Team Unicorn's Special Video Shout-Out to G33k Girls

Here's something made just for us: Team Unicorn's - y'know, because geek girls are as elusive as unicorns! - "G33k and G4m3r Girls" music video. Set to the tune of Katy Perry's Summer hit "California Gurls," this parody might just be an anthem for geek girls everywhere. Every line of the song is a reference to something awesome in the world of sci-fi, gaming, fantasy, or comics, and Team Unicorn is totally legit.

Actresses Michele Boyd, Clare Grant, Milynn Sarley, and Rileah Vanderbilt decided to turn their love for geek culture into a song shortly after attending this year's Comic-Con together. Throw in cameos from a rapping Seth Green (Clare's hubby), Katee Sackhoff, and Stan Lee, and Katy Perry may have some real competition on her hands!

Buzz In: What Are Your Favorite Comic Books?

Paging Seth Cohen: comic book legend Stan Lee is embarking on a new franchise called Super Seven. Lee will be working with Archie Comics to create the new property, which will actually feature Lee himself guiding a group of superhero aliens who have crash-landed on earth. Seven will be a comic book and developed as a TV series and will have an online presence as well.

Given that everything Lee has made is either beloved by fans (or made into a movie - X-Men, Spider-Man, Hulk, and Iron Man are all Lee creations), Seven may be the new comic phenomena.

Although I'm not quite as into comics as my geeky brethren, I had a minor obsession with the X-Men comic books while the animated series was on the air. Were you also into comic books (or are you still)? If so, what were your favorites? Even if you have never picked up a book, do you have a favorite comic book franchise from a TV or movie adaption?

Taylor, Johnny, Megan & Vampires Make Scream Awards Sexy

The Spike Scream Awards took over the Greek Theater in LA on Saturday night, bringing together the biggest names in Horror, Fantasy, Comics and Science Fiction. Vampires were of course some of the biggest winners of the night and the stars of The Vampire Diaries and True Blood were all in attendance. Kate Bosworth presented a statue to Alexander Skarsgard, amid rumors that there's something going on between them. Taylor Lautner was the only Twilight representative and debuted the "Behind the Scenes" New Moon footage, which wasn't much though more may come when the show actually airs. There were rumors that Kristen Stewart would make a cameo since she was back in LA, but fans were still satisfied to see sexy Taylor representing and all the shirtless Wolf Pack in the footage from the upcoming film. Johnny Depp accepted a spike for the incomplete Alice in Wonderland as well as presented an award of immortality to Keith Richards. Megan Fox expressed her gratitude to the Transformers franchise while Stephen Moyer had one of the sweetest moments of the night when he thanked the True Blood producers for being "surprising matchmakers."

On the red carpet, one of the night's winners Isabel Lucas chatted about spending last Halloween with Shia LaBeouf, though she admitted that the holiday isn't huge in her native Australia. She looked great in her Chanel dress and Jimmy Choo shoes even without getting a drop of sleep the night before. Eliza Dushku was sexy posing for the cameras and presenting with Dave Navarro - garnering cheers from her fans the whole time. Justin Long was out to support one of the night's big winners Drag Me to Hell and was friendly as he made his way into the awards. According to the AP, the upcoming X-Files movie has an official title! It's now called The X-Files: I Want to Believe, and will still open July 25.
Richard Gere is joining two movie projects, writes Variety. He'll costar alongside Hilary Swank in the Amelia Earhart biopic, and he'll star in the cop drama Brooklyn's Finest.
Iron & Wine, Flight of the Conchords, and Wolf Parade are among the bands scheduled for Sub Pop Records' 20th anniversary party this Summer, Billboard reports.
ComingSoon reports that Danielle Panabaker will play the female lead in the remake of Friday the 13th.
Get ready for more "green" storylines: NBC is bringing back Green is Universal for Earth Day, and The Futon Critic has the details. Meanwhile, the Hollywood Reporter writes that Fox has started an eco campaign of its own.

Announcing the 2012 Critics' Choice Nominations

Award season is officially around the corner, which means the nominations are coming in droves now. The Critics' Choice nominees feature some of the same contenders we've been expecting, like The Descendants and The Artist, but also has a few surprises. Namely, Martin Scorsese's Hugo has emerged as a force to be reckoned with, leading the pack with 11 nods.

Brad Pitt's got not one but two movies up for best picture, with Moneyball and The Tree of Life, not to mention a best actor nod for himself. The Help also cleaned up with eight nominations. On a personal note, we're excited to see some of our favorite 2012 comedies getting some recognition, like The Muppets, Horrible Bosses, and of course, Bridesmaids.

3 Reasons Comic-Con: Episode IV Is Our Favorite Film From the Toronto Festival

Best known for his movie Super Size Me, Morgan Spurlock's latest film, which debuted this week at the Toronto International Film Festival, puts the lens on one of our favorite annual events: Comic-Con. Comic-Con: Episode IV - A Fan's Hope follows several fans as they navigate the booth signings, costumes, and general mayhem with specific life goals in mind for their convention experiences. Here's why we can't wait for its wider release.

Dream Geek Cast - The movie includes appearances by Comic-Con royalty like Stan Lee, Frank Miller, Joss Whedon, Matt Groening, Seth Green, and Guillermo del Toro just to name a few.
Legitimizes the Fun - With the major Hollywood influence that descended on Comic-Con in recent years, it's safe to say the convention has hit the mainstream. The movie's story of seven attendees follows their determination to make it big in their respective fields including illustration, clothing design, and, well, marriage. Early reviews of the film show people's experiences beyond the basic fandemonium.

Captain America: Red, White, and Surprisingly Emotional

Chris Evans is no stranger to playing characters with superpowers, playing a cocky Johnny Storm in the Fantastic Four franchise, and arrogant Lucas Lee in Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, but his turn as the leading man in Captain America: The First Avenger is decidedly more endearing. Set against the backdrop of World War II, where men from all across America are lining up to serve their country, Brooklynite Steve Rogers is rejected from enlisting in the Army again and again due to his tiny stature and long list of physical ailments. Steve has lots of problems: asthma, social anxiety, and a tendency of getting beat down by bullies because he stands up for common decency. Thankfully, these same characteristics are what get him drafted into a secret government project called the Strategic Scientific Reserve run by Dr. Abraham Erskine (Stanley Tucci), and assisted by the technological genius of Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper) that will turn ordinary humans into super soldiers to fight Hitler's army.

The plot also centers around Johann Schmidt, the leader in Hitler's own scientific project called Hydra, who is tasked with obtaining an artifact called the "jewel of Odin's treasure room," which will undoubtedly give a wartime advantage to the Germans. As it turns out, Johann was actually the failed first test subject for Dr. Erskine's super solder project, and once he learns that the American project has been successful, he gets a giant chip on his shoulder and breaks off from Hitler to turn Hydra into an army dedicated to destroying the world with the power of the gods he now possesses.
