It's Lost Day! There might have been a groundhog or something today too, but as far as I'm concerned, Lost is the most important thing happening today (well, this too). To celebrate the season premiere of the final season, I'm thinking about the show and its myriad mysteries.

American Idol is pretty buzzy right now with the news that Simon Cowell is leaving after this season, so when I spotted Kara DioGuardi at the Grammys Style Lounge today, I decided to get a shortlist of possible contenders straight from a judge's mouth. I've got to warn you, two of her picks are pretty surprising, but I like 'em!
I also asked her about her favorite guest judge so far this season (hint: she doesn't name Katy Perry), and to use her expertise to guess who's taking home a Grammy trophy at the big show.

Finally, all the drama is over. Conan O'Brien has signed a deal with NBC for more than $40 million to walk away from The Tonight Show. O'Brien's manager, Gavin Polone, was the one to confirm the news today, saying that Conan solved the last sticking point of his employees' severance himself:
In the end, Conan was appreciative of the steps NBC made to take care of his staff and crew and decided to supplement the severance they were getting out of his own pocket.

Oprah is hosting a special Haiti relief episode on her show today, and she's enlisted Rihanna's help. The singer will be performing a cover of Bob Marley's "Redemption Song," which seems like the perfect choice given the tragic Haiti aftermath.
The track is already available for a listen, and Rihanna's voice lends itself well to the cover — it's smooth and pretty but also has a strength behind it.

Now, isn't this special? Maybe I'm just a Dana Carvey nerd at heart, but I'm feeling a little giddy over today's news that he's working on a sketch comedy show for Fox. Carvey is developing the series with Spike Feresten, the former Seinfeld writer whom he also partnered with on the failed The Dana Carvey Show.

I already gave you a peek at today's DVD offerings; now, let's take a look at some new music to liven up your iPod. Alicia Keys's new album made it on my list of December must haves, so I'm pumped for its release, but I found a couple of others that are worth checking out, too.
Don't forget that if you want to plead your case about a new album, you can head over to the Music Review Group.
