One of our very first posts on Twilight was last year when the whole gang struck a few poses for Vanity Fair. It was nearly 12 months ago that we had a peek at those photos, but a few of the outtakes are finding a second life on the Internet today - including one in which Robert and Kristen lovingly pose together and kiss. Soon we'll be seeing them together again on the upcoming Harper's Bazaar cover. It's a whole different world now that they're megastars and we spend so much time wondering if Rob and Kristen are truly together, but it's fun to take a look back at the actors as their wild ride was just beginning.

Gossip Kids Take VF With Hollywood's New Kids on the Block

The upcoming August issue of Vanity Fair is devoted to Hollywood's new class of rising stars. It's no surprise that the gorgeous cast of Gossip Girl is front and center, with Blake Lively landing on the cover. Our Upper East Siders also share the spotlight with a few of the new popular kids like Zoe Kravitz, Hunter Parrish, and the Superbad Boys. The article takes a trip down memory lane to VF's group from 2003, citing Shia as its biggest success and prompting us to guess which of these fresh faces will be the A-listers of tomorrow. While we've got a few of our own predictions, in the meantime we can enjoy a sneak peek into the likes and dislikes of the kids who are ruling the Hollywood scene - at least for now.

Angelina Bares Her Soul For Vanity Fair

We already saw Angelina Jolie's Vanity Fair cover starring her cleavage, but now we've got a look inside the issue. Angie plays it up with different wigs, but there's also no shortage of sex appeal from these photos. In the issue, she doesn't seem to hold anything back about her kids, her relationship with Brad, and how she's been affected by her mother's death. Here are highlights:

On her relationship with Brad: “People have made a lot out of it that we’re not. But we both have been married before, and it’s very easy to get married, but it’s not easy to build a family and be parents together. And maybe we’ve done it backwards, but we certainly feel married.”
On naming her daughter Shiloh: “It’s a biblical name, but we didn’t name her for that. It was a name my parents almost named their first child-there was a miscarriage: Shiloh Baptist. Because my father had been shooting in Georgia and that was the most southern name [my parents] could come up with. It’s a name I always liked. I used to go under it in hotels: Shiloh Baptist. I’d gone under it when [Brad] called hotel rooms where I was staying.”
On her mother's passing: "When [my mother] passed, I realized that somebody who lives life with that kind of dedication to their family is the most noble. I was aware of it growing up. I admired her. And I loved her. But in her passing she reminded me what matters. And what’s most fun-to put yourself aside for these other little people you’re raising.”
On religion: “Brad got me this great thing for Christmas. It’s a bookshelf that has a book on every religion. That’s how we plan to raise our kids. Teach them about all religions. They can pick one or be a student of all of them. We’ll celebrate Kwanzaa for our girl. We’ll celebrate moon and water festivals for our boys. We’ll take them to temples in certain countries. Also to church.”

On why she chose to do Wanted: "Because I had just done A Mighty Heart and was scheduled to do Changeling, which is about the kidnapping of a child. And I had lost my mom. And I knew I was in this odd, fuzzy state going from one loss and kidnapping to another loss and kidnapping. Then Wanted came along. It’s about being physical and jumping and running and being violent, and instinctively I knew I needed to do that.”
On teaching Maddox about death: “Mad always knew my mom was sick. So when it happened, I sat him down and I told him how some people believe there’s a heaven where everybody goes and is together again. And they believe it’s very white and beautiful. And some believe-he’d just seen Casper-there are ghosts who are people and they are always around. And some believe it’s a long peaceful sleep. When I told him, and I was crying, ‘Grand-mère died today, we won’t be able to see her anymore, but she’ll always be around,’ he said, ‘Like she’s here now? Like she’s in that chair?’ And I said, ‘Well, I suppose she could be.’ And he accepted it. It’s funny. It’s like we teach kids the things that we want to believe. Then we see that they have such beautiful faith and it helps them go to bed and we’re in the other room not sleeping well.”
On sharing a love of philanthropy with Brad: “This was actually one of the things that brought us together. Though he wasn’t as publicly active, I found him to be very aware of the world, very curious, very compassionate. In his private way, he had been doing a lot. When we met, we realized our common goals were that we both wanted to be involved in the world and see what we could do. We have similar interests but different approaches. He’s more involved in rebuilding New Orleans, environmental issues, green sustainability. I am more refugees. But when it comes to common goals-orphans, orphans’ rights, children-we support each other. It brings us together and makes our relationship work.”
On meeting Brad: “After my last divorce, I said I was absolutely going to marry somebody in another field, an aid worker or something. Then I met Brad, everything I wasn’t looking for, but the best man, the best father I could possibly wish for, you know? I don’t see him as an actor. I see him very much as a dad, as somebody who loves travel and architecture more than being in movies.”

Angelina also gushed about what a gifted architect Brad is, and apparently she's not the only one who thinks so - he's going to show off more of his skills by designing an eco-friendly hotel in Dubai. Madonna Has More Than Four Minutes to Save the World

The cover of Vanity Fair's Green Issue shows Madonna with the whole world in her hands, and inside the issue she continues to show off her strength. The release of her upcoming album proves that she's an international force with no signs of slowing down, even if that includes some bad ideas (see after the jump). In the article she confidently talks about her life - past, present, and future. Here are highlights about Malawi, her album, and how she views the world:

On her decision to help in Malawi: “If you have children, you know you’re responsible for somebody. You realize you are being imitated; your belief systems and priorities have a direct influence on these children, who are like flowers in a garden. So you start to second-guess everything you value, and the suffering of other children becomes much more intolerable.”
On the music industry: “Well, there’s one thing you can’t download and that’s a live performance. And I know how to put on a show, and enjoy performing, and I’ll always have that.”
On making Hard Candy: “I didn’t have any idea what kind of music I wanted to make. I just knew I wanted to collaborate with Pharrell and Justin. I needed to be inspired and thought, well, who’s making records I like? So I went, ‘I like that guy and I like that guy.’ It’s not like we hit it off right away. Writing is very intimate. You have to be vulnerable and it’s hard to do that with strangers. I had ups and downs before everybody got comfortable, but I grew very fond of Pharrell and Justin.”

On her beliefs: “Ultimately everything’s good. Even bad is good, because bad is there to help you resist it. You need to have that resistance to be good, and, let’s face it, the worst things that happen are always the best things that happen. If you look back at your life and say, Well, what did you learn? What happened that changed your life, that made you strong, that made you grow, it’s always things you perceived as bad."
On her high school experience: “I wasn’t a hippie or a stoner, so I ended up being the weirdo. I was interested in classical ballet and music, and the kids were quite mean if you were different. I was one of those people that people were mean to. When that happened, instead of being a doormat, I decided to emphasize my differences. I didn’t shave my legs. I had hair growing under my arms. I refused to wear makeup, or fit the ideal of what a conventionally pretty girl would look like. So of course I was tortured even more, and that further validated my superiority, and helped me to survive and say, ‘I’m getting out of here, and everyone is a heathen in this school-you don’t even know who Mahler is!’"

Love her or hate her, Madonna is a source of inspiration and a cultural icon, perhaps now more than ever. She may have her share of bad ideas (the latest being a remake of Casblanca), but it can't be denied that she's dedicated her life to making the world a better place for all of us.

Glammies Nominees Impress At Photography Show

Glamour was the name of the game at the National Portrait Gallery on Monday evening, when stars young and old from TV, radio and music came out in force for the Burberry and Vanity Fair Portraits Opening Night. It's good to see the ladies making an effort on the fashion front, since this highly anticipated exhibition includes a selection of historic images by such renowned fashion photographers as Annie Leibovitz, Cecil Beaton and Mario Testino.

Emma Watson, who built on her style status in a gold Burberry dress, smiled wide thanks to the news she's nominated in the category of UK TV Actress in Glamour Women Of the Year Awards for her performance in Ballet Shoes. Her fellow Glammies nominee Lily Allen (who's up for Best Solo Artist) also attended the event, creating a full day of fashion having attended the PPQ show earlier in the day. Doing it for the boys, a handsome and tanned Will Young continued to get his fill of fashion-related goodness, having just flown back from New York Fashion Week.

Fab Flash: Stars Dress up in Burberry for Vanity Fair Portraits Private View

This evening was the launch of the highly anticipated Vanity Fair Portraits exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery in London. The exhibition is sponsored by British fashion house, Burberry. Many stars turned up for the event including Johnny Borrell, Tara Palmer-Tomkinson, Twiggy, Emma Watson and supermodel Erin O'Connor, to name a few! Many of them (including Emma and Donna Air) were wearing the latest Spring dresses by Burberry. The exhibition will include a selection of historic images from 1913 – 2008 taken by the World's most famous photographers including. Mario Testino, Annie Leibovitz, and Cecil Beaton. The exhibition opens to the public on Valentines Day.

Hollywood Goes Hitchcock For Vanity Fair

The Vanity Fair annual Hollywood Issue photo shoot is especially cool this year as a whole slew of famous actors posed to recreate classic shots from Alfred Hitchcock movies. Some of my personal favorites include Seth Rogan doing North by Northwest Gwyneth Paltrow and Robert Downey Jr. in To Catch A Thief and the Scarlett Johansson/Javier Bardem duo doing Rear Window. Also, doesn't Renee Zellweger look a lot like Meryl Streep posing in Vertigo? Check out some behind the scenes video of all the shoots, so serious. Which shots are your favorites?

Shia and Harrison's Indiana and The VF Cover

Well what do we have here? It looks like Shia LaBeouf has already scored his second Vanity Fair cover in less than a year's time - pretty impressive if you ask us. The legendary Annie Leibovitz shot the photos of the Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull cast on the set, including Shia, Harrison, and Cate Blanchett. We also get a peek at what went into making the 4th installment of the Indiana Jones chronicles from the sources themselves - George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, and Harrison Ford. Here are highlights:

Harrison on getting back into character: “There’s something about the character that I guess is a good fit for me, because the minute I put the costume on, I recognize the tone that we need, and I feel confident and clear about the character.”
Steven on teaming up with Harrison again: “I mean, we’re both older, and we both look a bit older, I think, certainly, but at the same time Harrison needed to recapture the caustic, laconic spirit of Dr. Jones, and certainly he was going to have to manage the action, and he did both of those things amazingly well, certainly far beyond what I expected.”
George on how the movie will be received: “I know the critics are going to hate it. They already hate it. So there’s nothing we can do about that. They hate the idea that we’re making another one. They’ve already made up their minds.”

George Lucas may have a pessimistic outlook, but we have a feeling that we're not the only ones who can't wait to check out the new film. How could you go wrong with all the fun of an Indiana Jones movie with great new additions to the cast?

Katherine Heigl Tells It Like It Is

Katherine Heigl showed off her modeling skills in the January issue of Vanity Fair. She's got that old Hollywood glamor down pat, but we guess she already had some practice at the Emmys. So what does one of Hollywood's most popular stars have to say for herself? A little on movies, a little on TV, and a lot on Josh. Plus, she's not so happy with some of her characters lately. Here are highlights:

On Knocked Up: "It paints the women as shrews, as humorless and uptight, and it paints the men as lovable, goofy, fun-loving guys. It exaggerated the characters, and I had a hard time with it, on some days. I’m playing such a bitch; why is she being such a killjoy? Why is this how you’re portraying women? Ninety-eight percent of the time it was an amazing experience, but it was hard for me to love the movie.”

On her fiance Josh Kelley: “I’m not really a first-move kind of gal,” she says. “I’m one of those women who always thinks it’s better to play it cool and keep them wanting more, but I really threw myself at him. I broke all the rules.”
On George and Izzie on Grey's Anatomy: “That was kind of a big change for Izzie, wasn’t it, after she was so up on her moral high ground. They really hurt somebody, and they didn’t seem to be taking a lot of responsibility for it. I have a really hard time with that kind of thing. I’m maybe a little too black-and-white about it. I don’t really know Izzie very well right now. She’s changed a lot. I’m trying to figure her out and keep her real.”

While we kind of agree with Katherine (especially about changing up Izzie's character), she sounds a little bit whiny. About Knocked Up, Buzz wants to know how you feel about her statement - do you think Knocked Up is sexist?

Julia Is Hollywood's Most Famous Housewife

Julia Roberts looks stunning all sprawled out in a dream-like photoshoot for the December Issue of Vanity Fair. We got a preview of the cover girl talking about her love for Danny Moder and appreciation for Natalie Portman, but she also dished about the environment, balancing her life between her family and career and who she wants to share the big screen with. Here are more highlights:

On who she'd like to star in a movie with::
"I would like to work with Johnny Depp. I've known him a long time. I think he's so interesting and I think we look alike in a funny way. So Johnny Depp. Johnny Depp and I will play brother and sister in something."
On talking to her kids about her job:
"I don't. I haven't had to. I just say, 'Mommy's going to work,' and they know that my work somehow involves a trailer. But when I played Joanne Herring, we had done some portraits of me, copying pictures of Joanne, to use around her house. So I brought home this picture of me in this emerald-green gown, and I have these big diamonds on and the nails and the whole thing. The picture was sitting on the dining-room table, and Finn and Hazel came to dinner, and Hazel said, 'Oh, look at that picture. Cuckoo Mommy.' I couldn't believe she even knew it was me."

Sounds like Julia's little ones are already smart little cookies just like their mom. As for working with Johnny we hope Hollywood is listening because the two of them together would be box office gold.

Leo and Little Bears on Ice Make Us Melt

Last year George Clooney was the sexy man gracing Vanity Fair's first ever "Green Issue." This year they upped the cuteness factor by placing Leo and the cute cub, Knut on the cover. The idea is to raise awareness of the wonderful things the world has to lose out on with the long term effects of global warming. We all know Leo is a cheerleader for all things to help make the world a more eco-friendly place. The man can do more than just act and look hot. As if we didn't already count down the days to get our VF in the mail, now we have another reason to want to check out this month's issue.

Moore Mandy In Vanity Fair

Mandy graced the cover of VF way back when she was a teenager. She shared the cover with the Olsens, Amanda Bynes and Hilary Duff. This April she didn't land a cover but she certainly scored with a stunning spread! It's a far cry from the casual down-to-earth Mandy we see out and about, but she can totally pull off the glamorous look, too. Plus with her movie career and new album coming out, it's obvious that she's not the kind of girl to let the break-up with DJ AM get in her way. As usual, we can't wait to see what (and who) she gets into next!
