Ben Stiller's Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian blew Terminator Salvation out of the water over Memorial Day weekend, earning an estimated $70 million.
However, despite coming in second place, McG's effort to revive the popular sci-fi franchise is still a success, earning a solid $53.8 million. That's impressive considering Terminator's less-than-glowing reviews, as well as competition in the action-adventure genre from Star Trek, which came in third place.

On the one hand, it's Christian Bale and it's a gritty, action-packed Terminator story. On the other hand, for some reason I'm not all that intrigued about the movie after watching this. What do you think of the trailer for Terminator Salvation?

Well, OK, we already had one reason: Christian Bale. But now that Common's joining the cast of the fourth Terminator installment, Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins, it's pretty much guaranteed I'll check out this movie.
According to Variety, "Story centers on John Connor (Bale), now in his 30s, who leads what is left of the human race in a battle against the machines.

Sigh. I can rant all I want, it looks like sequels are still where it's at these days. There was the recent rumor about a possible Austin Powers 4, then there was news of a Wall Street 2, and now the sequel party rages on:
- The Terminator series will continue with Terminator 4 for which they have a script but no director in place.

Though I was all prepared to check out the teaser trailer for the fourth Terminator movie later tonight (it was supposed to come online around 9:00 p.m. EST), it appears that the video is available online right now. And it's pretty spooky.

I've never been much of a Terminator person, so I was a little surprised when I first heard about Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, the Fox series that picks up the Terminator story at the end of Terminator 2. The show focuses on Sarah Connor — played by Linda Hamilton in the movie and Lena Headey in the TV series — as she tries to keep her son (Thomas Dekker) safe from the ever-shifting army of cyborgs bent on taking his life.
Fox clearly has high hopes for the series, pairing it with 24 in January and promoting it with the Terminator name (it was originally just called The Sarah Connor Chronicles; Terminator was added later).

I remember being awed by James Cameron's Terminator 2: Judgment Day when I first saw it in theaters. I was young, but I knew even then that this was the kind of blockbuster that only comes around once in a while. It had heart-stopping action sequences, and parts were genuinely terrifying.

It's less than two weeks till Fox's Friday sci-fi lineup kicks off with a double feature of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles and Joss Whedon's highly anticipated Dollhouse. To mark the occasion, Fox has a new trailer for this weekly double feature, a gritty little video inspired by Grindhouse.
The purposefully grainy promo shows Terminator's Cameron (Summer Glau) and Dollhouse's Echo (Eliza Dushku) — Friday night's "Dames of Deception" — kicking ass, shooting guns, and generally wreaking havoc.
