Well, this is a big step up from that Entertainment Weekly cover: Warner Bros. has just released the very first official photo of Henry Cavill from Superman: Man of Steel. Though it's a little dark, it's clear the "steel" theme is in full effect here, and Superman's suit looks closer to that of Andrew Garfield's new Spidey costume than the original tights and undies combo. Still, there's no denying Cavill's dashing superhero looks - or those huge muscles. How do you feel about it?

It's Summer blockbuster time, which means superheros and action stars are stomping, swinging, and flying into a theater near you. And as The Daily Beast points out, the leading men are beefier than ever, with meaty Jason Momoa in Conan the Barbarian, a bulked-up Chris Evans in Captain America: The First Avenger, and Chris Hemsworth and his bulging biceps costarring in Thor. But personally, these macho action stars are just meh to me, I'm more interested in next year's slimmer superheroes, like Andrew Garfield (The Amazing Spider-Man) and Henry Cavill (Superman). What do you think? Are you more attracted to a guy who could pick you up without breaking a sweat, or a fella on the smaller side?

Lots of great actors have filled the tights (or rubber, in some cases) of famous superheroes on screen, so I put together some of my favorites for your perusing pleasure.

Wondercon hits San Francisco this weekend, and I'm excited to find out more about upcoming movies like Green Lantern. I'm getting psyched for it and other comic book and superhero movies, and though they're a frequent Hollywood staple, the current crop of films on the horizon seems more exciting than usual. Plus, there are a lot to look forward to: Thor and his hammer make their way into theaters in May, Green Lantern and X-Men: First Class both bow in June, followed by Captain America in July. And though they're far on the horizon (2012, that is), I'm so eager for any details about Zack Snyder's Superman and The Amazing Spider-Man.

I'm pretty pumped on all of these movies for different reasons - I can't wait to see Ryan Reynolds and Andrew Garfield as their respective characters, or how X-Men's prequel turns out, for instance. Which one are you looking forward to most?
