Movie Preview: The A-Team

The first trailer for The A-Team has leaked online, and while it's a grainy one, I'm glad to finally have a peek at the finished project. Like the TV series, the film follows a group of four war vets framed for crimes they didn't commit, as they seek to right the false accusations. Bradley Cooper, Jessica Biel, and Liam Neeson head the cast, and even though Mr. T does not appear, the film cast a doppelganger in former UFC champion Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, complete with the shaved mohawk.

With the exception of a shirtless Cooper, the preview isn't grabbing my interest as much as I had hoped, and even the action sequences seem a bit lackluster. (Side note: anyone else wondering why Cooper is dressed like a GQ model in the promo photo? I watched the show a little as a kid, but I don't remember any character wearing a designer suit.) Plus, no offense to Rampage, but Mr. T's shoes are mighty big to fill, and watching some of these shots where the film tries to fool you into thinking it is Mr. T seem like a cheap trick. I know it's hard to judge a movie though from such a quick preview, so I'll try to keep an open mind when it comes to theaters on June 11. Take a look and tell me what you think when you

Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper in Talks For the A-Team Movie

We may be looking at the new Face and Hannibal of the upcoming A-Team movie, folks. Bradley Cooper is in talks to join the project as Lt. Templeton "Faceman" Peck while Liam Neeson is reportedly in negotiations to star as Col. John "Hannibal" Smith. The filmmakers "have kept the series premise - four war vets wrongly convicted of armed robbery escape from a military prison to become do-gooder mercenaries - but they've replaced the campy nature of the series with a tone closer to those of Mission: Impossible and Ocean's Eleven."

After seeing Cooper's most recent performance in The Hangover, I'm finding it a little hilarious to picture him starring alongside Liam Neeson, so if nothing else this should be interesting. The movie already has a big budget, big-name producers (Ridley and Tony Scott) and a release date of June 11, 2010. Here's what it doesn't have: Actors for "the roles of the Capt. 'Howling Mad' Murdock, played by Dwight Schultz in the original, and Sgt. 'B.A.' Baracus, the role that made Mr. T an '80s icon." Any suggestions?

The Hangover Boys Monkey Around For EW

We're just a couple weeks away from The Hangover Part II, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2009 comedy that made Ed Helms, Bradley Cooper, and Zach Galifiankis household names. There's a lot riding on the second part of their story, and the guys sat down with Entertainment Weekly with director Todd Phillipps to talk about the perils of shooting in Thailand and why they'll always keep coming back for more Hangovers.

Galifianakis on the script: "I remember thumbing through it, going, 'Oh God. Oh God.'"
Cooper on filming in Bangkok: "It was the hardest shoot I’ve ever done for sure. Nothing ever even came close to it. I thought A-Team was brutal: I got injured and it was f*cking ing six months of . . . not even close! One criticism you could never make about this movie is that we just phoned it in. Even if it fails miserably, it’s not for lack of trying."
On making the sequel out of love for each other:
BC: "There’s no other reason. If anything, why would you do it? There’s more downside than upside."
Phillips: "You can’t beat what you’ve done. You can only lose in this position. But we just love hanging out with each other."
Helms: [Laughs] "We’re going to be ramming Hangovers down America’s throat for the next three decades."

Vanessa Hudgens and Abbie Cornish Talk Sucker Punch, Girl Power, and Kicking Bradley Cooper's Butt

Sucker Punch costars Vanessa Hudgens and Abbie Cornish each donned leather to pose for the April issue of Nylon. The movie's cast, which also includes Jena Malone, Jamie Chung, and Emily Browning, did their share of toughening up for their roles in the upcoming fantasy film, with Vanessa even learning to use a tomahawk! The leading ladies talked to the magazine about their fight skills, first impressions of each other, and what gets their adrenaline pumping. Here are some highlights:

Vanessa on her first reaction to the film: "My adrenaline was kicking, my energy, my spirits were so high that I literally felt like I had just walked out of a rock concert. . . When I saw it, I was literally like, 'Woo, yes! I can do anything! Yay! Go women!' Like, I feel so empowered."
Abbie on her Limitless costar Bradley Cooper's take on the film: "One night I was having dinner with Bradley Cooper and he was like, 'If [the cast of the A-Team] had played paintball with [the cast of Sucker Punch] you would have kicked our butts.' It's like, 'Yeah, we know.'"
Vanessa on being impressed with her costars: "I remember walking in the very first day, and Jena [Malone] is stretching her back from side to side, and I remember looking at her like, 'Damn! Look at the back on that chica!' She was so cut! I was blown away by her back muscles. I was like, 'Okay, I'm a little bit intimidated, I must admit.'"

Jessica Biel Can't Get Enough of the Mountains

In the February issue of Vogue, cover girl Jessica Biel packs up her Subaru and heads to Whistler for a two-day interview on the slopes: "This is very much a me moment: in the snow, in the Subaru, listening to music. I feel really at peace in this environment." And though she mainly talks about her upcoming movies - A-Team and Valentine's Day - we do get a glimpse of why she's your fittest female celeb of 2009.

For her role in the A-Team, Jessica needs to be able to handle about 40 lbs. of heavy artillery while also being able to rack and reload. While training to do this, the actress gave herself quite the challenge: for every mistake she makes, she'll owe her trainer a push-up.

After Biel squeezed off several deafening rounds, Paul calculated the number of mistakes she made and then said, "Twenty-four!" She dropped to the floor and gave him two dozen push-ups. It was only then that I noticed that she is as thin as a teenage boy and all muscle.
