Fall Movie Preview: Kid Stuff

For the last post in my Fall Movie Preview series, let's take a look at some of the fun kid stuff that'll be hitting the theaters in the coming months. Some of these movies look like they will be lots of fun for grown-ups, too.

Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium
Natalie Portman, Jason Bateman and Dustin Hoffman all star in this whimsical tale of a magical toy shop. The brightly colored trailer makes the movie look quirky and cute - definitely a winner for both young and old. Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium hits theaters November 16.

More fun kid stuff if you

Bee Movie
Jerry Seinfeld co-wrote and lent his voice to this animated story of Barry B. Benson, a bee who discovers that humans have been stealing bees' honey so he decides to sue. In addition he befriends a human named Vanessa (voiced by Renee Zellweger), and they seem to have some kind of bee-human romance thing going on, but we won't find out what really happens until Bee Movie opens November 2.

Alvin and the Chipmunks
I'm not convinced that this upcoming version of Alvin and the Chipmunks will be any good, but I'm willing to give it a shot. Jason Lee stars as the ever-aggravated Dave, struggling to deal with the bizarre antics of his three rascally chipmunks, Alvin, Simon and Theodore. Take a look at the trailer to see what you think before Alvin and the Chipmunks opens in theaters December 14.

Sydney White
Sydney White looks like that fun movie that will be perfect to go see with your little girl cousins. In this modern-day Snow White tale, Amanda Bynes plays Sydney White, a college freshman at a school where the sorority sisters rule. When Sydney finds that she's not exactly a good match for the sisters, she ends up rooming with seven geeky guys who agree to help Sydney get back at those nasty sorority witches. Check out the trailer here before the movie opens this Friday September 21.

Amanda Bynes Is Such A Dear

Fresh off her endless Hairspray promotional tour, Amanda Bynes was back on the red carpet at Sushi Samba (yum, yum) in NYC last night to celebrate her new Steve & Barry's clothing line, Dear. Just like SJP with Bitten, Amanda opted to keep her line at the affordable chain so all her little fans can get their hands on her wares. Even though Amanda's been looking more and more like a generic blonde starlet these days, her spunky personality still separates her from the pack. Obviously she's still very appealing to the younger teen set, too. Check out the preview for her latest teen movie, Sydney White, a modern take on Snow White.

First Look: Amanda Bynes in Sydney White

Wow, with this movie and the news about Disney's Snow White and the Shaolin Monks project, it looks like Miss Snow White is enjoying a bit of a comeback.

In Sydney White, Amanda Bynes plays... Sydney White, a college freshman at a school where the sorority sisters rule. When Sydney finds that she's not exactly a good match for the sisters, she ends up rooming with seven geeky guys who agree to help Sydney get back at those nasty sorority witches.

From the trailer (which originally appeared on MySpace, hence the introduction by Amanda Bynes) it looks like a cutesier, less sarcastic Mean Girls, with a large dose of wide-eyed Bynes charm.

Miranda Returns to Australia With a White Bikini and Baby Flynn

Miranda Kerr was in a white bikini today for a photo shoot in Sydney! She tweeted this morning about heading off to work on a feature destined for British Vogue. Miranda was last in Tokyo working for a few days, but nonetheless remembered to tweet a "Happy Australia Day" to her fellow Aussies Wednesday. Thursday was a big day for her, too, as Miranda's cameo on Project Runway: All Stars finally aired.

The supermodel touched down in her native Australia Saturday after visiting Asia, and immediately reconnected with her relatives. She brought son Flynn along for lunch in the city's Surry Hills neighborhood yesterday with her mother Therese. Orlando Bloom skipped out on the jaunt to Japan, but met up with Miranda and Therese for the trip Down Under.

Love It or Hate It? High-Gloss Ceilings

The glossy white ceiling of this Coogee Beach, Sydney, home is by no means subtle. It's flashy and reflective, snazzy and arresting. But it works because the home - complete with a dreamy interior courtyard - has been designed to the nines. An "unfinished" room could not pull this off; it'd be like wearing a khaki shirtdress with rhinestone Louboutins.

I would consider this effect in a smaller room and in a darker shade - perhaps Benjamin Moore's Old Navy? The white is a little too Miami for my tastes. What do you say?
