America Ferrera Ties the Knot With Ryan Piers Williams!

America Ferrera married her longtime boyfriend, Ryan Piers Williams, yesterday in New York state! The newlyweds borrowed her Ugly Betty costar Vanessa Williams's home in Chappaqua for the lavish event, which was officiated by their other castmate Judith Light. America's dress from Amsale's Christos line, as well as Fred Leighton jewelry.

The guest list was star-studded with Rebecca Romijn, Jerry O'Connell, and Mark Indelicato in attendance. The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants contingent was well-represented too, with Alexis Bledel, Amber Tamblyn, and Blake Lively on hand. Blake, however, did not bring along her recent love interest, Leonardo DiCaprio. America and Ryan were engaged for just over a year, as she debuted her diamond ring last June at the Edinburgh Film Festival in Scotland. Her most recent acting work was a recurring role on The Good Wife, and hopefully America has enough time off to honeymoon with Ryan before she starts doing voice work for How to Train Your Dragon 2. Congrats to the happy couple.

The ladies went short for the People's Choice Awards in LA tonight. Presenter Malin Akerman chose a white J. Mendel dress and Taylor Swift went with a pretty peach frock by the same designer to accept her award for favorite country artist. Minka Kelly belted her Vivienne Westwood mini while AnnaLynne McCord stood out in a bright blue sheath. Emma Roberts donned a classic LBD, which was the perfect complement to Zac Efron's suit as they posed for pictures together. Plenty of other gorgeous gals came out for the big show, like the Kardashian sisters and a gown-wearing Ashley Tisdale. I remember this album and I remember this video vividly: Vanessa Williams circa 1988, "The Right Stuff." Her face was flawless and right there at that moment I wanted to wear bold lipstick because I knew it was the answer to everything - at the very least it would certainly give me the right stuff, right? My fierce mother would be having none of the lipstick wearing until four years later when I was 16, and even today I remember my first tube of CoverGirl LipSlicks.

It wasn't really lipstick per se; it was actually more of a lipstain/gloss hybrid, but I loved it! I remember being in New York with my family because my dad was running the marathon, and us going into a drugstore to get it. It was a big deal for me. I got the yellow tube, which was a bronzy lip color, and of course the red tube. Never forgetting Ms. Vanessa Williams in all her bright, puckered glory, I slathered it on rather heavily - like 10 coats heavily - trying to achieve that lipstick look. And as tacky as I may have looked (my mom tried to deter me to no avail), I am quite sure it at least lent some shape to the makeup artist/beauty Yoda I am today - just with a lot more style, a steadier hand, and most definitely: "The Right Stuff."
