We may have Valentine's Day on the brain, but February also marks an important time of the year - Black History Month. In honor of Black History Month, let's take a look at some of our favorite geeks, both past and present. Everyone on this list has made vast contributions to furthering tech as we know it.

Dwayne McDuffie - The recently passed McDuffie wrote comic books for both Marvel and DC (including Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight, the Fantastic Four and the Justice League of America) before founding his own company, Milestone Media, which helped pioneer the use of multicultural characters as its heroes.
Mark Dean - Nerd alert! Without Dean, there may not have been a PC - he holds three of IBM's original nine PC patents, leading the teams that developed the ISA bus and the first one-gigahertz chip.
Mae Carol Jemison - It doesn't get much geekier than space travel; Jemison was the first black woman to travel in space.
Philip Emeagwali - We can all blame Emeagwali for our Internet addiction. He developed the fastest supercomputer software in the world. His IQ is too high to be measured by conventional standards, and he's won a Gordon Bell Prize, which is like the Nobel Prize for computer science.

When I think of gypsies I can't help but picture a cloaked fortune teller or dancer like Esmeralda from The Hunchback of Notre Dame. But it turns out much of what we know about this historically persecuted group of people is based on urban legends and outdated artistic interpretations. After watching an episode of My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding, I was intrigued to learn more about the fascinating and mysterious history of the gypsy or, more accurately, "Roma" culture.

Graffiti Artists Adorn Dilapidated Buildings in Bristol, England, as Part of the See No Evil Project

Touted as the largest street art project in the United Kingdom, See No Evil on Nelson Street in Bristol, England, will transform buildings into a riot of color and artwork over the next few days. Several multistory buildings on the street will be covered with art. The project's organizers hope that it will become a major tourist attraction for the city, which is said to be the spiritual home of graffiti artist Banksy.

In all, over 10 dilapidated buildings will be painted and stenciled by graffiti crews from the US, France, the Netherlands, Brazil, and Spain, as well as artists from Bristol itself. Project organizer and graffiti legend Inkie noted in an interview that he chose Nelson Street for a very specific reason. "'If you walked down it before we started, it was the worst concrete '60s urban nightmare," he said. "Decaying and decrepit. Even in a couple of days it’s completely transformed, and people are walking down there that would never have before."

Food, Sleep, and Sex: 3 Things Men Think About More Than Women?

Do men really have sex on the brain every seven seconds? That's the question psychologists from Ohio State set out to answer. They found that, in fact, it's just an urban legend. Men can go much longer than seven seconds before they think about sex. Men do, however, think about it almost twice as much as women.

Comparing college-age men to college-age women, the study found men think about sex 18 times a day on average, while women think about it 10 times. But the researchers found something else: men report thoughts of food and sleep at the same rate as thoughts of sex.

One possible explanation is that men are aware of their physical state. But there's another way to explain it, too. Men might be more comfortable reporting thoughts of sex, sleep, and food. And women who said they care a lot about other people's opinions of them were less likely to report thoughts about food or sex. Our thoughts might not be so different, just what we believe we're allowed to think about.

There goes another staple in award season - the Grammys are a wrap! The night was chock-full of performances from standouts like Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga, but there were a few statuettes passed out between songs.

Muse frontman Matt Bellamy took the opportunity to thank his "beautiful pregnant girlfriend" Kate Hudson while accepting the trophy for best rock album, and Lady Gaga gave props to Whitney Houston in her acceptance speech for best pop album. Lady Antebellum scored big with five golden gramophones, but it was Arcade Fire that won the biggest award of the night, taking home the accolade for album of the year.

A Brief History of Group Sex

The trailer just came out for the upcoming Jason Sudeikis comedy A Good Old-Fashioned Orgy, and it got me thinking about the world of group sex. Even though I can't hear terms like key parties and swinging without thinking of an episode of CSI or Law and Order (what is it with sexual taboos and crime dramas?), it's far from a new idea - after all, even the ancient Greeks were doing it. So if you're curious about what the difference is between bacchanalia and bunga bunga, here's a brief breakdown of the history and types of group sex.

Orgion: An Orgion was a secret means of worship for mystery cults in ancient Greece that may have included group sex.
Bacchanalia: These were crazy, drunken festivals thrown by ancient Greeks to worship the wine god Bacchus (or Dionysus).
Bunga bunga: We have Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi to thank for making these underwater sex parties famous.
Swinging: Swingers are committed couples who have group sex with other committed couples at swinging parties, sex clubs, and even at Swingstock - a Summer camp for swingers. There was a short-lived show about it called Swingtown.
Key parties: This was a popular type of swinging party in the '70s in which the men put their car or house keys in a bowl and the women would randomly grab keys to decide who they would go home with. It's been featured on TV shows like That '70s Show and Life on Mars.
Rainbow parties: These are a 2000s urban legend that made it all the way to The Oprah Winfrey Show. Allegedly, these teen parties require women to wear different colors of lipstick and give oral sex to the guys creating a rainbow on their penises.
