When I was an angsty, misunderstood teenager, I wanted few things more than to see Rent on Broadway. It was, after all, a musical for "our generation." I was a sucker for the story, which seemed then like edgy political commentary, and of course I loved the semi-racy, semi-rockin' soundtrack.

Happy 16th birthday, floating Nirvana baby! Otherwise known as Spencer Elden, this boy will forever be known to many as the underwater baby on the cover of Nirvana's album Nevermind.
According to an interview Elden did with NME in 2006, he's a fan of Nirvana, saying "Most bands around today can't even get near to what Nirvana did on that album, and I'll always be happy to be a part of it."

Blackmail, stripteases, girl-girl kissing — oh the drama. The kids of West Beverly return from winter break on 90210 this week, and we're once again dealt a heavy dose of high school salaciousness. Silver and Naomi come back from a tanning spree in St.

This week's episode of Desperate Housewives brings some interesting new developments: notably, Katherine's relationship with Robin progresses, Bree gets an interesting new employee, and the Bolens learn of Danny's whereabouts. As for the other housewives, Susan meddles in Mrs. McCluskey's relationship while Gaby bonds with Bob Lee and Lynette makes a major mommy no-no.

I've been digging the CW's heartfelt midseason hit Life Unexpected, and as of last week's second episode, you guys are too. Tonight we'll be treated to another installment following adopted teen Lux, played by Britt Robertson. I had a chance to chat with Robertson about her character, her hopes for the show's relationships (love triangle ahead), her costars (she's roommates with Shiri Appleby!), and the show's warm reception.

This week, Desperate Housewives finally brought us the follow-up we've all been waiting for: the aftermath of the disastrous Christmas plane crash. By the end of the episode we learn who survived, who didn't, and who's been badly injured, but along the way we also get a peek into the minds of the ladies of Wisteria Lane as they contemplate what might have been.

I've been anxiously anticipating Jason Reitman's third film, Up in the Air, from the moment I first read about the project. With George Clooney on board I was practically giddy, so imagine how excited I was to have the opportunity to talk to the director himself when he stopped in San Francisco during his promotional tour.
The film is one of the many buzz-worthy December movies, and it opens in limited release this Friday.

Both 90210 and Melrose Place felt like they were building up to something big this week. It didn't make for a particularly juicy two-hour block, but I cannot wait to see exactly what happens in the coming episodes as each carefully placed plot point starts to unravel. (You just know Jen's scheming is about to blow up in Naomi's face — and don't even get me started on nut-job Violet!

I like the Coen brothers. I loved No Country For Old Men, I still enjoy quoting Frances McDormand lines from Fargo — I even appreciated their most recent project, Burn After Reading despite lukewarm reviews. So I went into A Serious Man with high expectations.
