Rooting for the same team creates an immediate sense of family, says Daniel Wann, PhD, a Murray State University professor who has been studying the psychology of sports fans for over 20 years. “If you identify with a local team, you build an instant connection to others around you,” he says.

Rachel McAdams and Michael Sheen hugged and kissed as they left a lunch in LA Saturday. Afterward, Rachel hopped into her car and went to shop at Dior. Yesterday brought the couple another sweet brunch date. They went to Little Dom's, later emerging hand in hand to go browse around a comic book shop. Rachel had a big week in LA gearing up for the Friday release of The Vow. Her leading man, Channing Tatum, was in NYC over the last few days to host SNL. Rachel, meanwhile, stuck around on the West Coast and attended the premiere of Journey 2: Mysterious Island. Rachel was solo on that red carpet, but we're hoping she steps out with Michael later this month at the Oscars. Their movie, Midnight in Paris, is up for best picture.

The host of the Emmy-winning Top Chef, writer, and designer started Padma Lakshmi, a social networking site that celebrates our favorite topics, including food adventures, recipes, and party planning. She'll be dishing up goodies for us here on YumSugar monthly. Today, Padma sings the virtues of a lesser-known condiment: homemade chili honey butter.

Chili . . . honey . . . butter. Need I say more? It's actually dangerous to keep this condiment around because you will find yourself buttering your toast with it, frying up eggs with a bit of it melted in the pan, not to mention making home fries, too. And that's just breakfast. It can be used to sauté green beans and carrots, to brush on grilled fish, even to baste a whole chicken for roasting.

After seeing the success of a personal experiment offering a free Stanford University-certified artificial intelligence course (23,000 people completed the class!), Sebastian Thrun left his prestigious professor position to dedicate himself to teaching on a much larger scale. His new program, Udacity will offer free university-level computer science classes to anyone interested in advancing their tech knowledge.

The two courses currently up for the taking are "CS 101: Building a Search Engine" and "CS 373: Programming a Robotic Car." But that's just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to free online classes.
