Tuesdays are big in entertainmentville: Not only do all the new DVD releases hit Netflix, but new music also pours into stores, including iTunes. So I take a spin through each week's iTunes music releases and pick out some albums and tracks worthy of a download. Here are today's selections:
Glamorous: This new album from Las Vegas's own glam rock band The Killers goes full speed ahead on the dramatic.

I'm not a huge fan of The Killers, but I do find their music ideal for running and working out. I also appreciate that the band is continuing the holiday tradition it started last year, offering us another Christmas-themed single.
Last year, it was a melodramatic but driving anthem called "A Great Big Sled", and this December the band is getting a bit sillier with "Don't Shoot Me, Santa."

The Shockwave Awards, chosen by readers of the excellent British music mag NME, are like a cross between the Grammys and the MTV Movie Awards. There are all of the usual categories, like Best New Band and Best Album, plus some completely wacky ones, including Worst Band and Worst Dressed, which makes them more fun than our stodgy Grammys.
More than anything, of course, the Shockwaves are a place to see and be seen.

Aside from that whole Spice Girls thing, I continue to be impressed by the Brits' impeccable taste in pop music. I mean, can you imagine the The Artic Monkeys winning a Grammy? That's why I love the Brit Awards, the British equivalent of the Grammys, which were announced last night.

When I first saw that The Killers had recorded a Christmas song, I couldn't imagine what such a thing would sound like. But after listening to "A Great Big Sled," the concept makes total sense. (Listen to the track here and you'll see what I mean.) Just take the Killers' signature galloping guitars and angsty vocals, add a few jingle bells and some melodramatic holiday-themed lyrics, and you've got yourself a kick-ass Christmas anthem that also happens to be a good Killers song.

The freight train that is Matt Damon's career is still chugging away at full steam: while he's off filming The Adjustment Bureau, the actor is in talks for yet another upcoming project. Ethan and Joel Coen want Damon, along with Josh Brolin, to star in their upcoming remake of True Grit.
Jeff Bridges is already on board to play US marshal Rooster Cogburn, and Damon would play a lawyer who joins Cogburn and a 14-year-old girl to track down the killer of the girl's father.
