John Carter Trailer: Tim Riggins Is an Interplanetary Warrior

Friday Night Lights fans who have been missing the cast will be happy to see Taylor Kitsch starring in John Carter (formerly known as John Carter of Mars), an epic sci-fi adventure. Kitsch stars as the title character, a human Civil War veteran who gets transported to Mars, where the nations are warring against each other. He's initially a prisoner, but after impressing the alien locals with his considerable strength and talent for fighting fearsome creatures, Carter gets recruited to help fight on the side of the Martian nation of Barsoom, which happens to be headed up by Princess Dejah Thoris, (Lynn Collins), a scantily clad love interest.

Kitsch looks great with his bulging biceps adorned by very little battle attire, but the preview only manages to make the movie look like a knockoff of other films in the genre. From the plot to the appearance of the alien people and giant monsters, there's very little that seems original about John Carter (and come on, there's no way you can cover yourself in blue paint and not force a reference to Braveheart). Still, I'm happy to see Kitsch in the starring role of anything, and Led Zeppelin's "Kashmir" playing over the trailer does make it feel a bit more exciting. Beach Boys Taylor Kitsch and Aaron Johnson Join Best-Dressed Blake Lively on Set

Oliver Stone took his Savages to the beach yesterday along with the movie's stars Blake Lively, Taylor Kitsch, Benicio Del Toro, and Aaron Johnson. Salma Hayek is back on the West Coast after premiering her latest film, Americano, in Toronto over the weekend, but she skipped out on the day of shooting. Blake was back in her bikini top and bohemian skirt for her scenes, while her good-looking costars Taylor and Aaron rocked board shorts. The story revolves around a love triangle between Blake, Taylor, and Aaron's characters, but in real life she's still going strong with Leonardo DiCaprio. Leo's well aware that his girlfriend is a fashion lover, and her sartorial expertise recently earned her a special honor - Blake made People's Best Dressed list along with Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, and Jessica Alba.

Battleship Trailer: Alexander Skarsgard and Taylor Kitsch Try to Sink Aliens

Battleship, the latest from director Peter Berg, may be based on the board game of the same name, but you'd never know that from this trailer. The film stars Taylor Kitsch as a young naval officer trying to win the approval of his hot girlfriend (Brooklyn Decker)'s father (Liam Neeson). To do so, he boards a battleship - and gets a lot more than he bargained for when there's an alien attack.

Alexander Skarsgard also stars as Kitsch's onscreen brother and fellow naval officer, and apparently Rihanna is in the movie as well, though we only see her for a split second. Ryan Phillippe Teams Up With Malin Akerman and Taylor Kitsch For a Banging Premiere

Malin Akerman was the lucky lady in the middle of a Ryan Phillippe and Taylor Kitsch sandwich last night at the Tribeca Film Festival in NYC. They were on hand for the premiere of their new film, and BuzzSugar has a quick Bang Bang Club review. The trio actually shot the project back in 2009 in South Africa, where the actual story of the four war photographers took place in the '90s. Malin is the leading lady among a cast of guys that includes Taylor, Ryan, and the South African actors Neels Van Jaarsveld and Frank Rautenbach. We snagged a minute with Malin as she hustled inside to the screening, and she spoke about how fun it was to be a girl among the many guys. Malin said, "I love being a girl! And I love being one of the boys."

I've already shed my tears over the fact that the next Jason Bourne film, The Bourne Legacy, won't star Matt Damon. But plans for the next movie continue, and though there are no plans to recast someone as Bourne (really, no one can replace Damon), a lot of names are now rumored to play the lead in Legacy. Plenty of hot actors are on the list, and some aren't surprising, while some are definitely more unexpected choices. But I'd love to hear your opinion - let me know who you think could follow in Damon's footsteps by voting on each of the men who might be in the next Bourne flick!

We just saw a preview of Trust, and here's yet another Toronto Film Festival selection: The Bang Bang Club.
