Sugar Editorial Picks

New DVD and music releases are the perk of Tuesdays, and today's album picks are fresh, fun, and guaranteed to liven up your iPod. I've checked out today's new music and have some advice for what's worth the download.
Don't stop partying: I'll resist doing a full-on album review for Weezer's Raditude; it's tempting, because I've always been a fan and have much to say about the band's transformation over the last 15 years.

It was all about Halloween this weekend, and we've got video from Heidi and Seal's star-studded party! Plus, Jessica Simpson has some harsh words for Melrose Place and Robert Pattinson kicks off New Moon mania in Japan and in VF. Check out Leighton singing with Weezer and Kelly Clarkson's Family Guy costume.

What was Gossip Girl Leighton Meester for Halloween? A rock star! The actress, who also moonlights as a singer, was invited to jump onstage Saturday night with Weezer at the Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC and duet with Rivers on the band's new single "(If You're Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To."

I questioned the substance of Weezer's single "(If You're Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To" off their upcoming album Raditude when I heard it a couple months ago, but the video is the kind that actually makes me like the song more.
I'm crediting the video's director, Marc Webb, who helmed (500) Days of Summer, for the retro-hip look. It's set in a '50s-ish town called "Weezerville" with tons of Americana touches, like a barber shop and plenty of era-appropriate costumes.

The next album from Weezer (the band's seventh) is due to release Oct. 27, but today we're getting a taste of it with the single "(If You're Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To."
I'm curious to hear from other longtime Weezer fans because having listened to the track a few times, I'm feeling a little torn.

"Imma do the things that I wanna do. I ain't got a thing to prove to you."
Surely you've seen this video for Weezer's "Pork and Beans" featuring all sorts of viral "stars" like the "Chocolate Rain" guy, the Dramatic Chipmunk and, of course, Miss "Like, Such As" South Carolina.

Tuesdays are big in entertainment-ville: Not only do all the new DVD releases hit Netflix, but new music also pours into stores, including iTunes. So I take a spin through each week's iTunes music releases and pick out some albums and tracks worthy of a download. In addition to the selections below, you can download the best of Radiohead (according to whom, I'm not sure) and a new album from The Virgins.
