Tomorrow, two "American Idol" artists will release self-titled albums on the exact same day, and I can't help but think of the timing as a sort of AI finalist smackdown. To decide who wins, you can stream the albums by Fantasia and Taylor Hicks in their entirety.
After my cursory review, I think I have to call Fantasia the winner, even if her album art does feature her name in a rather unfortunate place.

Can every night be snappy suit night on American Idol? Tuesday's Rat Pack theme was a solid excuse to drag out the skinny ties, fedoras, and — in one case (and I bet you can guess which) — shiny dinner jackets. Even Allison's stylists calmed down and helped her look all cute and vintage.

When wannabe American Idols take the stage this Winter, there will be another voice at the judges' table telling them what's what. The show has added Grammy-nominated songwriter Kara DioGuardi as a fourth judge for the show's eighth season, joining Simon, Randy, and Paula.
In a statement, producer Simon Fuller said DioGuardi is "a smart, sassy lady, and one of America's most successful songwriters.

After last week's snoozefest, the top 10 "American Idol" guys really needed to step things up on Tuesday. And they mostly did, though I still didn't see any showstopping performances like we saw from the girls.
I was expecting a lot of cheesy ballads once I found out the contestants had been asked to dedicate their songs to someone important in their lives.
