Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day, the buzzed-about sequel to the cult fave, hits theaters tomorrow — just in time for All Saints Day. (Such clever marketing.)
I already peeked at the trailer, and it looks like a very cool, stylized follow-up to its predecessor. This time, the storyline follows the MacManus brothers (Sean Patrick Flanery and Norman Reedus) as they return to Boston to seek vengeance on mob members who murdered a priest.

I haven't been wowed by the promos for The Stepfather, but it does have Gossip Girl's Penn Badgley in it, so maybe I can be persuaded to go see it on Friday.
Based on the 1987 original, the film follows Michael (Badgley), a son who returns home from military school to meet his mom's new boyfriend, David (Nip/Tuck's Dylan Walsh). But once a neighbor suggests that his stepfather looks like a suspect on America's Most Wanted, Michael gets suspicious that the guy is not as nice as he seems [cue creepy music].

I had semi-cynical feelings about the remake of Fame when I first heard it was being cast, but flash ahead two years later, and the trailer has me kind of pumped to see it on Friday. The music numbers look flashy, and it's got So You Think You Can Dance alum Kherington Payne, so I fully expect to be toe-tapping in my seat.
But here's the dilemma: I also really loved the original Fame.

Most of you said that you'd rather wait until Halloween for your scary film fix, but if you're one of those people who loves to get spooked, Sorority Row hits theaters tomorrow. The premise: a sorority gets stalked by a serial killer after one of their pranks goes awry. The trailer looks over-the-top to say the least, and it stars Rumer Willis and reality-stars-turned-actresses Audrina Patridge and Jamie Chung.

ABC's Defying Gravity has been described as Grey's Anatomy in space, as eight astronauts from different countries head off on a mission to research unknown parts of the atmosphere while also, presumably, hooking up with each other constantly.
The show stars Ron Livingston and Laura Harris, among others, and it kicks off tonight with a two-hour premiere. The promo made me giggle, but hey, it's Summer — maybe a cheesy space soap opera is just what I need.

This Friday we'll see if Katherine Heigl can add another hit romantic comedy to an impressive resume (that already includes Knocked Up and 27 Dresses) when The Ugly Truth hits theaters. Heigl stars as a TV show producer who squares off against the network's hot new relationship correspondent (Gerard Butler). They squabble over courtship ideals — which of course only puts their obvious chemistry and attraction to each other on display.

From the many Real Housewives to the teenagers of NYC Prep to the high-flying love-seekers of Millionaire Matchmaker, Bravo has built a brand around showcasing the lives of the rich, materialistic, and fabulous. Tonight brings the debut of the latest show in that style: Miami Social, which focuses on the lives of a successful, powerful clique of friends who — we're told — rule South Beach's social scene.
So many of Bravo's recent reality shows have turned into fizzy guilty pleasures — but will Miami Social be another?

This Friday a new teen comedy hits theaters, this time starring Hayden Panettiere and Paul Rust. In I Love You, Beth Cooper, Rust plays Denis, a dorky high school senior who confesses during his graduation speech that he loves his popular classmate, Beth Cooper (Panettiere). Surprisingly, Beth responds by deciding to "show Denis the best night of his life."

The Taking of Pelham 123 is a remake of the 1974 thriller in which "armed men hijack a New York City subway train, holding the passengers hostage in return for a ransom, and turning an ordinary day's work for dispatcher Walter Garber into a face-off with the mastermind behind the crime."
The movie features Denzel Washington and John Travolta in the lead roles, and the trailers for it look a little intense. What do you think?
