Should Idol Replace Paula With Rotating Judges or Just One?

Paula Abdul has tweeted her goodbyes to American Idol, but the show must go on. This morning at the Fox TCA session, execs Peter Rice and Kevin Reilly confirmed that they've already started the process to fill her empty chair, starting with a rotation of female pop stars. Victoria Beckham and Katy Perry are already signed on to help judge the auditions, which start filming this week.

Apparently Fox is hoping to have permanent plans for Paula's seat by the time the show goes live next year. They liked the four-person dynamic, and there's still a chance one single judge will take Paula's place long-term. In the meantime, I'm looking forward to hearing from a different female artist every week. What about you - do you think Idol should continue with rotating guest judges through season nine, or focus on finding one new person to take Paula's spot for good?

Ugly Betty Rundown: Episode 7, "Nice Day for a Posh Wedding"

Last night's Ugly Betty was a bit frustrating for me. I spent most of the episode literally yelling at Betty through my TV (I swear, she totally heard me), but it also had huge awww moments...and the funniest 20 seconds I've seen on TV in a while. The clip of that is after the jump (hint: it involved milkshakes). So Betty herself continues to bug me, but everyone else is great! Here are my thoughts:

There was so not enough Victoria Beckham considering how much she was hyped. That being said, why don't the Beckhams have an energy drink - it seems too fitting. "Beckhammmmm." Also, Posh would so actually wear her maid of honor dress out the night before the wedding if it was chic enough. Ha.
The Christina and her husband plot was sweet, and I'm glad we finally got to meet him. It was pretty heartbreaking, too. He's good Stuart, after all.

Um, I'm sure I don't even need to ask if everyone else agrees, but Marc and Cliff are the best part of the show, right? Love them. Love the suit, loved the "break-up," loved the getting back together. "Beauty is pain, Cliff, and you are hurting me bad." So, did I mention that I really like them together? I hope Cliff is on the show forever.
Oh, Betty. Call me heartless, but I just can't get behind her this season. No matter what her dad did or said, there is no way that season one Betty would ever even consider not going to his nationalization ceremony. Thankfully (and I never thought I would say this) Henry was there to force her into it. I did get a little choked up when they made up. And Justin is hilarious.

So UB kinda glossed over the whole world finding out and barely caring that Amanda is Fey Sommers' daughter, right? Did I miss any drama about that? Or people even batting an eyelash? That confused me a little.
Anyone else still find it a little surreal seeing Vanessa Williams and Rick Fox together on screen? They're still broken up, right?
So, Daniel 100% has the right to be mad at and immediately fire Betty, but she so should have given him the full reason for lying. Methinks they'll make up next episode.
Was I the only one who saw Bradford Meade having a heart attack and thought, "Wow, Caleb Nicol cannot catch a break in the heart department?"
And last but certainly not least, the best thing ever. Amanda taking ahold of her moment to shine and serenading the crowd with Kelis' anthem "Milkshake," complete with organ music. Describing it does not do the magnificence justice, so watch it below. You won't regret it.

So, what did you think? Am I too hard on Betty? Do you think she immediately turned around and ran back to the church? Will Wilhelmina and Bradford ever get married? And are you enjoying Marc/Amanda/Cliff as much as I am? Amanda's milkshake is so better than mine.

Near the end of the last week's very musical Ugly Betty, Wilhelmina Slater was forced to call on a reserve Maid of Honor when her daughter Nico "got bit by her pet monkey and had to be put in quarantine." Or, you know, bailed because her mother is not just a Bridezilla, but a Lifezilla. The backup bridesmaid was none other than Victoria Beckham, who will be guest starring on this week's wedding mania episode. I've always been a fan of Posh's unexpectedly hilarious and warm sense of humor, so I'm sure she'll be a delight on the show. We got a first look at VB on UB a couple of weeks ago, but if you need more convincing, check out a preview after the jump. Bonus fun: It also stars Vera Wang. This episode (and sure-to-be disasterous wedding) is going to be major!

Welcome, Victoria Beckham, to the wonderful world of "Ugly Betty"! I've got an early look at photos from Posh's Nov. 8 appearance on the show, where she'll be playing a bridesmaid in Wilhelmina's wedding to Bradford Meade. Vera Wang is among the other guest stars stopping by for the affair. Everyone looks positively radiant - except for Betty, whose one appearance in the photos suggests that maybe not everything goes off without a hitch.

NBC is streaming full episodes of "Late Night with Conan O'Brien," Broadcasting & Cable reports - but, on the down side, the New York Times reports that NBC won't renew its contract to sell shows through iTunes. (Apple says NBC wanted to charge $4.99 per episode)
According to Variety, Sony is releasing a Bob Dylan concert DVD filled with footage from his Newport Folk Festival performances later this year.

"Ugly Betty" Just Got A Little More Posh

Here's a tidbit of news for all you "Ugly Betty" fans still on the edge of your seats after the dramatic season finale. At last night's ABC TCA Party, Executive Producer Marco Pennette revealed that Victoria Beckham will guest star on the show this season. He wouldn't say much about her role but he did reveal this, "There's a wedding involved with her storyline." Oh, will it be designed by Christina? Make the cover of Mode? Will she play one of Wilhelmina's bridesmaids? Will Betty have to save the day? Probably yes on the last one. Judging from your comments about her TV special, some of you enjoy Victoria's sense of humor. I, for one, feel like she's the perfect level of kitsch for the show and can't wait to see her cameo. What do you think about Posh invading "Ugly Betty"?

TV Tonight: "Victoria Beckham: Coming to America"

Hey, have you heard? The Beckhams are in America! Aside from the possibility of a sudden, overwhelming interest in Major League Soccer, this move also means the debut of NBC's "Victoria Beckham: Coming to America," which premieres tonight at 8 p.m. Eastern. The initial idea was for this to be a six-episode reality show, but it's been downsized to this one-hour special - for the moment, anyway.

I know a lot of you said you'd be watching; have any of you overdosed on Beckham-mania too much to actually tune in? To be honest, I hadn't initially planned to watch, but I have to admit there's something compelling about the idea of seeing someone as, er, posh as Victoria hanging out at the DMV. I wonder how long it took her to decide what to wear in her driver's license photo?
