Comedian Sarah Silverman is an acquired taste; her Comedy Central show is rife with the controversial humor that she's long been known for, and surely, so is her new book, The Bedwetter: Stories of Courage, Redemption, and Pee.

Silverman is a polarizing personality, due in large part to her fearlessness in jokes about race, sexuality, and bodily functions - just read how she describes the word vagina. If that's your cup of tea, then you're probably already watching The Sarah Silverman Program, and if you are, you'd better mobilize: it's in danger of being canceled, with a Twitter campaign going on to save it.

TV Tonight: Sarah Silverman and Demetri Martin Are Back

When The Sarah Silverman Program and Important Things With Demetri Martin return tonight on Comedy Central, the network is packaging the two shows back to back for a hilarious Thursday night. This is the third season premiere for Silverman's show and the second for Martin's, which kicks off the night at 10.

It's been more than a year since Silverman's show has been on the air, and since then it has seen both bad news (production-threatening budget cuts) and good (Silverman's Emmy nomination), but I'm happy to see the irreverent show back on the air. As for Martin, as much as I liked his foray into drama, his show's return is a welcome homecoming as well.

TV Tonight: The Sarah Silverman Program

Sarah Silverman is back and ready to do really gross stuff on your TV in the second season of Comedy Central's The Sarah Silverman Program. Clearly, Silverman is an acquired taste (although I think she expanded her reach a bit with the success of her duet with Matt Damon), and the preview clips for this next season reveal she doesn't really care.

For me, watching Sarah Silverman causes a range of reactions: side-splitting laughter, gasping, a lot of looking away and screaming, "ew!," etc. I should warn that the videos after the jump aren't for the faint of heart as there's a lot of political incorrectness and a focus on things like poo. The first part of the premiere begins tonight and the second half will air tomorrow night at the same time. Take a moment to turn down the volume on your computer or don some earphones if you're in an office, and then if you're ready to check out the videos,

The Man Behind the Kimmel vs Silverman Videos Gets a Movie

Someone once told me that to make it in Hollywood, one needs persistence, talent and a lot of luck.

Well, these days, add to that a hit viral video because the director of the "comedy shorts" known to most as the F***king Matt Damon and Ben Affleck videos is getting a shot at directing a feature film.

It never occurred to me that there might be an honest-to-goodness aspiring movie director behind those dueling videos. Turns out there was, and his name is Wayne McClammy (even his name is funny) who has worked as a writer and director on Jimmy Kimmel Live and The Sarah Silverman Program.

The film he's set to direct is called Cool School and is about "ad executives in their early thirties who are sent back to high school to learn how to be cool again." What do you think? Is it wise to trust an entire film to a guy known mostly for short viral videos?

TV Preview: "The Sarah Silverman Program"

I'm firmly on the fence about Sarah Silverman, whose "Sarah Silverman Program" premieres Thursday at 10:30 p.m. on Comedy Central. Sometimes, she cracks me up, and other times her whole "shock everyone with my daring political incorrectness, then stare at them with wide, innocent eyes" schtick just makes me squirm. But I'm still curious to check out this show, in part because it co-stars Jay Johnston and Brian Posehn, whom I came to love back on "Mr. Show."

"The Sarah Silverman Program" is supposed to be TV that makes fun of TV, sending up the American sitcom with a jaunty theme song about poo, random melodramatic musical numbers, and wacky characters like the gay neighbors, the helpful cop, and the super-close sister (played by Silverman's real-life sister, Laura). It's a good idea, but I'm not sure if it will work or fall flat. What do you think? To see a couple of clips,

See All the Stars at the Tribeca Film Festival!

The Tribeca Film Festival brought out some big names this weekend, starting with Kristen Wiig on Saturday when she celebrated Revenge for Jolly. On Sunday Michelle Williams joined Sarah Silverman and friends at an event for the festival. Michelle also stepped out for boyfriend Jason Segel's Five Year Engagement premiere which kicked off Tribeca, though she was careful not to be photographed at the event. James Franco celebrated his own latest project Francophrenia while Olivia Wilde tended to the Help Wanted shorts program. Among the other celebrity attendees, Abbie Cornish was at The Girl screening.
