Buzz In: Which Reality Stars Deserve a Spinoff?

This isn't exactly breaking news, but Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt started the rumor mill up again when they mentioned that they're shopping around their own spinoff from The Hills. The show would focus more on their everyday lives and acknowledge their "fame", which apparently has risen to such levels that they've gone and written a book about it.

I'm kind of over The Hills in general, and I think there are plenty of former (or current) reality stars out there who are more deserving of his/her own show. How about Taylor from The Rachel Zoe Project or Santino from Project Runway? Who do you think deserves his or her own reality show?

Sneak Peek Clips From The Hills and The City Premieres!

I don't know what I'm going to do when the double-header of The Hills and The City premieres next Tuesday. The shows are airing in the standard 10/10:30 p.m. slots, which means that I'll probably be watching them right after 90210 and Melrose Place - if my brain doesn't explode from all that salaciousness first.

We already saw one preview clip from The Hills, so we know that the show is going through a major overhaul - Lauren's out, Kristin's in - that's sure to create more cat-clawing drama than ever. But now we have three new MTV clips, and judging by the video from The City that's below, it looks like the frosty Olivia may have finally met her match, too. Will you be watching?

Are You Following the I'm a Celebrity News?

Since it premiered last week, NBC's I'm a Celebrity . . . Get Me Out of Here! has been generating headline after headline - mostly of the Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt variety. The latest controversy is that Heidi and Spencer claim they were tortured in an isolation chamber as punishment for trying to leave the show, leading to Heidi being hospitalized with an ulcer - a story sources on the show are denying. Even before that, the pair had already quit and unquit the show, which features contestants performing various challenges (many involving rats and spiders) in the Costa Rican jungle.

Not only has the show been making entertainment headlines, it's also been dominating NBC's schedule - and this week looks to be no different, with the show set to air two-hour installments tonight and Wednesday and another episode on Thursday. Have you gotten caught up in the controversy? Or are you avoiding the show and anything to do with it?

First Look: What's Next For The Hills

While I've been following Whitney Port's life in The City, I have to admit that there's nothing quite like the drama of original-flavor Hills. The show's expected to return in late March, and this trailer for the new episodes (which is either "bonus episodes" for season four or the start of season five - MTV keeps changing its mind) is full of crying, hugging, punching, and . . . tarot cards?

From the looks of things, MTV is setting this one up to be the Lauren/Heidi reconciliation season, with Spencer pulling away from Heidi and Heidi still wanting to make things better with her old friend LC. Meanwhile, Spencer and Brody appear to have rekindled their friendship, and we hear that both Lo and Stephanie will be - gasp! - getting jobs.

TV Tonight: How I Met Your Mother

Lately, How I Met Your Mother hasn't exactly been shy about piling on the guest stars. Remember Britney Spears?

Well, for tonight's first episode of the new year, it's happening again, with Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt joining Kim Kardashian for cameos on the show. I was initially wary of the idea, but the way the three of them are being used does make me chuckle: They're the faces on the front of a Them Weekly magazine that Marshall wants to read in the bathroom - but can't, because he's afraid that taking the magazine with him is an instant signal that he wants to do a No. 2.

OK, so maybe I'm more interested in the night's other plotline, which has Ted and Robin attempting to be roommates and discovering that maybe they got along better when they were sleeping together. But hey, I'm generally in favor of anything that gives this show a ratings boost. To check out a couple of clips, just read more.

How I Met Your Mother Hires Heidi and Spencer

Yup, a rumor from last week has been confirmed: Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt are heading to How I Met Your Mother for a guest spot in an upcoming episode.

The Hills stars are on set to film their roles this week, and the episode will air in January. Series co-creator Craig Thomas joked to E! that "one of them is the Mother," but that's so obviously not true. What is true: Their part of the episode revolves around poop. How . . . oddly fitting.

Writes E!'s Kristin Dos Santos, Marshall will be lacking an appropriate place to do no. 2 at work. Then:

According to CBS, Spencer and Heidi will be playing magazine cover versions of themselves as Marshall searches for a place to "read a magazine." Speidi will taunt and tease Marshall from the confines of his current copy of Them Weekly.

Heh, Them Weekly.

Anyway, How I Met Your Mother showed it can handle big-name guest stars well with the Britney Spears episodes last Spring. But I'm curious to see whether Heidi and Spencer will draw viewers to the show - or repel them. Do you think this is a savvy move? Or does it seem risky to give these two even more exposure?

TV Tonight: The Hills

It's that time of year again. Another set of eyerolls, meaningful stares, and semi-contrived situations. Another heap of friend breakups, nightclub-hopping, and drama. Another season of The Hills on MTV.

As always, the trailer for the show makes things look pretty darn exciting (even though so often nothing ever really happens); we're promised jail time, Whitney in NYC, and more struggles between Lauren and Audrina. This time around, I've been pretty fascinated with the media reaction to the show: Entertainment Weekly gave Lauren Conrad the cover for a story about how different her life is from what we see on TV; Time said the whole show is staggeringly beautiful; and some other critics have admitted utter bafflement about the show's popularity.

Omarosa: Greatest Reality TV Villain of All Time?

Omarosa may never have won The Apprentice - but her obnoxious ways have earned her a new title. The she-devil of not one but two seasons of the Donald Trump reality show has topped TV Guide's list of the Top 10 Reality TV Villains.

Omarosa ascended to the top of the list by beating out lots of other folks we love to hate, including Project Runway's Wendy Pepper and Lisa Fernandes from the most recent season of Top Chef. Also on the list: Puck from The Real World: San Francisco and - of course - Spencer Pratt, who clocked in at No. 7. (Heidi somehow avoided making the cut.)

While I generally agreed with everyone on the list, there are a couple I might have swapped out. Jonny Fairplay of Survivor was pretty awful, but so was Richard Hatch (though maybe imprisonment for tax evasion is punishment enough for him). And sure, Trish was terrible on The Bachelor during Jesse Palmer's season, but Brad Womack - the dude who didn't pick anyone - would make my list for sure.

The Hills: Yup, Still Alive for Season Four

Get ready for more eyerolls and almost-certainly-manufactured drama: The Hills - the show oh so many people love to hate and/or hate to love - isn't going away anytime soon. The show has just been picked up for a fourth season (not to be confused with the current "season three, part two") that will start in August.

According to Us Weekly, the new season will have 19 episodes following what Lauren, Whitney, Audrina and the gang do this Summer. Which, I'm guessing, will be approximately the same thing they do the rest of the time. Oops, that was bitter. It's just that . . . well, I've admitted before that The Hills is one of my guilty pleasures, but how long can this show really go on? Nineteen more episodes is a long time to spend feeling guilty!

So, the question. For all you Hills lovers, are you still on board for a season four, or are you starting to feel a little bit over it? And for the Hills haters in the audience, well, feel free to vent your anger in the comments below.
