See the First Pictures From The Host

When the Twilight films have all been released, there will still be Stephenie Meyer's touch in the theater, because her sci-fi novel The Host is being adapted for the screen. The movie doesn't come out until 2013, but we did get to see an ominous teaser for it recently. Even though there wasn't much to see of the film, you can see the actors in character in this crop of the first photos. Check out Saoirse Ronan in the starring role as Melanie, who's possessed by the alien Wanderer, along with Max Irons as her love interest and Diane Kruger as another alien, The Seeker.

The Host Teaser: I Guess Aliens Have Really Pretty Eyes

The Twilight Saga may be winding down this year, but The Host is another Stephenie Meyer adaptation to look forward to. Unfortunately, the first teaser for the film - which stars Saoirse Ronan as a woman who fights against an alien that tries to take over her body - is pretty underwhelming. There's no real footage from the film, just some threats that the world as we know it is about to be taken over (and apparently, you can see it in our eyes). The trailer loses more points since we don't get to see Ronan's cute costar Max Irons at all. At least there's still a full trailer to look forward to.

Saoirse Ronan Will Become Stephenie Meyer's Host

Author Stephenie Meyer is stepping outside of the Twilight realm and taking another novel to the big screen. Saoirse Ronan will star in The Host, a science-fiction story about a girl who's fighting for control of her body after being possessed by a "soul." The souls are an alien race that has come to Earth to usurp the bodies of humans. Ronan will have the challenge of portraying Melanie, the human host, and Wanderer, the soul who has invaded her.

If anyone can tackle a character with warring sides, it's Ronan, who's played complex characters in Hanna and Atonement. If you've read The Host, let me know how you think Ronan measures up.
