ABC Picks Up Five Shows for Midseason

The Fall TV season hasn't even started yet, and already, at least one network is looking a few months ahead. ABC, which only has one new scripted show (Life on Mars) on its Fall schedule, has picked up three dramas and two comedies for midseason.

Among them: Rob Thomas's Cupid, his remake of his own 1998 show, which now stars Sarah Paulson and Bobby Cannavale (at right). I've been curious about that project for a while now, so I'm glad it's taken the next step toward becoming a series.

The other dramas:

Castle - Starring Nathan Fillion, the show focuses on a horror novelist who helps the NYPD solve crimes.
The Unusuals - Starring Amber Tamblyn, this one's described as an "ensemble dramedy" set in a police precinct.

ABC's midseason comedies are:

Better Off Ted - Jay Harrington stars as a moral man trying to do the right thing in this office-set show.
Single with Parents - This comedy from How I Met Your Mother producer Kristin Newman stars Alyssa Milano as a woman juggling a dysfunctional family.

ABC Entertainment President Steve McPherson hinted to the Hollywood Reporter that some of ABC's other pilots might be getting the go-ahead later on. The network still has Captain Cook's Extraordinary Atlas starring Janel Moloney and Rob Thomas's other pilot, Good Behavior, as well as the Alicia Silverstone/Alia Shawkat comedy Bad Mother's Handbook, as possibilities.

Kate Middleton Dresses Up For Drinks and Lunch With William and Harry

Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, was the lucky lady hanging out with both her husband, Prince William, and his little brother, Prince Harry, today! The trio attended a reception in London's Waterloo Chamber ahead of a lunch for visiting monarchs at Windsor Castle. Kate Middleton wore a dress from Emilia Wickstead, a pale pink coat-style frock that costs nearly $2,000.

At the meal, Harry, William, Kate, and Queen Elizabeth mingled with kings, queens, and heads of state from 26 countries. William and Harry's cousins, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, were also on hand to chat with dignitaries like Monaco's Prince Albert and Princess Charlene and Jordan's King Abdullah and Queen Rania. There may be protests in England this evening, though, as some aren't thrilled the royals included the King of Bahrain, who's accused of committing human rights abuses during a recent period of unrest in his country. British fare was served to Kate, William, their family, and guests, starting with a poached egg tartlet and then a main of Windsor lamb. This evening, William's father Prince Charles is hosting a dinner reception with his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.

Kristen and Charlize Mix Things Up in Madrid

Kristen Stewart and Charlize Theron continued their nonstop string of press events for Snow White and the Huntsman with an appearance in Madrid today. The two gorgeous actresses swapped color palettes from their Berlin photocall, where Kristen wore a skintight red 10 Crosby dress and Charlize was the one in black. This morning, Kristen's mini number had leather embellishments which helped show off her legs. Kristen is really packing in the events ahead of her stop at the Cannes Film Festival to debut her other upcoming release, On the Road, next week.

Revenge and Happy Endings Get Shuffled Around in ABC's New Fall Schedule

ABC has announced its brand spankin' new Fall schedule, and there are a few big things to take note of. Obviously the network's new series are built in, but a few returning series have new spots in the lineup, like Revenge, which is shifting to Desperate Housewives' vacated Sunday night slot. Happy Endings and Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23 are moving to Tuesdays, giving a new comedy the Modern Family lead-in on Wednesday nights. They were seen leaving the spot late in the evening. Kristen wore a see-through Marchesa to the screening, but changed into her trademark t-shirt, jeans, and leather jacket for the partying. Robert and Kristen are back in London following a weekend away. Robert and Kristen were in West Sussex for a few days, since she was busy doing press at Arundel Castle nearby. It also gave the couple a chance to have a romantic getaway in honor of Robert's 26th birthday Sunday.

Robert Pattinson celebrated his 26th birthday at Claridge's hotel in London last night. He played host to friends like Hugh Jackman and a pregnant Sienna Miller. It was back to the city for Robert after he spent the weekend with Kristen Stewart in the English countryside, where she was busy with press duties for Snow White and the Huntsman. The duo stayed together at the Bailiffscourt Hotel in West Sussex, England, a spot just 15 minutes from Kristen's work duties at Arundel Castle. The last week has been extrabusy for Kristen. She jetted to Paris for a round of interviews on behalf of her new movie, which is out on June 1, before moving on to the UK.

ABC Renews Revenge, Once Upon a Time, Modern Family, and More

With season finales rolling on, we may be wondering about the fate of certain characters, but now we at least know the fate of some of the shows. In the case of most of ABC's slate, there's good news: ABC is renewing freshman series Once Upon a Time, Revenge, and Suburgatory, as well as veteran series Modern Family, The Middle, Grey's Anatomy, and Castle. ABC's reality shows Dancing With the Stars, The Bachelor, and Shark Tank also got picked up for additional seasons. There's no news yet on the fate of Happy Endings or Private Practice, but let's just say we have our fingers crossed. UPDATE: Happy Endings has also been renewed for a third season!
