Kate Winslet Looks Red-Hot in a Familiar Stella Dress

Kate Winslet wore a familiar dress last night to the Paris screening of Carnage. Kate wore the same Stella McCartney dress, but in red, as she wore during a photocall for the same film at Cannes in early September. Yesterday, Kate posed for photos on the red carpet with her costar John C. Reilly and director Roman Polanski. She didn't, though, have the company of boyfriend Ned Rocknroll. The couple were together in recent weeks for a trip to America, where they visited San Francisco and Upham, NM. Following a stop back in their native UK, Kate and Ned popped up in NYC with her little ones Mia and Joe.

Polanski Brings Together Foster, Winslet, Waltz

How's this for a dream team: for his next film, God of Carnage, Roman Polanski has recruited Oscar winners Kate Winslet, Christoph Waltz, and Jodie Foster. (Oh, and Matt Dillon will star, too). The big-screen adaptation of Yasmina Reza's play follows two sets of parents whose worlds collide when their sons get into a fight at school. The meeting at school goes awry when the couples begin attacking each other's parenting skills, and eventually marital problems come under scrutiny. The play is set in Brooklyn, but filming will take place in Paris due to Polanski's, um, legal issues.

Movie Preview: McGregor and Brosnan in The Ghost Writer

No matter how you feel about Roman Polanski, it's not really debatable whether he's a talented director. Despite ongoing controversy, his latest film, The Ghost Writer, is still emerging, and this week brings us the trailer for the thriller.

Ewan McGregor plays an author who's recruited into a lucrative deal to be the ghost writer for former Prime Minister Adam Lang, played by Pierce Brosnan. When it turns out that Lang's political record is anything but squeaky clean, McGregor finds a moral dilemma in transcribing the life of the powerful man. Making matters worse is that McGregor also finds himself fearing for his life after he finds out the previous ghost writer died (suicide? murder?) while on the job. The trailer's extremely engaging, and the movie itself looks stylish and fast-paced (be sure to listen up for Kim Cattrall sporting a British accent).

Filmmaker Roman Polanski, who fled the US 32 years ago to avoid sentencing in a statutory rape trial, was arrested last week in Switzerland on the request of US authorities.

Marina Zenovich, the director of the documentary based on Polanski's case Wanted and Desired, has expressed interest in filming more footage of the current happenings, with Brett Ratner coming on to produce it.

There's simultaneous support and protest for Polanski's release, with much of the support coming from fellow filmmakers. The latest is that victim Samantha Geimer, now 45, wants the case dismissed.
