Fox's Live Tweets on Glee: Annoying or Awesome?

Did you miss Fox's pilot preview of new Fall series Glee a few months ago? You can still watch it before the show's real premiere, but there's going to be an extra feature when Fox re-airs the pilot episode this Friday night: according to a press release, cast members will be live-tweeting the episode and the Twitter feed will appear over the lower-third of viewers' TV screens during the broadcast. Another Fox show, Fringe, will also get the "tweet-peat" treatment when the network shows last season's second-to-last episode this Thursday.

What do you think? Is this a TV version of a DVD's commentary track (and thus, cool), or is it just an annoying feature trying to capitalize on the trendiness of Twitter?

Do You Follow Any TV Characters on Twitter?

Celebrities who use Twitter - and who don't - have been a hot topic for a while. But what about characters who tweet?

I first noticed the phenomenon of TV characters twittering (er, actual people twittering as TV characters) when it caused a little ruckus during the last season of Mad Men. AMC initially protested the idea of fans twittering as Don Draper or Roger Sterling but eventually let the twittering continue - and even interviewed the fan who tweets as Peggy Olson after she won a Shorty Award.

In addition to the Mad Men crew, I follow Coach Eric Taylor from Friday Night Lights and Rachel Berry from Glee. I'm not sure who runs those Twitter feeds (my guess is that Rachel's is done by Fox, while Coach's is a fan), but regardless, it's fun to see people try to channel what the characters would say on Twitter - kind of like fan fiction 2.0. What about you?

Is Just Silencing Phones in Theaters Enough?

Last week comedians Aziz Ansari and Paul Scheer conducted an experiment and Twittered their thoughts during a screening of Crank 2: High Voltage. One prominent blogger was not happy when he heard this and used his own Twitter account to voice his outrage, saying, "Movie theaters are places to leave the outside world behind."

Are you cool with people keeping their phones on in the theater to text and/or Twitter? I know some people only care about the disruption of sound, but does the light from cell phones distract you from the show? Do you think people should put their phones away and keep them away?

Buzz-Worthy Video: An Ode to Lost

If you count yourself among the many avid Lost fans in the world, then you know that the show isn't a subject to be taken lightly. There's no talking during episodes, and definitely no asking questions. Sound familiar? Check out this viral video from a bunch of dudes calling themselves "Donkey Wheel" - singing a song simply titled "We Like Lost." It plays off the show as well as Lonely Island's "We Like Sportz," making sure to call out all of our favorite characters and random references. Even Carlton Cuse gave it his stamp of approval via Twitter. It's not a substitute for the real thing, but it might just help ease the pain of waiting a few more months until season six.

It's Official: Steven Tyler Is Out of Aerosmith

Joe Perry has taken to his Twitter account to break the news that Aerosmith is looking for a new lead singer. Steven Tyler has apparently dropped out amid rumors that he's looking for a solo career - which the front man alluded to himself in an interview earlier this year. Perry assured fans that the band is not breaking up tweeting, "You just can't take 40 years of expiriance and throwitinthebin!"

I'm sure I echo most people's sentiments when I say this is a sad day in rock 'n' roll. I feel like the group should call it quits, because I can't imagine anyone replacing Tyler's swagger. Joe Perry has done solo projects before, but when it comes to Aerosmith, he and Tyler have always been a package deal in my mind. Although, perhaps I'm being too pessimistic - after all, Van Halen did go on to have a successful run when Sammy Hagar took over for David Lee Roth.

Do you think Aerosmith can (or should) go on without Tyler? Can you name a worthy substitute?
