Kellan, Taylor, and Peter Let Loose at the Breaking Dawn Afterparty

The Breaking Dawn Part 1 gang reconvened for an afterparty in LA last night following their big LA premiere. Taylor Lautner, Peter Facinelli, Jackson Rathbone, and Kellan Lutz horsed around with series creator Stephenie Meyer, as well as leading lady Elizabeth Reaser. The bash was conveniently held at the Nokia Theater, where all the fun had gone down prior to the screening. It seemed all the stars were in a great mood, and Kellan was effervescent when we caught him on the carpet and he gushed about all the opportunities Twilight has given him.

Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson were cute on the red carpet, but they evidently skipped the bash. She looked amazing in a high-slitted J. Mendel gown and spoke with us about the amazing Carolina Herrera dress she gets to wear as Bella Swan. She said, "I was very relieved to love it as soon as I put it on." Robert, meanwhile, said the thing he'll miss most about Edward Cullen is the opportunity to work with his castmates. He said, "I've grown up with them, so it's like leaving school. You might not necessarily see anyone again!"

Stephenie Meyer and Keri Russell Take a Page From Jane Austen

Twilight's author is about to sink her teeth into Jane Austen. Stephenie Meyer will produce Austenland, with Keri Russell attached to star in the indie romantic comedy. Russell will play a woman obsessed with one of literature's most famous leading men, Pride and Prejudice's Mr. Darcy. Since no real man can measure up to the fictional character, she goes to a Jane Austen-themed resort where visitors dress and act the part of Austen characters. Jennifer Coolidge, Jane Seymour, and Flight of the Conchords's Bret McKenzie will also costar, and Napoleon Dynamite cowriter Jerusha Hess is set to direct.

With this project, Meyer takes the leap to producing the material of others (she has served as producer of the Twilight films). However, she may still be somewhat in her comfort zone, since this is another book-to-movie project: Austenland is an adaptation of Shannon Hale's novel.

Eclipse: Third Time's the Charm

Many Twilight followers consider the third book to be the best, and the same can be argued for its film adaptation (at least so far). From the opening sequence with new character Riley (Xavier Samuel) running through the streets of Seattle, it's obvious that the production value for Eclipse has been upped. The fight scenes feel sharper, the CGI wolves are more lifelike, and even Edward's looks have benefited (yes, Robert Pattinson is even dreamier here than in New Moon).

The story picks up with Edward (Robert Pattinson) and Bella (Kristen Stewart) in their regular meadow, as they discuss Edward's proposal from the last film. Bella has her reservations about saying yes, but her desire to be changed into a vampire is wearing her down. The couple have bigger issues, however; newborn bloodsuckers are on the loose in Seattle, plus Alice (Ashley Greene) foresees Victoria (Bryce Dallas Howard)'s return to Forks in search of vengeance. If you've read the novel, you know what happens, but that doesn't make the events any less exciting. For more on what I mean, just keep reading.

The whole cast came out for the big event - Peter Facinelli brought Jennie Garth as his date and Kellan Lutz was accompanied by Ashley Greene, girlfriend AnnaLynne McCord, and his family. Dakota Fanning, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Nikki Reed arrived solo, and there was no denying their sparkle and shine on the red carpet. Stephenie Meyer to Release New Twilight Saga Novella

Get ready to storm Barnes & Noble, Twi-hards: there's a brand-new book (sorry, novella) from Stephenie Meyer just around the corner. The best-selling author will release The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner: An Eclipse Novella on June 5, just in time for the release of the saga's third movie. If you're racking your brain trying to remember who this alleged Bree Tanner is, you're not alone - she's one of the newborn vampires who only gets 10 pages of attention in Eclipse before meeting her demise.

The whole idea seems a bit random to me, especially since our beloved heroes Edward and Bella probably won't be largely featured in the 192-page book. Apparently even Meyer hadn't been planning on it, saying,

I’m as surprised as anyone about this novella. When I began working on it in 2005, it was simply an exercise to help me examine the other side of Eclipse, which I was editing at the time. I thought it might end up as a short story that I could include on my website. Then, when work started on The Twilight Saga: The Official Guide, I thought the Guide would be a good fit for my Bree story. However, the story grew longer than I anticipated, until it was too long to fit into the Guide.

Truth be told, I'll probably end up borrowing it from one of my friends at one point, but I don't see myself rushing out to get my hands on a copy of this little book. I'm sure it'll still be a huge money maker for Meyer though - are you excited about a new mini addition to the saga?

Twilight Bites: The Latest Breaking Dawn Movie Updates

Peter Facinelli isn't the only one who has been blabbing about Breaking Dawn recently. New sources are spilling info about the behind-the-scenes workings of the upcoming final chapter in the Twilight series - and one bit of news has me positively cringing.

Why doesn't the film have a director yet?
Stephenie Meyer still hasn't decided whether she wants one or two films. Word is that she's just not sure which would be best for the film "creatively." Some of you have your own opinions about the script, so what's your advice for Meyer?
