TV Tonight: The City

OK, I'll admit it: Whitney Port is my favorite Hills girl, by far. I love her eye rolls, her spot-on comments about Lauren's messy love life, and the way she's managed to turn her TV exposure into a bona fide career (instead of just tabloid fame).

So, unsurprisingly, I'm excited for Whitney to get her turn in the spotlight tonight at 10 p.m. when The City premieres on MTV. I'm sure it will have its share of Hills-style fakery and manufactured drama - and yet, there's this tiny part of me that just believes Whitney's better than all of that.

She certainly has the shiny new career to promote, a job working in PR for Diane von Furstenberg. And of course she has a passel of gorgeous frenemies, including socialite Olivia Palermo, who bear a shocking resemblance to the Hills girls back home. (There's even a brunette one among all the blondes - hi, Audrina 2.0!)

I'm trying to keep my expectations low, but I'm also hoping this will be exactly the thing I need to get through the cold winter months. What about you? To check out the trailer, just read more.

TV Tonight: The Hills

It's that time of year again. Another set of eyerolls, meaningful stares, and semi-contrived situations. Another heap of friend breakups, nightclub-hopping, and drama. Another season of The Hills on MTV.

As always, the trailer for the show makes things look pretty darn exciting (even though so often nothing ever really happens); we're promised jail time, Whitney in NYC, and more struggles between Lauren and Audrina. This time around, I've been pretty fascinated with the media reaction to the show: Entertainment Weekly gave Lauren Conrad the cover for a story about how different her life is from what we see on TV; Time said the whole show is staggeringly beautiful; and some other critics have admitted utter bafflement about the show's popularity.

The Hills: Yup, Still Alive for Season Four

Get ready for more eyerolls and almost-certainly-manufactured drama: The Hills - the show oh so many people love to hate and/or hate to love - isn't going away anytime soon. The show has just been picked up for a fourth season (not to be confused with the current "season three, part two") that will start in August.

According to Us Weekly, the new season will have 19 episodes following what Lauren, Whitney, Audrina and the gang do this Summer. Which, I'm guessing, will be approximately the same thing they do the rest of the time. Oops, that was bitter. It's just that . . . well, I've admitted before that The Hills is one of my guilty pleasures, but how long can this show really go on? Nineteen more episodes is a long time to spend feeling guilty!

So, the question. For all you Hills lovers, are you still on board for a season four, or are you starting to feel a little bit over it? And for the Hills haters in the audience, well, feel free to vent your anger in the comments below.

Where Does The Hills Fall on Your Guilt-to-Pleasure Scale?

MTV's sure-it's-fake-but-who-cares "reality" show The Hills starts the second part of its third season tonight, with Whitney and Lauren heading to Paris and all sorts of scandal going down back home in LA (here's a clip). From the comments when I posted the trailer for the season, I know many of you watch the show even though you're kind of embarrassed to admit it. Personally, I have been known to call it "my guiltiest guilty pleasure." Where does it fall on your guilt vs. pleasure index?

First Look: The Hills Season Three, Part Two

OK, so maybe this isn't technically our very first look at the continuation of the third season of The Hills; after all, we got to see Whitney and Lauren in Paris right after what we thought was the season finale in December. But the new, extended trailer MTV has released for the eight additional episodes, which start airing March 24, has so, so much more. Let's see: There's the return of Justin Bobby, the introduction of Heidi's sister, trouble in Speidi-ville, the aftermath of Whitney's Teen Vogue departure, hints of some nastiness to come between Lauren and Audrina - and that's just in a couple of minutes. It's vapid and ridiculous, of course, but that doesn't mean I haven't already reset my Season Pass. To watch the new trailer for yourself, just read more.

The Hills Heads to Paris

So much for that season finale of The Hills. Lauren's big announcement at the after show was that this season of soapy delight will continue for eight more episodes in the Spring, following Lauren and Whitney as they travel to Paris for Teen Vogue. Apparently, we're not rid of Speidi yet, either: Cameras will keep following Spencer and Heidi's rocky relationship for the bonus episodes, too.

I must say, after all the hype for Lauren's big announcement, I was expecting something . . . bigger. But hey, I'll take eight more episodes. I love me some Whitney, and it looks like Lauren is going to get up to no good with a Frenchman. Want to see the trailer? Just read more
