Sherlock Holmes 2 Wins No. 1 Spot at Box Office

Sequels dominated the box office this weekend, but it was Robert Downey Jr.'s reprisal of a famous detective that had the most success. Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows came in first at the box office with $40 million, followed by animated sequel Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked, with $23.5 million. New Year's Eve Wins the Box Office

It was an incredibly lackluster showing at the movies this weekend, with New Year's Eve taking the crown, but only pulling a meager $13.7 million in the weakest box office weekend since 2008. It did manage to beat Jonah Hill's new comedy, The Sitter, which followed in second with $10 million. Breaking Dawn Part 1 was finally knocked out of the top spot, and settled for third with $7.9 million. Read more

The Sitter Movie Review

The Sitter may be inspired by Adventures in Babysitting, but it's certainly not an improvement on the 1987 classic. The plot is very similar: a babysitter and three kids set out on a simple mission to get something, and along the way, they get mixed up with a bad guy and have to have it all resolved in time to get the children in bed. But a recycled plot is not the only thing that's unoriginal Read more

The Sitter Trailer Starring Jonah Hill

Jonah Hill introduces the the red-band trailer to his upcoming comedy The Sitter by calling it the "filthiest R-rated babysitting movie ever made." The fact that the preview opens with a woman climaxing leads me to believe Hill isn't exaggerating, and that his adventures in babysitting will make those of Elisabeth Shue back in the '80s look tame by comparison. Whether or not a raunchy take on Read more
