."
On life with Angelina: "I'm satisfied with making true choices and finding the woman I love, Angie, and building a family that I love so much. A family is a risky venture, because the greater the love, the greater the loss. That's the trade-off. But I'll take it all . . . One of the greatest, smartest things I ever did was give my kids Angie as their mom. She is such a great mom. Oh, man, I'm so happy to have her."
