The Results Are In: Recast The Nanny

Every other Wednesday on BuzzSugar, I post a Recast challenge, where I ask you to choose new actors for a classic TV show or movie. The reader who submits the best cast wins a BuzzSugar t-shirt!

There were plenty of great suggestions for this first recast challenge of 2008! I especially loved the ideas for new actresses to play Fran Fine. My favorites include ChrissyBaby's idea of Ana Ortiz, and kersalli's suggestion of Sandra Bullock.

I also enjoyed the suggestions for the part of Niles, from foudini's idea of Steve Carell, to Hugh Laurie, as WhiplashGirlchild and supertramp suggested.

However, my favorite list this week comes from megan921! To see who megan921 chose, along with a new cast photo,

megan921's cast:
Fran Fine - Adrianne Curry
Maxwell Sheffield - Dougray Scott
Maggie Sheffield - Kay Panabaker
Brighton Sheffield - Angus T. Jones
Grace Sheffield - Emerson Tenney (Teri Hatcher's daughter)
Niles - Ricky Gervais
C. C. Babcock - Amy Adams

If you could recast the '90s sitcom The Nanny with new actors, who would you choose?

Not a lot of new movies in theaters right now, but if you're looking for a good scare, The Orphanage looks insanely creepy. GiggleSugar confirmed in her review that it is, indeed, a terrifying ghost story.

Recast The Nanny and Win a Prize!

Every other Wednesday on BuzzSugar, I post a Recast challenge, where I ask you to choose new actors for a classic TV show or movie. The reader who submits the best cast wins a BuzzSugar t-shirt!

As the show's official website points out, The Nanny was a matter of "blue collar meets blue blood," with the Queens-bred Franny Fine (Fran Drescher) bringing some of her straightforward, nasally attitude to one lucky Upper East Side family. One might say it's like Gossip Girl meets Ugly Betty - but with Fran Drescher.

If you could recast this '90s sitcom, who could you put in Franny Fine's role? Then there's the wealthy family she joins up with: Maxwell Sheffield and his three kids, Maggie, Brighton, and Grace. Niles the butler played a big enough role to include, as did Maxwell's business partner, C.C. Babcock.

Leave your entry in the comment section below, and I'll pick one winner to feature Tuesday, Jan. 8, complete with a "new" cast photo. And thanks to reader ChrissyBaby for this recast suggestion!

To see a list of characters to recast and a photo of the BuzzSugar t-shirt,

Characters to recast:
Fran Fine (Fran Drescher)
Maxwell Sheffield (Charles Shaughnessy)
Maggie Sheffield (the oldest daughter, played by Nicholle Tom)
Brighton Sheffield (the son, played by Benjamin Salisbury)
Grace Sheffield (the youngest daughter, played by Madeline Zima)
Niles (Daniel Davis)
C. C. Babcock (Lauren Lane)

Be on the Lookout For Baby Goods Vending Machines This Summer

Who's ever opened a new pack of diapers, headed out for the day, and suddenly realized that just-opened pack of nappies is still sitting on the changing table, while your diaper bag sits devoid of the things? Whether it's a missing diaper, dried out wipes, or delinquent sippy cup, rushing mamas have a tendency to run out the door with a half-packed bag lacking a few of their daily necessities. That's where the Nanny Caddy comes in. The tot-centric vending machines are filled with everything a diaper-changing mama may need – and more (including three sizes of diapers, Tylenol, toilet seat covers, hand sanitizer, and bandages). Currently located at several children's museums around the country, as well as a few zoos and amusement parks, the machines can save parents from abruptly ending a family outing when a diaper blowout occurs.

Have you seen, or tried, a baby-item vending machine yet?

Mommy Dearest: My Nanny's Breath Stinks!

Mommy Dearest -

We love our nanny - she takes amazing care of my son every day. But all of a sudden, her breath is so bad, that I honestly can't be around her and I actually think it's really gross that my son is around it all day. How do I address this with her?

Any money she makes, she sends to her kids back home, so I doubt that she wants to pay for a dentist, but it's so gross that I am at the point where I have to position myself away from her and I feel really badly for my son.

If I make her a dentist appointment, then do I need to pay for it?

- Sweet-Talking Mama

Mommy's Lil Helpers: Where Celebrity Moms Turn For Childcare Help

Like many mamas, some of the biggest stars resist the urge to hire live-in help and turn to family and friends when needed. Others go the hired-help route - bringing in nannies and caretakers that often become part of the family. See where the celeb moms turn when they need help raising their kids!

A full-time nanny is an essential, treasured member of the family. She functions as mama's surrogate, tending to scraped knees and celebrating successes at school, so her gift will reflect her valued place within the family. Money may be standard holiday operating procedure for many families (one to two weeks of salary seems to be standard), but others try to bestow a gift on their caretaker. Keep reading for a selection of holiday goodies that will warm your nanny's heart.

Mommy Dearest: Do I Have to Play With Friend's Nanny?

Mommy Dearest –

I'm a SAHM, but plenty of my daughter's friends' have two working parents, which means that they are cared for by nannies and babysitters. Now that my daughter is in preschool, she is asking to play with specific friends, rather than the ones I set her up with, and that often means that it is the nanny and me hanging out while the girls play. While the nannies are certainly nice enough, I find us both to be uncomfortable with the situation. Should I just not schedule play dates with these kids, or is there another solution you might suggest to avoid the awkwardness of the situation.

– Playdate Problem Mommy

Do You Allow Your Kids to Play at Unknown Homes?

As a working mom, I rely heavily on my children's nanny to arrange playdates with my lil ones' friends in and around the neighborhood. I frequently return home at the end of the day only to learn that my kids (and nanny) spent the afternoon at a classmate's home or that we hosted a slew of tots for an after school play session.

Sometimes, when I receive the daily report, my son informs me that they played at the home of a child I don't know. In most cases, the caretakers know each other from home, the playground, or mutual friends, and make the arrangements to introduce the kids. Having worked for us for almost five years, I trust my nanny's judgment and know she wouldn't take my kids to an unsafe environment, but it is a bit odd to know that my kids are visiting a place I've never been.

When I mentioned the unusual situation to a fellow working mom, she told me that she never allows her kids to play at homes where she doesn't know the parents. In those situations, she requires the new friends to come to her. Every parent has their own set of rules, but would you allow your kids to play in unfamiliar homes?

Thankfully, her new film The Raven means lots of red-carpet appearances from the gorgeous Brit, who's affinity for feminine dresses, curve-conscious fits, and designers like Prada and Miu Miu drew us in. We love most that she pulls off the sexy angle just as easily as she works her sweet side - she's both a total bombshell and the totally approachable girl next door. See how she does it with a look at 25 of Alice Eve's best yet.
