Get ready for Spider-Man to weave his blockbuster web at least two more times. The talk of more Spidey sequels started right after Spider-Man 3's big opening weekend last Summer, and now there's news that Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire are about to commit to two more films.
Though The Dark Knight broke Spider-Man's box office records this Summer, the Hollywood Reporter notes that Spider-Man is still the most profitable movie franchise for Sony, with the first three films combining for a total of $2.5 billion worldwide.

Despite some mixed reactions to the third Spider-Man movie, the film did extremely well at the box office and we've known for a while that Sony is interested in continuing the franchise. Now there's confirmation that the studio is moving forward in the planning of the fourth film, though they apparently "have some decisions to make" in regard to casting.
How do you feel about more Spider-Man movies?

As Spider-Man 3 begins its march toward box-office domination, Sam Raimi might be heading in another direction. According to Entertainment Weekly, Raimi is very interested in helming The Hobbit, the Lord of the Rings prequel, now that Peter Jackson's feud with New Line has left the project without a director.
That could mean an uncertain fate for Spider-Man 4.

Before Hiro, Peter, Claire, and the rest of the "Heroes" gang, there was Tobey Maguire in spandex. Tonight, these superhero forces will combine when a new Spider-Man 3 trailer premieres sometime during the new episode of "Heroes."
What's more, after "Heroes" ends at 10 p.m.

Many thought that breaking Spider-Man 3's record for the biggest opening weekend ever would be difficult, even for The Dark Knight. But the much-hyped and critically adored sequel to Batman Begins shattered many records over the weekend — including Spidey's.
Earning an estimated $155.4 million, Bruce Wayne and gang smashed box office records for the biggest single-day gross in history and the biggest opening weekend for an IMAX release.

We have to wait until May 4 to see Spider-Man 3, but here's something you can watch to pass the time. Snow Patrol has just released an adorable music video for "Signal Fire," the band's contribution the Spider-Man 3 Soundtrack, which comes out May 1. The super-indie compilation also features the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, the Killers, and the Flaming Lips.
