Get the Look: Scott Baio's Groovy Living Room

I just read that Scott Baio's 1960s four-bedroom, five-bath Encino, CA, home is on the market for just under $3 million. While the overall style is too midcentury for my tastes, I do love his funky living room! The basic structure, with hanging screens and a ranch-style layout, is quite retro. But he's updated it with cool contemporary blues and modern white furnishings. I'd love to see this lively setting in a Summer house or a tropical hotel - wouldn't those be happy days?

So I thought I'd show you how to get the look of this room in case you're as intrigued as I am. First off, I'd start with a James Dean Art Print ($23) like the one over his fireplace. Here are a few more products for re-creating the retro room:

Recast Charles in Charge and Win a Prize!

Every other Wednesday on BuzzSugar, I post a Recast challenge, where I ask you to choose new actors for a classic TV show or movie. The reader who submits the best cast wins a BuzzSugar T-shirt!

I bet you guessed I would get around to this '80s television staple one of these days. This week, the time is right to recast Charles in Charge!

Normally, this is the part of the post where I remind you what the show was about, why it was memorable, etc. But thankfully, the theme song writers did that job for me via these classic lyrics:

New boy in the neighborhood/Lives downstairs and it is understood/He’s there just to take good care of me/Like he’s one of the family/Charles in Charge/Of our days and our nights/Charles in Charge/Of our wrongs and our rights

So basically he's part of the family, but he's a nanny, but the crazy thing is he's - wait for it - a guy!

What young, Scott Baio-esque hunk would you cast as Charles? Who could play his best buddy, er, Buddy? And what about the Powell kids? Who would play Jamie (originally played by ex-Baywatcher Nicole Eggert), Sarah, and Adam? Finally, let's recast Mrs. Powell, Walter Powell, and Charles's mom, Lillian.

The Cox-Arquettes Make It a Family Affair

The Cox-Arquette clan broke out their 3-D glasses last night for a screening of The Butler's In Love, a short film directed by David and starring his brother Richmond. Coco came along for a night out with her parents, but that wasn't all the family fun. David's sisters Rosanna, Alexis, and Patricia - along with her husband Thomas Jane, who starred in The Sweetest Thing back in the day - were also on hand to show their support. Whether it's friends or family, the Cox-Arquettes always seem to stay surrounded by the people they love.

Buzz In: Which Former Teen Idols Would You Put on VH1?

It's a weird world where Scott Baio can become a programming tycoon, but I guess that's what two successful "celebreality" shows can do these days. Following the success of Scott Baio is 45 . . . And Single and Scott Baio is 46 . . . And Pregnant, Baio is launching a reality show that aims to do for others what VH1 did for him.

Here's the idea: Eight teen idols from the '80s and '90s, all guys, will live in a house together and reflect on the best and worst parts of their short-lived fame. With help from life coaches and experts in the entertainment industry, they'll come to a decision by the end of the show: either pursue fame again, or promise to stay far away from Hollywood for good.

So now, here's the key question: Which eight male former heartthrobs would you want to see in the house? Frankly, after The Two Coreys, I would veto both Haim and Feldman. But an appearance by Kirk Cameron could be great, if only because I'd love to see what he's saying these days. Fred Savage might be doing too well to qualify, but what about Corin "Corky" Nemec of Parker Lewis Can't Lose?

Before Scott Baio was 45 . . and Single, he was "Charles," a college student who lived in a basement and babysat the kids of the house to earn his keep. The plot sounds normal until you hear the show's theme song: "Charles in charge of our days and our nights. Charles in charge of our wrongs and our rights . . . I want Charles in charge of me." What the hell kind of underground cult was this dude running with his ugly '80s clothes and authoritarian politics? That is the question.

If you were a child of the '80s (or even the early '90s), chances are good that you've had the Charles in Charge theme song stuck in your head more than a few times. It's been ages since I've heard the catchy little ditty, but Jimmy Fallon decided to bring it back on his show last night, adding his own unique spin. Fallon's known for his Neil Young impression, but this time he channeled his inner Bob Dylan for his ode to Scott Baio's famous character - complete with harmonica. Can I make a request for the Full House theme song next?
