Singer to Watch: Yelle

Hey, wasn't I just talking about songs with lyrics I don't understand? My lovely friend Bella sent this adorable French electropop artist my way and implored me to check her out. And holy wow, I can't stop listening (or looking, for that matter!). Her name is Yelle and she's becoming a pretty big deal in France already. I'm not sure she has any cross-over plans in the near future, but I'm going to help her start her US takeover campaign right now by posting a video for her song "Ce Jeu."

She is apparently quite witty with her words, so if any of your high school or college French comes back as you're listening and you want to translate, please do so in the comments! As for me, this is one time when I can just smile and enjoy this tune's infectiousness. To check out the video,

Singer to Watch: Estelle

As British sensation Leona Lewis hurtles towards the USA, there's another singer from across the pond whom I'm really excited about: Estelle. Although she's definitely reminiscent of other R&B singers like Erykah Badu and Lauryn Hill, Estelle's sound stands out as something entirely unique.

Her first album, The 18th Day, was a hit in the UK, and these days, she has all kinds of talent collaborating on her new album, Shine, including Wyclef Jean, will.i.am, Swizz Beats, Mark Ronson, John Legend and Kanye West. That's a pretty good list if you're looking to earn fans in America.

Her new album was supposed to come out in February, but that didn't happen - though hopefully the fact that her singles are being released now means it's coming soon. I love both of the songs - "American Boy" and "Wait a Minute (Just a Touch)" - which feature Kanye and John Legend respectively. You can download them at iTunes, and to check out both videos,

Are These the Tamest Contestants in Bachelorette History?

The Bachelorette was back last night, and while the franchise is always trying to top itself in crazy, this season has a more mellow tone. Taking cues from the overly polite Southern belle star, single mom, and Bachelor vet Emily Maynard, the show has moved to her hometown of Charlotte, NC, and brought on some men who seem like they'll try a little harder to look like nice guys. Of course, there were cheesy gimmicks; I still can't figure out why one guy brought an ostrich egg. But at least one bachelor, Doug, won some sweet points and the first impression rose by bringing a letter from his 12-year-old son.

In all we met one pretty-mild villain, a luxury brand consultant who came in on a helicopter and said he's changing his personality to be "down to earth." Seemed pretty tame compared to "winning" Courtney from Ben's season or evil Bentley from Ashley's. Emily even got rid of a singer/songwriter who could have provided the looking-for-fame story line, and the upcoming scenes from this season of The Bachelorette weren't as dramatic as they usually are. Since Emily is the first mom to hand out the roses, I'm thinking producers vetted this batch of guys for more than making good TV. Do you think I'm right, or do you expect more unstable, yet entertaining antics to come? Watch Emily tear up while reading the letter from Doug's son and tell me what you think.

Boulder, CO: A Food Mecca in the Rockies

Recently, I found myself with the prospect of being in Boulder, CO, for a long weekend. It was an opportunity that I seized faster than a dog would take leftovers. Aside from being home to the University of Colorado's flagship college campus, Boulder's also known for its food-centric, health-focused, and highly educated population - last year, it was even named America's Foodiest Town by Bon Appétit. Alicia Keys Hangs Courtside With Her Boys, Swizz and Egypt

The NY Knicks got some A-list support last night from local fans Alicia Keys, Swizz Beatz, and their son, Egypt. The trio sat courtside at Madison Square Garden and watched their hometown team come back to defeat the Miami Heat 89-87 in game four of the playoffs. According to Alicia, Egypt is "totally obsessed" with basketball, and the little guy seemed to be having a blast.

The Knicks face off against the Heat again on Wednesday in a make it or break it match, but tonight the Big Apple turns its attention to fashion. The annual Met Gala is only a few hours away, and Alicia's just one of the many famous faces who have graced the Met Balls in the past. It's also a big night for Alicia's former backup singer Jermaine Paul, who is one of the four finalists competing on tonight's live two-hour The Voice finale.

Love was in the air for Katy Perry at Coachella! The purple-haired singer engaged in plenty of PDA with Florence + the Machine guitarist Robert Ackroyd. Katy and her new man, Robert Ackroyd, snuck in kisses and hugs while watching a concert yesterday. Katy has moved on with Robert after splitting from husband Russell Brand in December of last year. Katy was reported to have had a fling with French male model Baptiste Giabiconi.

This was the second weekend in a row Katy went out into the Indio, CA desert to see the concerts - check out all the celebrities at Coachella this year. Last week, Katy also spent time with Robert between performances. He even tweeted after their first go-round that it was the "best Coachella ever" with his friends and a certain "KP."

This week's TV got everyone talking on Buzz; it was another big week for Game of Thrones, with a few of you chiming in about the series' second episode of the season, while the premiere of Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23 got the thumbs up. Meanwhile, the shocking non-elimination on American Idol also gave fans something to talk about.

American Idol: Who Deserves to Get Cut This Week?

Gwen Stefani guest mentored on this week's episode of American Idol, and with contestants dropping like flies and the title edging ever closer, each performance is more important than ever. Stefani was on hand for '80s week, which is a time to be joyous, to sing oldies-but-goodies, and to break out your circus formal wear. Well, that last one may only apply to Randy.

This was a pretty great week for the contestants but of course, some shone brighter than others. Joshua Ledet got a standing O for his powerhouse rendition of "If You Don't Know Me by Now" and Skylar took a break from her signature stomping to give a really classy performance of "Wind Beneath My Wings." Meanwhile, Hollie Cavanagh didn't quite rock "What a Feeling," but she did rock some awesome rhinestone hair clips. In addition to their solos, the contestants also pulled double duty with duets. Colton and Skylar made a cute pair, Hollie and DeAndre got "so excited" and Jessica and Joshua proved they would be the best wedding singers ever. I was actually partial to the combo of Elise and Phillip, as they have two of my favorite voices in the competition. Did you watch? Whose turn on the Idol stage is up?
